Its 2017 and people still believe in squares and sharps like they do santa claus and the tooth fairy
Best post I've seen in a while. The. REAL PROs are buying numbers trying to move the lines to where they want them to be. This line has gone up and down a lot through "key" numbers in just a few days. If you are blindly betting line movement this early in the week, you really are SQUARE no matter what side you pick. UGA fan here and will be at the game. I feel its crazy to lay 4-7 points (depending on when you got your $$$ down) to Miss State in this situation. Not betting this game just hoping they win as a fan. Good luck everyone!

I've been following State for over 50 years; never seen them play any better than they did against LSU. They dominated. I couldn't believe it was State, to be honest. Man for man, this year's team is much better than the one that held the NO. 1 spot a coupla years ago.
Fitzgerald being a Georgia boy, no way is he gonna have a letdown for this game. It wouldn't surprise me if they kicked the other Dawgs from Athens in the mouth the way they beat up on LSU.
BOL, RT2
I agree with you. I think this Miss. State team is better than the one in 2014. Whether they do as well as that team, we'll see. If you put a bigger name on the jersey and used the players from MSU, Miss. State would favored. It's all about public perception.
Hail State

I really like the first Half Under, and under for the game here man. Think Miss St. is Solid as well. Two very good defenses, hard seeing this being a two possession game..Goodluck

I like how Mississippi State matches up with Georgia especially in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Advantage goes to Mississippi State. In my opinion, Mississippi State is the better team. I like Mississippi State to win straight up by 3-4 points. Coaching advantage also goes to Mississippi State in my opinion. I think Dan Mullen is the 2nd best coach in the SEC. Todd Grantham will create schemes that will make it difficult for Jake Fromm to execute. Mississippi State will get their points. Georgia won't be able to keep up in the end.

I forgot to mention that Mississippi State's walk-on field goal kicker is solid from 45 yards out. Kickoff guy is solid too. Kicks them to the back of the endzone.

1) Georgia was 8-5 last year, barely above average. Kirby Smart has not impressed me at all.
2) MSU was 6-7 last year and was totally over-matched by the SEC elite teams. But Dan Mullen, while not a good recruiter, is a very good coach.
3) MSU beat LSU by 30, but LSU has a retarded Neanderthal for a head coach. He might have the lowest IQ of any head SEC coach of all time.
4) MSU is obviously better than they were last year, but how big of a leap can we realistically expect from this bunch? Fitz is a very good runner but an average passer.
5) How much of a letdown can we expect from State? And did the huge win over LSU make Georgia take State more seriously?
All said, I think a fair line is Ga -4.5, but I will likely stay away from this one. One thing is 100% sure -- the Bulldogs will win.

Since 2014, Miss. State has been a dog of 6 or more points 10 times. They have covered 8 of 10, winning 5 outright.
If Fitz can play within himself, advantage State. Going back home, playing against his childhood team who didn't offer, family from Athens, it's going to take 2-3 series for him to settle down. He's going to be sky high and hopefully until he settles down, won't make any major mistakes. DC Grantham going back to Athens where he was run off, Jonathan Abrams, starting safety going back where he started as a true freshman for Ga. These 3 will make sure there won't be a letdown from LSU game. Mullen does a good job of keeping them focused. Played 3 straight top 10 at the time back in 2014 with Dak and won all 3, propelling into top spot in poll. The team is talking about replecating that feat this year as well. Playing LSU, Georgia, Auburn 3 straight. This team is better top to bottom than 2014 I feel.
I don't ever bet on State, let that game be just as a fan. If I did, I'd go small on State. The stat I quoted says all you need to know.

Here's a stat for you...

Dudy Dog - How many of those 8 wins came on the road? How many came after thumping an arguable top 5 ranked team?
0?
Nash.....Against spread all games, they were 5-4 the next week after being a 6+ dog. One was bowl game, so I didn't count it since it was a month later.
To answer your question, they played 6 road games after having won as a 6+ dog, splitting those games 3-3.
Only 1 of the outright wins was against a top 5 team, and they won the next week, but it was played at home.
Here is a good site where you can put in a team and other criteria and it gives you historical data against the spread, etc.

Here's another one I just realized playing with the database. Since Oct. of 2016, Miss. St. is 8-1 on the over. Lone loss was the bowl game, a game that had nothing riding on it.

Here are some nuggets, for both sides not sure anybody mentioned. I know I said Grantham going back to UGA. Nick Fitzgerald is from Georgia and they didn't recruit him, he'll have more family and friends at this game then ever at Starkville. On the UGA side, Kirby Smart has been a stopper for Dan Mullens offense when he was a D coordinator for Bama.
