Let’s hear it
That's always the question, isn't it? The Big 12 and Pac 12 aren't that good (minus maybe UCLA & USC). Oregon looked very vulnerable. Especially now with their stud defensive player out. Oklahoma barely escaped as 30+ favorites. Oklahoma State too. Both one score games.
Washington and Washington State both went down in games they were both double digit favorites. Fade UConn, Akron, and UMass all season.
Bama continues to be Bama keep hammering them 1H. Georgia's D is LEGIT. Wisconsin can't pass but plays tough D, maybe ride the unders. Vandy got crushed at home by East Tennessee State fade them. North Carolina is overrated lost too much talent in the draft. Don't bet against VA Tech in Blacksburg.

As a Bama fan, I think we will be alright, but hope Chris foot isnt season ending, the kid needs a chance to play. Also, Georgia D is for real but their offense (though playing Clemson) doesnt scare me. Rather play them than Florida ONLY based on yesterdays games.
Might this be the year one or both of the L.A. schools shows back up? Too early to tell, but maybe, just maybe.
Not totally down on LSU just yet. Their first game was against a team that had already played AND they were dealing with a hurricane (they also tend to,lose a bit of talent each year to the draft). They have no room to slip up now to have a shot at a decent bowl.
Penn State could be real, but you are going to have to score sometimes. Several guys,on that D look legit.
VA Tech, good luck beating them at home. Never been to a game there yet but they are one,of the choices for Sept/Oct road trip games.
Is Clemson D that good? They were missing a couple of guys, that looks promising. Their offense, even reloading, should be better. Maybe Georgia IS that good, in which case, now I may be worried for Bama :)
Best time of the year, college football is back and now that I am on the East Coast, fall is coming, thankfully.

Great observations. With so many games, you can't watch them all, sometimes the score doesn't give you the complete picture. For me, Bama is Bama again. Miami just can't compete with top tier teams after suffering their 3rd major blowout to a good team the last 2 seasons. USF is really bad, no QB, how will they score points? Georgia defense may be the best in the country. Clemson will not be in the playoffs this season. You can still score on Ohio State and Oklahoma. UNC will not be competing for an ACC championship. VATECH will, Burmeister appears to the man for the job, QB, and their defense is for real. One game is a small sample but I'm inclined to throw a couple bucks on them to cut down the nets for the ACC Championship. UCLA, most everyone was on LSU, the Bruins maybe the 2 most impressive wins out of the gate. Texas nice win over a scrappy ranked Louisiana Lafayette team. APP ST and Coastal Carolina out of the mighty Sunbelt conference may be even better, 2 schools the "big boys" would just as soon not see. I'm sure I probably missed something, still working on my coffee. It's very early but there were definitely some things we learned

Good thread. I know the signs of a coach being “over” his current tenure. Nick Rolo is DONE in Pullman. He is over it, and you can hear it how he answers questions in his presser, his body language on the side line. This Washington St team is one or two bad losses away from checking out. Terrible qb play from their starter and back up , this is the first team in this early season I think has the potential to quit on their coach by October. You can see it in his face that he hates Pullman

The really great run programs don't have 'down' years. Rebuilding is not in their vocabularies. Bama has what appears to be three or four turn-key NFL players on both sides of the ball. It's unbelievable really. I am VERY fearful of this NIL business. Quarterbacks and star wideouts being showered with endorsements while the guys in the trenches who make a lot of it look so easy are ignored. It is my belief that organized crime will be cozying up to these players and getting in their ears. "look at this," they will say "you do all the heavy lifting and he's laughing all the way to the bank. DON'T YOU WANT YOUR PIECE OF THE PIE?" It may take a few years but I think it's going to cause problems. Nothing easier to hide than a team favored by 35 only winning by 33.....jus saying.
As far as death watch for coaches.....Leach looks even more miserable than usual....and that's saying something. Never should have come east.
Wow.....Wasdhington losing to FCS. Just wow.

NO ONE with any respect for Northern Illinois. I was fortunate enough to live bet the Huskies when they were at +7.5 even though they were up 14-0. GT coach gotta be feelin a bit nervous. A 19 point dog and they lose?

Seems like home teams with full stadiums will have an extra nice advantage at least for the first few weeks of the season until these kids get used to it. Its been awhile since theyve played under these conditions.
I was very impressed with UCLA especially their Dline. Its been awhile since weve seen one like that from the pac 12. I dont think ive ever seen a pac 12 school dominate a big Sec school in both sides of the trenches like that. Chip has these boys running his system optimally and their confidence will be sky high onwards. Could be a special season for them.

Missed Northern Ill, big win. Made sum bucks off NIU going back a few years, they were a cash cow for awhile. And Vanderbilt was a 21 point fav over ETSU and lost...by 20, wow.

@FCF316
Great call! Tech may as well drag Johnson out of the nursing home or his grave and go back to the option. At least they were reasonably rerspected and feared.
ALL the so-called experts I heard had Ohio down this year but still thumping Cuse.

U of Illinois should have been a huge fade play for me yesterday and i completely forgot about the game. Too caught up in other games plus boxing and UFC. they were primed for a letdown after beating Nebraska as home dogs

Bama - Gonna be good bet Ats and team total over the first half of the year no matter the number.
Uga - Will be severely overrated in Ats numbers the next few weeks. Their defense is not as good as they seemed. Clemson's Ø was just that bad.
Oklahoma may be in trouble but back them in the next game.

People keep on hammering the under tonight for the ND vs FSU Something fishy is brewing hmmmm .. the value is gone on the total if you guys are thinking under.

@ABLP0609
Alot of new offensive personnel. Line was 54.5, I'm seeing 54, -115, not a big deal. I think it's the right play but a pass for me, I need to see these teams and the QBs Coan and Milton have been productive elsewhere, Wisky/UCF

If they get to Milton, or, more to the point, Miltons knee, doesn't one have to consider it might not hold up? And I'm a HUGE Milton fan.

I watched Marshall thrash Navy. Navy's defensive line is small and couldn't get any pressure on the QB.
Navy's triple option got a ton of yards on the ground but couldn't do anything in the redzone or when facing 3rd and long.
Navy special teams:
punt avg 30 yards
one punt blocked
one blocked field goal
They're facing Air Force (-6.5) next week that will compete for the Mountain West.

@Throw$Away
Good to know but remember it's an interservice rivalry, with a line of 6.5 expect a competitive game. And there are size limitations for all service academy players.
