Well, after the couple of years of transition to "his guys". New coaches are get "play againsts" in their first year. But after that...watch out. His competence will show soon enough.

i dont know fellas... everyone is so up on this for tech... fuck we arent a uga or even a clemson when it comes to how much we devote to football... we are a tiny school comparatively
theres a contingent of tech grads who are hellbent on making us some kind of national contender each year.
i'm not sayin we need to be like stanford or duke or northwestern, but fuck, winning 7 games a year and sneaking some big wins like we always do was our MO and I didn't mind it.
theres always the chance we sneak into the top 10 at seasons end, we did under joe ham and almost last year.
i just think we gotta make a decision if we are going to go full out and try to be a football school or keep on keepin on.
i guess my point is unless tech really busts ass and throws a lot of money at recruiting, coaching staff, etc, i expect johnson to do just what gailey did. i mean gailey didnt lose to uva or md, our players did.

Great point and Johnson is a great coach but i cant see Ga. Tech running that offense.

GT won't run that offense I'd imagine. . . at Navy, he had NO CHOICE but to run that offense in order to compete. He gets a bunch of 5'9" guys that can run and that's about it. At Navy, they aren't getting a 6'3" pocket passer anytime soon.
I could see him instilling the triple option in the offense for sure, but I doubt it will be the same thing he was running at Navy. He'll get a lot more to work with at Tech and he'll open up the playbook. It will be interesting, he's probably got a million plays he would have loved to run but never had the atheletes to do it.

Yeah really, Navy defense isn't all that great... I remember when Johnson was the Offensive Coordinator here at Hawaii and they used to run that offense, what a completely different offense we have now

They won't be running the triple option at Georgia Tech. I love Johnson as a coach and in a couple of years he will have this team contending in the ACC again.

I hope he can keep Tanuta as defensive coach....... GT will be a factor in the ACC....... I don't think you are going to see the same type option concept..... but the man knows how to score and he is a superb overall coach.... great attention to detail........ his players have always loved him, every place he has coached....
