After watching the game, I think they are both hype trains. Bo Nix looked very much like a true freshman. But Florida had 4 turnovers themselves.
No play for me but this Florida defense will finally be tested; additionally, the Florida offense looked pretty meek except for 2 big plays. Interested to see where the point total moves to...

I agree with that jwheels. Well said.

I'll agree that the LSU offense will finally be tested. But why doesn't that apply to the UF defense as well? The best offense (by the numbers) they have faced so far would actually be Miami...
My prediction is LSU will have a tougher go of it but I've hardly got any confidence in the Florida offense at all. If I play on this game, I would lean the Under 55. LSU wins in a 24-10 type game.

Maybe I'm the only one... I just don't think Dan Mullen has done anything to prove he's an elite coach and y'all are comparing him to Urban Meyer. Above average is about where I slot him until I see a real consistent product. Florida is his chance to produce that consistent team year in and year out.

Ive never fully bought in on LSU... They’ve proven me wrong more than once tho. The line is telling for this one.... Thats a huge number for a game like this. I expected something around 8-9..... seeing 14 raised an eyebrow... To me, it means LSU can cover

I'll go along with the under, but another key difference between the 06 team and this one is the O line. The 06 team had a far more dominant Offensive line. The run game isn't going to open up because the horses to open it up don't exist up front. This game isn't in the swamp either. Line is close, play the under if you want to play the game.

Train, I apologize for hijacking your thread. I will continue to follow as always but shall recuse myself from further comments. Much respect to you and jwheels and both of your capping experience! BOL to both of you!
But wheels, my man... The "hardest" school to win and recruit at in the SEC? I present to you exhibit A: Vanderbilt University. Mississippi State is near the bottom sure, but so are Kentucky and Arkansas and they have their years as well. Miss St went to the SECCG in 1998.
In his stint at Florida, he had a fellow by the name of Tim Tebow his entire tenure. The year after Mullen left, Florida still won the SEC East. So is it play calling or is it Meyer's recruiting? Recruiting is 90% of college football these days; his best season at Miss St was when he had Dak Prescott. You can't talk about his recruiting hauls with a 2 year sample size. Florida was 13th in 2018, 9th in 2019, and presently sit at 15th for 2020. I believe it's the last 5, maybe 6 years, the national champion had a previous 4 year average recruiting class in the top 4.
So sure, he's doing more with less. Who else could do it this year? Other than Auburn, who has Florida played? A struggle win against Kentucky, and Miami, a couple FCS opponents and Auburn at home. How about Mark Stoops doing more with less? Scott Frost at UCF? What Mack Brown is doing this year? Kirk Ferentz at Iowa year in and year out, consistently putting a good product on the field and Iowa probably has a tenth of the resources as Florida. I could name more. Speaking of that Miami game, didn't Mullen's play calling almost botch that one? You can thank another true freshman quarterback for Miami boogering that up.
You say Florida isn't great this year.... but they're ranked #7. You shouldn't be ranked at 7 if you aren't great. I'm simply basing my judgement on what I've seen on the field. Miami and Kentucky were too close. The Auburn game is misleading thanks to the big plays. Take away the 88yd run by Perine and Florida had 44 yds on 32 carries. We both know, and Mullen knows too, you can't rely on hitting 60+ yard plays every game; it's not a sustainable model.
You can question my opinion all you want but don't question my football knowledge, I'll stack it up against anybody's. And I stand by that opinion, Mullen is not a great head coach until proven otherwise. A good one, but not great. I went in to the AU/UF game thinking Florida was a little overrated. And after watching the game, I wonder if both teams aren't a little overrated especially given what their previous opponents are doing. Time will tell of course! We've gotten past the fluffy part of the schedule and now dive headfirst into conference play.
And if Florida walks into Baton Rouge and beats LSU, I'll be the first one back in the forum to admit Dan Mullen is turning the corner as a head coach. The best value in that game to me is the Under at 55 points, 24/27-14 type game. You'll get more value with Florida and the points I suppose but I just don't see how Florida puts many points on the board at all here which even makes that a risky play IMO.

Willie Taggart is all you need to know .... Clemson is due to come and play their best game of the year. They will be well rested, have had time to heal some injuries, and Dabo and Max Venerable will have them primed to beat Taggart into the ground. Will it be enough to cover this large spread, I do not know, but I do feel they will be close to doing so. As much as I love the Tigers, it is a no play for me.
