Not much of a limb.. think 6 is their ceiling this year as well..

I am really torn on how many games Michigan will win this year.  Two things in question are the D and kicking game from last year.  4 out of 14 fgs made last year would kill any team.  I think Michigan has too much offensive power and will be a bowl team.  Robinson is just one of those athletic freaks that should put up more staggering numbers this year.  Really like the Hoke hire and while I could easily see them just winnng 5-6 games, wouldn't be surprised if they won max of 8.

I agree with you about Robinson being a freak athletic, but will Hoke change his game from what Rich wanted out of him. I can say this the young man can haul ass, for having his shoe strings untied.

Agree, Denard is a good athlete and runner..

Wonder how much running room he'll have being under center?  He didn't exactly 'wow' anybody with his throwing abilities LY..

Yep definitely some big questions to be answered early in the season.  Michigan won 7 games last year and there D and kicking game was quite horrible.  The offense should be one of the bright spots for Michigan.  Have alot of experience coming back.  Robinson doesn't fit a pro style offense.  That being said he is a superior college athlete and think Hoke and Robinson will work some magic together.  Robinson has that "it" factor cause he knows how to takeoff or direct receivers when the pocket collapses. Threw 62% last season as well, probably would have been at least 66% if Roundtree wouldn't have dropped so many

Comeon guys look at this schedule

I would say Michigan is good for a minimum of 8 wins

They very well could surprise some people with more the entire offense is back. Mattison will make the D mediocre at worst

Minnesota
Purdue
at Illinois

at Iowa?
San Diego State?
Notre Dame?

at Northwestern??
at Michigan State??
Nebraska???

Robinson is working his rear end off to become an NFL QB that is his dream Mike Vick is his role model

For that matter Devin Gardner is too don't worry QB play won't be the problem for Michigan in 2011

Why do you think the Purdue or Illinois games are a given?  UM struggled to put them both away last year..

And it's tough to think, even with the majority of its offense back, UM is going to have a top 5 O again, esp. going to the pro-style.. OC said he expects Denard to be in the gun 8-10 times per game, that's not that much..

Did you see the spring game?  I'm expecting a pretty significant dropoff as the majority of Denard's yards were either taking off from the gun, or faking the run and throwing to wide open WRs- both will prove to be more difficult under center..

Though I do agree the D will be better

I don't think they will struggle to put away weak teams this year, simple as that

They don't necessarily need to improve on O, they need to become more efficient at scoring points

A lot of that will come from the Kicking game being much improved (with you know, an actual kicker) and not giving up insane yardage on Special Teams

The d should be better so overall field position should be better

If the O can score points instead of ending with a turnover, a missed FG, a turnover on downs, they don't necessarily have to be "Top 5" in yardage to be effective this year

Denard (and Devin) will be just fine these are talented kids working their tails off I do not expect drop-off from the QB position I trust the coaches will utilize his talents appropriately while protecting him from injury (left every game last year with some type of injury)

Much overlooked the OLine is one of the best in the league (top 25 nationally) with a solid anchor in Molk and 3 starters returning

    

My prediction for Big Blue: 8-9 wins
Hate to say it but a lot of that rides on the Notre Dame/SDSU OOC games

Kicker will be a true frosh.. hard to peg if he'll be good or not..

OL is solid, but has been zone blocking the last 3 years- new scheme for them as well + I believe they aren't the biggest of groups, could get swallowed up vs. larger DL's of the B10

Agree on UM being more efficient, but you and I just differ on what you're expecting from the QB position..

UM was so good on O last year, because of the mis-direction and the speed Denard had in open space- that, for the most post, will be gone this yr + they will be relying more on RBs this year and not one stood out last year or at the spring game..

I know it was the spring game, but denard just looked very uncomfortable taking snaps under center (i know he was under center in HS), but the dude is a spread QB playing in a pro-style offense.. And with the overall dip in Denard's numbers, expect UM's numbers to suffer as well..

Not to mention I think @Iowa, @MSU, Nebraska are all for sure losses..

throw in OSU, @Northwestern, ND, @Illinois.. and they could easily be a 5 win team

dick rod fucked this program up for a good 5 years.  brady hoke is now stuck with a bunch of spread offense recruits which is not what he is going to recruit and their defense is so freakin bad jesus christ isnt going to make them light and day better this year.   so now you have a spread offense qb with a coach who will end up recruiting a conventional qb and a d that will still blow.  it was a lot easier for robinson to run from a spread formation.  dont get me wrong this guy will still be a highlight reel often but he is no pure passer and dont expect michigan to change till hoke gets his recruits in.  i wouldnt take any of their games for granted as wins this year.
