I was once convicted of DUI...  and I can assure you I am nowhere on the level of a fucking pedophile.  Are you really serious???

A pedophile is calculating, and deceiving.  He knows what he is doing is wrong, and takes calculated steps to cover his tracks.

The guy is really stretching it for his legal defense. Is he just going to hang it all on Joe Pa and say Joe Pa didn't tell him? Or that the other two guys didn't tell him? Weird. The report obviously says otherwise.

They all covered up to save the "Program."

I would assume that what Sandusky did falls under the category of child abuse. And I an not sure I follow your loigic with drunk driving. Of course drunk driving is terrible and selfish but it is something that everyone of us risks everyday when we go out on the roadways. I would 100 times out of 100 times rather give my keys to my 16 year old son that know that he was exposed to hte kind of stuff that Sandusky did. 

And I also seriously question if child deaths due to drunk driving strongly outweighs (or even outweighs for that matter) the number of children who are sexually abused.

Obviously I was lumping all drunk drivers together, including those who kill and those lucky enough to make it home without killing. But lumped together, they do a helluva lot more damage than pedophiles. Just making a point on how we react to this PSU case and yet we do not get all upset and involved considering the carnage done by drunk drivers and incest and child abuse.

On average, one person died every 48 minutes in 2009 due to an alcohol-impaired driver. (THAT is a worse problem than pedophiles.)

Three in every ten Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related crash at some point in their lives.

Of fatal accidents in 2009, 32 percent involved alcohol-impaired drivers.

I didn't mean just taking a chance on the roads with drunk drivers here and there. I meant being in the path of one. Or maybe in the car with one.

And I was referring to all deaths due to drunk drivers, not just child deaths.

Maybe not the best examples, but you get my point.

I certainly don't mean to play down the damage Sandusky did. Was just trying to put it in perspective and shed some light on some things going on that are even worse and we don't get so emotional about as this.

You sir are a mental midget - yes and idiot... let me try to explain in terms you MAY comprehend... but I have my doubts.

A drunk driver ( the garden variety, not the habitual) is a man or woman that makes a mistake in judgement.  They drive when they should have not, and they get caught.

A pedophile is a calculating criminal that destroys lives.  And he (she in some cases) knows what they are doing.

Since you like to cite stats, let's go with that a bit... It is estimated that for every pedophile that is caught and convicted, there are 1000 that are not.  Furthermore, it is well known that the victims of such crimes suffer insurmountable life changing damage.

Do you really want to try to justify such a ridiculous statement?  You are embarrassing yourself

You are giving drunk drivers a pass for getting behind the wheel drunk where they become a killing machine. Ooops, just an error in judgement. Sorry, I was drunk. Forgive me.

And I was in no way giving a pedophile a pass. I agree with you that they are calculating, etc.

I wasn't trying to say any one drunk driver is worse than a pedophile. I was trying to say drunk driving is a more serious problem taken as a whole, but we get more emotional about the pedophile than the drunk driver who kills.

I accept your point that there are a lot more sexual abuse cases that never get reported, just as there are a lot more incest and child abuse cases that do not get reported. And some pedophiles kill.

All of these are bad. I'll drop it.

I am in agreement that this PSU tragedy is very bad. First Sandusky's behavior and now the revelations that Paterno and Co. covered up for him and let him continue and didn't protect the kids - just to save "the Program." Disgusting.

Joe didn't even confront Sandusky and tell him to knock it off!

JoePa was there too long, and he was made into a GOD LIKE figure..Legacy gone and NO PENALITES WILL be given!! If there are penalities the school can move on; no penalties and it will LINGER. The Penn State culture allowed a Janitor, an asst coach and hs dad the head coach ad all those involved to PUT FOOTBALL ABOVE ALL ELSE, AND wanted to handle this "in house" WHAT EXACTLY HAS PENN STATE LEARNED FROM ALL THIS??????????
