QB - what's happening, good to see you back bud
Oklahoma St 48 Tulsa 20 - like the OSU advantage at QB....have to believe in the back of their mind still remember CMU game and willing to finish strong in the 4th....Tulsa outscored 50-27 over last couple years vs. ranked...new QB and offense probably needs sharp game similar to 52-38 loss at OU in '15 to get under number
Arizona St 55 NM St 20 - NM St mostly shredded against decent teams average 57-17 over the last couple years against big 5 and NM next up...offense is decent and probably needs great game to be similar to LY 62-42 against KY...and ASU defense was suspect...ok horrible although did face a bunch of NFL level QBs and new DC Bennett known for quick improvement...like ASU upgrade at QB and both looked good in the spring and expecting good things from WR Humphrey
Notre Dame 37 Temple 10 - seem to recall at one point LY Owls going on crazy 11-0 ATS run....although defense was good still allowed 30+ to 3 of 4 decent offenses faced and loses some talent...and QB looks pretty unsettled and not the best place to figure things out....expecting ND to come out strong after 4-8 season and eventually grind Owls into the ground
Texas 45 Maryland 17 - obvious Herman will want to put up good showing in opener...like the advantage at QB and running game...Terps have some talent..err maybe..however gave up a lot of yards and points to decent teams last year and overmatched in this spot
Ohio St 44 Indiana 14 - Indiana has actually played OSU pretty tough over the past few years....Bucks probably come out ready after finishing LY with 31-0...Hoosiers defense improved last year not at this level though...expect Wilson to improve OSU offense...not to mention some insight on opponent and talented defense to shut them down
USC 45 W Mich 10 - although USC WR are young and WMU defense still has some talent, huge QB advantage...expecting Broncos to bounce some after great season, coaching change, new QB and losing ridiculously talented WR Davis (1500 yds)...expecting somewhat similar matchup to 38-12 loss at OSU in '15 other than facing better QB
Memphis 51 ULM 14...ULM mostly killed against nonconference FBS over last couple years average 47-12 and not seeing any reason Memphis offense averaging 46 ppg at home last year should not put up similar here
So Carolina 23 NC St 20 - not seeing much separating these two much less five points worth...SC seems to have found their QB with Bentley...return of LB Moore to defense should provide some leadership...also tackles...assuming he's not suspended for beating up people...NCS not beating many decent teams by TD+ over the past couple years
NW 37 Nevada 20 - expecting new Wolfpack offense to be improved under Mumme, Cornwell and good skill players...NW not known for running things up...with Purdue (by 28) the only FBS win by more than this number over the past 3 seasons,,,hell no surprise if this one even goes down to the wire
UCF 28 Fla Int 17 - err yeah not a lot of FIU tickets over the years...however feeling like Davis brings some good coaching and motivation...and coming off 53-14 killing last year should add to it....expecting some closer to 15-14 matchup the year before...FIU with good core of players returning and in state rivalry
Illinois 27 Ball St 26 - Illinois no great history of winning by double digits...like the Ball St experience advantage at QB and talented Gilbert should do some damage running...biggest concern is having some playmakers emerge in young and thin WR...still though BSU beaten by more than 10 only twice last year and hung around with much better Indiana team
Middle Tenn 23 Vandy 21 - expecting MTSU to be fairly juiced after LY 47-24 loss despite 495-344 yardage advantage...likely something closer to 17-13 matchup in '15 other than higher scoring...MTSU solid QB advantage...dores lose tackling machine Cunningham....number of Vandy road wins by TD+ against FBS over past 3 years....none
