Iowa lost its four games last year by a combined FOUR points, and have now won what, TWELVE games in a row, the 2nd longest streak in the country? Iowa even blew out SEC school S. Carolina last years bowl game. I think Cincy has a dandy team, but, if Pike wouldn't have gotten hurt, I honestly believe S Florida is in the ball game and has a shot at winning. The 2nd string QB came in FRESH, was a different kind of QB, S. Florida was getting a little worn, had never seen him, wasn't expecting him and had no time to prepare for that stye of QB play. Pike is a fine CFB quarterback, but he is stiff and slow. Also prone to getting hurt. Stanzi hasn't mised a play a/c of an injury, against much better competition. S. Florida has a quick, but undersized DL. Iowa, has BOTH a quck and good sized DL. Iowa has played and beaten Penn State, Arizona, and Whisky, and Michigan. FOUR, pretty solid teams. Correct me if I am wrong, but Whisky, PSU are pretty large venues, those Two of those games on the ROAD, so, a nuetral field wouldn't affect or intimidate them too much. Michigan and Arizona are also bigger time programs, bigger than Cincy has played so far, except for Oregon State. Fresno State is pretty decent too, but not in the same class. Oh, yeah, didn't Oregon get beat by Arizona at home? A team Iowa beat by TEN? Didn't Whisky beat Fresno State, a team Iowa just beat by TEN, at WHiskey. Iowa's Def LEADS THE COUNTRY in take-a-ways. No small feat. Iowa has faced big time receivers before, they have experienced DB's. I have to wonder how much time Pike would have to throw against Iowa. LB'er Eadds and Angerer are possibly the top LB pair in the conference. Obviously the D line is very, very good, and Cincy has NOT seen anyone like DE Clayborn, who is large and fast, and has played, once again, against much better competition.
QB Big advantage to Cincy
Coaching Staff, edge to Iowa, esp in experience, and BIG games
Defense. Big advantage to Iowa
WR, sure, Cincy has Gilyard, but who else? Depth to Iowa, ESP with Moeaki at TE. DJK, McNutt, and Stross are all very fine WR. Wegher and Robinson are threats here also.
RB, Edge to Iowa. I didn't see anyone from Cincy (except the fresh, 2nd string QB) do very much on the ground. Iowa's Robinson is doing quite well, again, against bigger time competition.
Off Line advantage to Iowa
If games are won and lost in the trenches, and championships with defense, what is not to like in Iowa over Cincy??? Not sure where you are getting your information, other than being a homer. I don't believe Cincy could beat Iowa, much less by a large margin!
