two teams that have had pretty good success this year, once Nelson came in, BYU began playing solid offense and becoming one of the best teams converting on 3rd down in the nation. Kinne and Nelson should battle all day long. I think BYU has a tough run game to aid Nelson today as well. BYU defense ranks 17th in total defense, No. 8 in fewest plays of plays allowing 10 or more yards (122). Kinne will have to find ways to score in the red zone. BYU leads the nation in allowing only two red-zone touchdown passes this season. I think BYU was tested very early with the road win at ole miss, the loss to texas and the shellacking by utah, but enter Nelson and they just start hitting on all cylinders. aside a 10 point loss to tcu and byu has pretty very solid on both sides of the ball. mendenhall is good bowl coach, tulsa has had success as well, i think BYU ability to convert on 3rd down and their stingy defense will be the difference here. i also like they have moved from fav to dog.
BYU +3
How will a Big East team that challenged for a piece of the top spot fare against a Big 12 team that went 3-6 in conference play? we'll find out but I think rutgers defense will be the difference here, not to mention this home game they are basically playing. Iowa st is here b/c they beat ok st. and they deserve it for that win, but they weren't able to do much else after. I'll take schiano over rhodes and the rutgers defense over iowa st. they are in NYC, seeing the empire state building, ringing the nyse bell, rutgers is going acrossthe hudson. rutgers hasn't played on espn nationally this season, so i don't think most people really know much about either, but they know they saw iowa st beat oklahoma st on Friday night, i think defense is the difference here and again, a fav has moved to a dog. i like it.
Rutgers +1
also like the acc success in this bowl and grobe as a TD dog is good stuff. I'll take a scrappy wake team against an SEC team who has just had their confidence taken from them this year.
Wake +7.5 (-130)
let's roll............
