I was a little uncertain on this game three weeks ago. After some time to think it over, it's a firm play:
-Stop Klein, and game over ...if the Hogs do so, they’ll probably be in good shape. Good luck doing it for two halves.
-KSU’s offense is a patient one... the opponent's defense knows it’s coming, yet this offense will just keep doing what they do- poke, prod, and make adjustments at the half. Snyder has had plenty of time to poke holes in the Hog’s defense and add some wrinkles to his offense.
-Pace of play…Snyder is a genius at controlling the tempo of a game. The Hog’s would prefer a fast-break game. And it’ll look as though they’re getting it at certain points…but sooner or later, I think the clock and the tempo will be contolled the Cats.
-Cats 105th ranked pass defense…Wilson could RAIN yardage and points down on this defense. Who cares if he does? Is the Arkansas defense really good enough to keep KSU out of the end zone? No. The Cats can swap TD’s with these dudes all day long if they need to. This is nothing they haven’t seen before.
-Cat’s d-line…while not stellar, is capable of getting to Wilson and causing trouble. Wilson isn’t exactly a sure thing when it comes to ball security. KSU corners are opportunists. The Cat’s defense is frustrating because they don’t frequently attack and they give up big yards…but they also take the ball away.
-Intangibles…this KSU team is tight. Sounds cheesy, but they’ve got each other’s back. Snyder preaches “family” and these guys have it . Massive chemistry. Can’t speak for Arkansas, but this team’s got it down pat. Not only will they run through walls for Snyder, they’ll do it for Klein, who is the undisputed leader of the entire team.
-Petrino is a very good coach…but Vegas is giving 9ish points. Who do you think got more out of their team in 34 extra days ??
-Underdog role… forget about it. It’s just fuel.
No huge fireworks from the Cats tonight. Just blue-collar shit and doing all the little things…take care of the ball…take the ball away now and then…minimize mistakes…keep grinding.
While most are focusing on the Hogs blazing offense, I won't sweat it. Their defense could be the big difference maker, but I don't see it happening.
This Arkansas team, like so many others this season, will walk off the field swearing they’re the better team and that they just lost to an inferior opponent.
Shoulda waited for closer to game time for my line:
KSU +8.5 big
KSU ML small
