Paterno Not Guilty? Not So Fast My Friend

Paterno ignored the fact that his coach was raping a child in a Penn State locker room shower.....McQueary is a slime-ball......He is complicit no doubt but he was not the leader of the Penn State football team and many would argue of the university.

He had a responsibility to follow up......and follow up.....and follow up to make sure this was acted upon and Sandusky turned into the authorities and eliminated from the university and the community for the continued safety of the university and the community moving forward.......If he knew was told that Sandusky had been observed stealing money from the athletic department petty cash box......should or would he have followed up on that? Of course...

Don't see how Paterno can look himself in the mirror......maybe it's the dementia that keeps him from realizing what he has done........I don't know what your excuse is.....

Joe did what was required by him by his employer which is to report it to his superiors which he did.  Joe has no responsibility to 'follow up' when it's not his responsibility to do so.  It's Joe's superiors responsibility to follow through with this serious situation.  The only reason why Joe got fired is from public outrage and so PSU can save face.  Joe is only a coach and an employee for PSU.   Joe wasn't even a first hand witness to confidently say what really happened- all he can really do is report it.  

Tell us....what would you have done? Would you have done any differently than Paterno......Your answer will reveal your character.....or lack of it.....

I'm sure the school has an 'employee rules handbook', and if one of those rules is that you need to report any alleged crime to your superior then that is exactly what I would do.  Many of these establishment's rules is to not talk to the public- that is why they have pr reps etc.  It's my responsibility to follow school protocol to protect myself and my employment.  I'm not gonna go wild and call the press and police over hearsay.  I'm not gonna jeapordize my job especially when I wasn't even a witness to what happened.  I wouldn't jearpize sticking my neck out and risking losing my job over what I heard and might not necessarily even be true.  Why do you think you need to report and have them do an internal investigation?  And that is exactly what Joe did.

So after hearing that you have a child predator in your midst and then continue to see this monster on campus and in the athletic department and knowing he still has access to children through this sham foundation you would have no concern for these children's safety let alone your community and university residents??

You make it seem like Joe Paterno was the cashier at a gas station.  By the way, there are laws that protect Whistleblowers.  I learned that in college.  Also you wouldn't risk your neck cause you are a coward, Plain and Simple. if you had any balls you'd do the moral thing.

The guy did report it to his superiors.  He might not even be sure if McQueary's eyewitness account is true.  

   Everyone talks like they are so pious.   A bunch of wannabes pretending they will do 'the right thing'. 

Well.....it's pretty obvious you're not pretending.....please don't tell me that you plan to invite Sandusky into your home for Thanksgiving....so he can deliver the gift that keeps on giving to your own children......with your blessing......please don't tell us that's your plan.....

 Doesn't sound like you will ever be in a position to follow any rules since you might  not have much to lose.  Once you get ahold of the media and police and report what you 'heard', you will just get fired at Taco Bell and get a new job at Burger King.   You can be Rambo.   

Even if Joe did report what he 'heard' to the police, and after Joe gets fired for maybe breaking school policy, the question is would the police have been able to do anything about it?

It's not the school's or any professional establishment's goal to sweep things under the rug or do a coverup like many people on this forum are thinking, they want to properly do an internal investigation and take certain steps that are required by them.  Obviously, PSU screwed up somewhere but doesn't mean that Joe did anything wrong.
