seems like i've been opening with this statement quite a bit lately...."an interesting match up here". i'll add to that a damn near even match up as well. niu was somewhat schizophrenic this season, especially defensively, they have some talent, but always seemed to follow something good up with something bad. I think this game comes down to who I think will be the best player on the field in Harnish. He is pretty damn impressive. He's been really accurate throwing, he's ran his ass off all season and he's got a great offensive line in front of him that hasn't allowed a sack all season! Over his last 6 games he rushed 104 times for 909 yards and completed 93 of 160 passes for 1,348 yards, 11 touchdowns and no interceptions. that's sick! asu has a solid defense, they held Tech in check and in fact haven't given up over 375 yds of offense to any team. niu defense improved by about 10 ppg in the last half of the season, they will (holy shit the bronco's just beat pittsburgh haha) be missing good linemen tonight, hopefully that doesn't hurt them too bad. no coach for asu, certainly doesn't help asu. 2 other points I think are important here, the mac is 3-1 in bowls and i think that is telling, the other point is this. Doeren knows that if they get the win tonight, they will more than likely be ranked in the top 25 going in to next season - that has a tremendous affect on recruiting and I think Harnish will be the difference here and get the mac their 4th win and get niu ranked in the top 25.
