Agree there, Rush. With NCAA pretty much saying conferences/schools can make independent decisions though there is no reason to worry about every school cancelling the season based on schools from one conference. No football will result in catastrophic damage to some conferences it seems that will essentially spell the end of athletics for some.
Would be really surprised if there was no football across the country come September. Won’t know until we get to mid July, so no need to jump to any conclusion good or bad right now. All you’re seeing from me, other posters, medical professionals, media outlets, universities, etc are just opinions and guesses lol

Yeah it's starting look bleak for college football. I think the bigger issue is, is this where we start to see the split of P5 and G5? Cause I can see a case where SEC, B10, ACC, and B12 say hey where ready to play. P12 is going to have some issues, Oregon can play just without any crowds. California seems to be dug in on their stance and I don't know how that effects the UC(LA) and Berkley schools and Stanford and USC are private schools but I'm sure it will in some way. I've already heard rumblings from fans about "hey I don't want to miss out on a season because X(G5) school." I think we are seeing the first stages of the eventual split of the power conferences and the rest.

I don't think public/private matters. Private schools still need the state and local governments to allow it, and they need teams to play. I think it will be state by state.
But as soon as 1 student athlete dies from COVID, they will shut everything down everywhere IMO.
The MAC already made a lot of cost cutting moves - getting rid of MAC tournaments for the non-revenue sports, shortening the seasons, more conference games, etc - and they did this for the next 4 years minimum.
If there is no football, they still need to pay the coaches and other staff and pay for 85 scholarships. That is something close to 10 million a year even for a smaller school...

I think it does or else you just save the time and say ALL schools are closed not just SJSU,Fresno St., SDSU, Fullerton etc. I have no knowledge of the CA school system and what the difference of the schools are, but there is a difference between the classification of them. How it impacts them? Your answer would be as good as mines.

I'm not saying your wrong, I actually agree, but I believe we have to deal with the fact that this virus is just going to be a part of the landscape. People are going to die and it's going to suck. This virus is going to be around for the rest of the year and probably into next year. All we can do is are part to stop it from spreading.

If there are no college students on campus, there will be no college football, university’s can boost enrollment with online sign up for classes, which if you’re having a tough time being accepted may be a good thing,my guess is college football will be cancelled.

I feel like the surge in online learning capabilities heightens the odds of a football season. Allows schools to stagger days for which being on campus is required. Allows schools to maintain social distancing standards while having campus open. Increases likelihood any outbreak can be controlled and monitored in a safer way if less people are present on a campus. If anything online courses might save athletics.

Sorry PeeWeefan111 just tried to point you in the right direction, didn't mean to invoke your classic "I know you are, but what am I?" line. Tell Large Marge whattup out there. Back to the topic at hand.
"I feel like the surge in online learning capabilities heightens the odds of a football season." HockeyNight11
The NCAA doesn't seem like it wants to come off its stance of on campus classes. They want too much they want classes with students and fans and that sounds like a recipe for bad results. I know they they are not going to pack people in classes/stadiums, but it still doesn't seem right. It's probably easier to distance at a stadium than a classroom since most of the are design to fit a lot of people in a not so big space.

More good news for the prospects of a 2020 season. I think I initially said 85% chance it starts on time, I revise to 95% on time with a 5% chance of a delayed start. Things should continue to improve with safety measures and the summer heat/humidity helping our cause.
If there is going to be an issue, it seems more likely things go bad in Nov-Dec-Jan if a deadlier second wave strikes coinciding with flu season. Although, Moderna is moving forward with a strong vaccine candidate that could be ready in the Nov-Jan timeframe if desperately needed.

I do believe we will see a CFB season however teams from certain states such as Cal. , NY, Michigan, and New Jersey will probably be mainly on the Road. Hmmm I wonder what these states have in common ?

I live in Michigan, again, and a life long conservative republican. Never voted for a democratic president.
My opinion. Michigan governor has done OK job with this virus. She made hard decisions and changed as the virus outbreaks changed. A lot I disagreed with but I understand why. Do see her getting airtime mileage with this, typical politician.
Trump has done Ok too. Remember this virus changed in Europe and became more aggressive. No one saw that coming. Detroit International Airport brought it here to Michigan, that's why Michigan had it bad. Not because the governor is a democrat. The virus was already wide spread before it was identified.
(And by the way, why were not the airports shutdown, lockdowned, etc??? Easiest way to spread it, in the plane and at the destination.)
TOO much finger pointing from both sides! Like a bunch of freaking children! You get sick of it!!
I like Trump when he's candid and straightforward, not a politically correct A-hole like most. But man he sure spits s*it out of his mouth time and time again.
Joe Biden, OMG NO! So pick the lesser of two evils.
Back to football, Jim Harbaugh has no problem playing without fans and neither do most of the players. So let's get this season going!!!

NYC GOVERNOR CUOMO March 1st
"Cuomo announced New York's first confirmed coronavirus patient: a woman in her late 30s believed to have contracted the virus in Iran. "There is no cause for surprise -- this was expected. As I said from the beginning, it was a matter of when, not if there would be a positive case of novel coronavirus in New York," Cuomo said. He assured New Yorkers that the general risk in the state "remains low." https://abcnews.go.com/.../timeline-cuomos.../story...

Also, words of encouragement at the end of February because Chinatown restaurant business was almost back up to normal. https://twitter.com/NYCMayorsO.../status...6368344066
NYC MAYOR DI BLASIO PART II March 2
"On March 1, the first case of the coronavirus was announced in New York City. At the time, more than 80,000 people worldwide had confirmed cases of the virus, and President Trump had issued travel warnings against South Korea and Italy. However, de Blasio wasn't as concerned. "Since I’m encouraging New Yorkers to go on with your lives + get out on the town despite Coronavirus, I thought I would offer some suggestions," de Blasio tweeted on March 2." https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/.../d...haunted...
NYC MAYOR DI BLASIO PART III March 10th "On March 10, the mayor insisted on MSNBC that "If you're under 50 and you're healthy, which is most New Yorkers, there's very little threat here. This disease, even if you were to get it, basically acts like a common cold or flu. And transmission is not that easy."
March 15th "On March 15, to the irritation of his own health department, the mayor claimed that "public health folks say it appears that transmission is when people are symptomatic." https://reason.com/2020/04/09/3-ways-new...-in-march/
