My thoughts on the games...
Oklahoma -20.5 @ Tulsa - Last Saturday, Tulsa benefitted from a ton of BYU miscues, turnovers, and mistakes last week. If not for those, BYU probably wins. Say what you want about OU's schedule. The defense is giving up a meager average of 43 yards/game on the ground, and 135 yards/game through the air. Oh yeah...the defense has also only given up 2 TD's this season. Do I think Tulsa can score? Yeah, sure. Do I think they can score more than twice? Probably not. Adrennaline wears off in a big game after the first few plays or series. After that, it's all preparation and execution...and you can bet OU will be ready. I see OU in an elite class with USC, LSU, and UF this season, and they'll prove it tomorrow night.
Penn St -2.5 @ Michigan - Best defense Michigan will have faced thus far. The Wolverines will have either a banged up Henne or 2nd time starter in Mallet. Either way, the Nittany Lions will bring the heat and force at least a turnover or two. Including their shutout win over ND, the Wolverines are giving up well over 150 yards/game on the ground. The thunder and lightening combo in Penn St's backfield should have plenty of success. Michigan just getting too much respect here.
Oregon -16.5 @ Stanford - I think the line is an overreaction to Stanford laying the wood to San Jose State last Saturday (37-0). Let's not forget, this is a Stanford team that was crushed at home in this season's opener to an above average UCLA team (17-45). Now they host Oregon, which has an offense that's averaging 46 points, 325 yards rushing, and roughly 200 yards passing per game. The Cardinals defense will probably be the softest Oregon has faced thus far, which bodes well for both Stewart and Dixon. Since this is a Pac-10 matchup, I doubt Oregon will overlook Stanford. Last year, Oregon trounced Stanford 48-10, and the Ducks appear to be significantly better this season (especially on offense). Dixon and crew could put up 50+. Do you really see Stanford scoring more than 20 on a team that has played Houston (very good offense), Michigan, and Fresno State, yet only given up an average of 18 points/game?
Baylor -3 @ Buffalo - Baylor should light up the Barfalo secondary. I can't see Barfalo winning this possible shootout.
Memphis +7 @ UCF - Tailing my buddy horses here. Teams are fairly even in terms of talent and ability, so I'm more than happy to take the touchdown.
Iowa St @ Toledo +3.5 - See BDK's thread on this one. From a situational standpoint, the Cyclones couldn't be in a worse spot than they are this Saturday. On top of that, Toledo finally plays an opponent they can beat (at home!).
More to come!
