Alabama has the #1 CB in the nation, the #1 SS in the nation, the #1 FS in the nation, and are coached by the best secondary coach in all of football. Not taking anything away from LSU's secondary, because they are outstanding, but Alabama clearly has the best secondary in the country. Alabama seconday is also much larger than LSU's seconday, and they don't surrender 463 passing yards to Big East schools.

I already have Bama -4 and will be adding a lot more at anything -6.5 or less. I like Bama to win by double digits.
LSU is a very good team but Alabama is a GREAT team. The Crimson Tide are MEN. These guys are beasts, monsters, whatever cliche you want to use. LSU are a little small and more built upon speed. The problem is Alabama has speed and power. I think their defense will go down as one of the best ever, and I said that before the start of the year. Give me Saban in a huge game like this 100/100. He's the best coach in the game and will have this team ready to abuse LSU.
i got 2 units on bama -4

Like they abused Auburn last year in a huge game? LSU is larceny +4 and above.
Get your head out your ass bro. They DID abuse Auburn last year in the first half, then Cam "once a decade college messiah type player" Newton happened. Does LSU have a Tebow, a Cam, a Herschel Walker, a Charles Woodson even ??(honey badger this and that he's no charles woodson or Champ bailey--He won't score points this game, and points will be hard to find vs Bama Saturday)...NOO!! LSU does not have a one man miracle on wheels which means if Bama comes out firing on all cylinders and gets a two score lead...Its gonna be a long day with Mr. Richardson running downhill.

I think LSU is trying to grab a page out of Auburn's National Tittle LY (Cam Newton) and putting in Jefferson who is mobile. I don't know, I think that could backfire....Jefferson is prone to make mistakes and Newton is a stud....gonna staying away from this game, unless there's some infor that will sway me???????

I think the following quote shines a little more sunlight on my comment about Saban being the best secondary coach in football . . . at any level.
"There was a time in rookie camp where they would have us go up and draw defenses on the board. Our base 'D' at Alabama was their complicated 'D'. It got to a point where everything out of my mouth was going to shock those guys. I would go up to the board and draw things and the coaches would be copying it down.” – Javier Arenas (Former player for Nick Saban at Alabama, and current Kansas City Chief)

With all due respect Jimmy that means nothing. Did it mean anything last year in Baton Rouge when ALABAMA came in as a 6 point favorute and lost 24-21? These are 2 very good football teams and more then likely it will be a close game til the 4th quarter when someone makes the big play or creates a turn over.

I'll only bet Alabama if I can get -3 or less. I don't like the word value but a field goal or less at home during the night is sweet. Otherwise I'm going to stay away, LSU is no joke.

Also Jimmy please terll me what BAMA cornerback is vbetter then Maurice Claiborne oif LSU? Per all the experts Claiborne will be the number 0ne corner taken in the draft. Now he is a beast of a cover corner.

Bama is a beast of a defense. Their offense is weak as hell. Lsu has offense edge and not to far behind on defense. I will take the points whatever they will be.

This thread is too funny....Guys Bama wins this game going away. 14 or more. Keep throwing your money on a too good to be true line. It is hilarious that ryan says that LSU is better than Bama at every position except LB and the RB's are a wash. Are you kidding me bro? QB- wash yes I said wash. RB- Bama OL-wash WR-LSU TE- Bama DL-LSU LB- Bama DB- wash K/p/special teams-LSU no contest
The reason I give QB edge to LSU is because you have two proven SEC qbs w/ LSU and only one with Bama. If McCarron goes out they are left with Sims and he had his shot earlier in the year and didn't pan out. You are right on the TE, although LSU doesn't really use the TE that much. I disagree on the OLine. Statiscally speaking LSU has yielded less sacks than Bama. I know you will argue that Bama has more rushing yards bc of their OLine...well let's not forget Bama has played Kent State, North Texas, Ole Miss, etc..so those stats are a little scewed. Plus I think someone is banged up on the Bama Oline (not sure, but I thought I remember that...im sure the freak can let us know that). As for the DB's Bama may have more NFL talent (although I could argue that too, as Reid and Lotson are up and coming stars at safety and they will definitely be drafted just as high as Bama's SS and FS), LSU is creating more turnovers out of the secondary than Bama. That is why I lean to LSU on the edge.
These types of games usually come down to turnovers. LSU is +15 and Bama +6. Don't discount this stat when capping the game. And for all of you who think LSU is going to roll over and get blown out by Bama are crazy! While home field is a big advantage, LSU has gone to T-Town before when these teams were both ranked top 5 and they came out victorious!

You asked me a question, and I gave you the courtesy of a reply. How much consideration you give my reply is completely up to you.
I have not rendered any opinion on a wager because my book has yet to release a line on the game, but I expect a very good game. As I have said on this forum since January, I think Alabama will win the game. The margin of victory is another matter altogether. I will definitely take Alabama if I can get -3. I'm not sure if I'm willing to stray any higher than that at this time.
Alabama is the bigger, stronger more physical team so I think they will also win the physical battle as they did two years ago at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The score in that game wasn't really indicative of the physical beating they took that day. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out this year.

nfldraftscout.com ranks Dre Kirkpatrick as the #1 CB.
Phil Steele ranked Kirkpatrick #3 and Claiborne #6.
As a unit Phil Steele ranks Alabama #1 and LSU #4.
I think it's hair-splitting at this point. Both are outstanding corners, and both will play on Sundays. The difference is Kirkpatrick has better coaching, is better in run support, has a better supporting cast in the defensive backfield and, as a team, Alabama is deeper.
Again, that's not to take anything away from LSU's defensive backfield. I doubt anyone will deny that they are an outstanding unit. But is LSU's unit better than Alabama's? I don't think so, and apparently the experts agree.

First intelligent and realistic comment I've read about this matchup.

No offense but posting this comment somehow implies Saban is some kind of miracle worker and so much smarter than NFL coaches. I seem to recall a stint with the dolphins that seems to indicate otherwise.

So I dont agree with the better coaching argument. But you are right they are basically 1A and 1B as far as defensive backfields come.
In the end I think it comes down to turnovers....always does and LSU has only turned the ball over 3 times this year as opposed to 8 for the Tide.
Should be a hell of a game!
LSU and Alabama are two of the best teams in the country at protecting the football, so I really don't think it'll come down to turnovers. If there are turnovers, I think LSU will most likely be the team committing them.
