Trump said it was a democratic hoax that would just go away ..... Having him as a president is far more dangerous than going to a shady car mechanic for open heart surgery

..and the other side of the isle said we had nothing to worry about..its just the Flu...its okay to go to China..better yet, go to China town and join them in bringing in the new year....I think its dangerous either way..Biden who cant remember his name or what planet hes on.. and when a CNN reporter asked him "sanders endorsed you Joe..any thoughts". I have never had a flu shot. Why? Because viruses mutate all the time and a new one seems to emerge every year. The vaccine shot you get was derived from a virus previously prevalent. Chances of that particular virus re-emerging?? CDC reports flu shots are 40-60% effective WHEN they match the virus that is circulating. COVID-19 is a flu, how did the flu shot work for that??
I'm not against vaccines, just believe flu shots not worth it. Better to practice good hygiene, wash those hands, and I'm not one for crowds so that helps too.
HockeyNight you were dead on that viruses do not like heat and humidity. Scientists are finding the coronavirus dies pretty quickly when exposed to sunlight and humidity.
The whole problem has been quick and accurate testing. They get that solved and things were return to...close to normal.

I'm a young, healthy person & get the flu shot every year. 1) Because I'm required to in my line of work 2) Most importantly, the vaccine isn't about me. I'll get the flu and recover 100% of the time. But if I get the flu and infect a transplant patient, cancer patient, elderly patient, newborn patient, or other immunocompromised person they may not be so lucky. The flu shot isn't about you, it's about those who can't fight it themselves. Just remember that next time you have a chance to get a small poke in the arm! The vaccine for influenza is based on whatever strains circulate in the southern hemisphere during our summers, we prepare for those strains, however as you mentioned the virus mutates. Influenza mutates much more rapidly than coronaviruses. Covid-19 has a couple of strains floating around, but there is reason to be optimistic about a vaccine. The coronavirus mutates extremely slow, and the different mutations have a very similar genome so a targeted vaccine will likely prompt your immune system to recognize and fight any strain you come into contact with. Since so many people don't understand the true point of vaccines/buy the asinine conspiracies floating around, I'm more hopeful for a good therapeutic like remdesivir yields strong clinical results as that will ease peoples fears long before a vaccine is available.
UNIMAN, to clarify something you said covid-19 or any other coronavirus is not a flu. Different virus all together, but both can cause pneumonia and ARDS which can be fatal. You're spot on with practicing good hand hygiene, it's incredibly important to stop the spread. Also, agree on the testing availability comment. Get your flu shot

If they start practise and 1 player anywhere gets COVID they pretty much have to shut everything down. It wouldn't be fair if half the country was practising and the other half could not.

FWIW, there is an actual betting line for "will CFB start on/by 9/4/20" Yes +250 No -360 Last posting had No at -900, so significant optimism right now that things kick off as scheduled. Fingers crossed....
They polled all 130 ADs and 35% thought the season would start on time, that probably explains the line move.

Thanks for sharing. Even in the hospital we are changing policy & procedures by the day, sometimes by the hour. Nobody has a concrete answer on what's next. The outlook on this thing will probably change 50x in the next month alone depending on how some clinical trials progress & what happens when we relax social distancing measures. NHL, NBA & MLB will at least attempt to return June/July. Going to be a lot of practice runs for the NFL & CFB to learn from. Only difference is with CFB students are involved and it'll be hard to justify having them play if campuses aren't up and running.

No way will the college football season starts on time. That’s why anyone on this site that bets on win totals is waste of time. All those bets will be refunded. I have a bet on the Champions League that will not be finished but my bet is not refunded yet. Your just tying up your money for months with no outcome of the bet. NFL could start on time but I’m not counting on that.

Bruh don't get mad cause your CL future got canceled. It's bankroll management to never have a need to use that money for nothing else other than betting anyways. As far as CFB season, as someone else mentioned in this thread it all depends on if the schools feel like it's safe to let students back. Football is a big income maker at a couple of schools, but tuition is the biggest income at most. Spring and Summer semesters are already messed up, imagine if there is no fall semesters at some of these schools things will really be jacked up.

if schools fall semesters are done online then no way fball is played. What school is gonna have the fball players on campus for fball but not have other students. We will know for sure by 3rd week of June, fball players are usually on campus a month before other students. Most colleges students go back a week or 2 before Labor Day. So, fball players head back end of July, they should know by late June if they are reporting early for fball

Can't speak for all, but our current plan is to re-open campus 8/1. Same day fall camp begins (strange coincidence right??). About a month later than coaches feel they need to prepare for an on-time start to the season. Most of that is strength/conditioning purposes. Now is this something that can be initiated remotely? Or will schools make exceptions for student-athletes to return July 1 with proper protocols in place?

HockeyNight11 The strength and conditioning I cannot answer but the schools are Phase 2 of "the reopening of America". Before Phase 1 you have to go through protocols that include downward trend of the number of cases of Covid, robust testing and some of the same things we are doing now for two weeks. Phase 1 is similar to what were are doing now with social distancing, avoiding groups etc. and is also for two weeks. So your pretty much at a month best case scenario before you can think about opening schools. Phase 2 includes schools reopening, groups of more than 50 should be avoided, and bars can reopen and also two weeks. Here in PA. that would fall in line with July 1, but obviously some states will be later than others.

My guess 50% ....We should have already been on lockdown but the orange lunatic thought it was a democratic hoax
Double - You have swallowed the mainstream media pill when you say that Trump called the virus a hoax. That is how the "fake"
news reported it. As they formed the comments into the narrative that you haters wanted to hear. Here's the fact - He called the negative reactions
of those whose hatred of him is so vile that they would rather see him fail than succeed for the good of the country a hoax. That is the fact. But, hey
if it fits into what you want to believe than so be it. But you are wrong when you say he called the virus a hoax.

I agree the news media has their own agenda slant on everything! Cannot trust what you read as accurate. IMO, early on Trump was balancing the economy and the pandemic. Playing cheerleader so the stock market wouldn't go crazy.
It has been reported the coronavirus mutated into a more contagious strain in Europe and this strain hit the East coast first. Makes sense as Washington and California had the early hits but didn't go as bad as New York and Michigan. Seems like China got off easy, maybe the mutation could re-infect China.
Will say this, when Trump suggested disinfectants injected into the body and UV light into the body I thought he was as crazy as they come! I saw him say it on tv, he meant it, and wholly chit!!! Is he that freaking stupid??? We have no hope of a competent leader for the next 4-5 years!
The vaccine when available should put us back to being close to normal. The anti-body test should help too, IF we can actually build an immunity. I can see all athletic teams required to have immunity/anti-body testing.
Good things may come from this pandemic. The scientific bio-research community should get more research $$$ from here out and will receive much more respect that they deserve.

"I can see all athletic teams required to have immunity/anti-body testing."
Yeah.. I can see some problems with that arising just like everything else in this country, not everyone is on board with the vaccination idea. I can see players not wanting to get vaccinated and star players/recruits not wanting to get vaccinated. As far Federal mandatory vaccinations for now are mostly for foreigners coming over to the US, and state laws vary and is mostly for children. Just like the"Reopening of America" has mixed results state to state I believe mandatory vaccination for anybody will have mixed results.

Just like gambling, it's risk vs reward. The flu shot only good for flu virus targeted and then about 50% effective. Have had several flu's over the years with no problems battling them. As I grow older the scales tilt towards getting the flu vaccination. Parents are both deceased and I'm not in contact with vulnerable folks so I choose no flu shot at this time. The risk maybe more imaginary, flu vac's proven safe, still I see little reward.
I would have no problem with the Coronavirus vaccine. Would get it when available. Want no part of that monster virus!! Big risk not getting immunities to Coronavirus, big reward having immunity.

Trump is going to lose on November 3, 2020. Biden is a doof, but at least he will have competent advisors around whom I believe he will listen to...We deserve better than Trump and his clown circus of incompetence and corruption...Good must win over evil...and that's from a lifelong Republican/Fiscal Conservative until 2015 when Trump announced that he was running for President...I hope Biden wins and I hope the Democrats win the majority in the Senate. That will serve those unethical, and spineless Republicans well, for allowing a demagogue populist to kidnap my formerly beloved GOP...Screw them all...They deserve what they get...

It doesn't look like my university will be open until mid-July, and probably not until August 1 or later. If some teams can start practicing now, it doesn't seem fair. But the NCAA is desperate for the TV money, so I doubt they care about fairness now.

I would put it at 1% chance now with a miracle happening. Doesn’t look like any college football in the fall this year.
D2 has suspended all fall sports, Oregon has made it so no large gatherings all through September , which means no football practices for college teams. State of California has shut down all 23 universities through the fall semester.
This will have a domino effect and more states will follow.

Afraid you are right. Does not look good at this point in time. Although the newest testing is much quicker they just can't seem to manufacture enough.
This pandemic has revealed just how much the United States relies on overseas manufacturing. Over 40% of our pharmaceuticals are from other countries, hard to believe.

The mortality rate among young people <25ish is anywhere from like 0.06-0.3% from what I’ve seen in the US. That number is probably lower given how many people don’t get tested because they don’t show symptoms or just don’t think they’re sick enough to seek care.
still got plenty of time to improve testing even further and see what drugs and vaccines become available in the months ahead. Wouldn’t be shocked to see the PAC 12 not play in the fall on time, but I think they need to think outside the box a little bit with the student athletes. Still have plans to be on campus 8/1 where I am & football without fans is supported all the way to the government level as of now (B1G country)
This virus is no fun to get, but I think it’s exponentially higher than the 1.4 million cases in the US that have been confirmed. Wouldn’t be shocked if it’s 50x higher or more. Seems like nursing homes and severely compromised individuals are the majority of fatalities. Still sad, but pretty much what you expect in a contagious respiratory virus unfortunately.

We have to understand that the NFL is much different than college football. From what I've heard , if the university isn't open, then no football.. that makes college football a much more difficult scenario
