This just out. I would wait for additional confirmation

5dimes has the line at -13 now. I'd love to hear your thoughts if this is good or bad seeing Brax is gone.

For me, it would be a " No Pick " at - 13 , I think I would
first like to see additional confirmation , then we'll see
what the oddsmakers give us. If it gets to - 10, I might
take a look at it.

Navy ML is definitely worth a look.   This game is in Maryland and not Columbus.  

Think that game will be decided late in the 4th quarter.

I've got MSU to be in the 4 team playoffs at + 400, so I
think this helps on that wager. This places a great deal
of pressure on OSU's defense and for a good capper
offer additional opportunity on B10 matchups. Injuries
are part of the game, and if it provides an advantage to
the bettor,it's up to us to take advantage.

addition by subtraction IMHO, I think Braxton Miller has been one of the most overrated players in College Football for years. Kid is fast and can run but his passing is beyond poor. The RS Frosh Barnett is a better all around QB and the Buckeyes are going to be better in a few games with him then with Braxton. The good defenses in the country would have no issues shutting down Braxton this year (as we saw at the end of last year). That kid feasted on horrible defenses and a soft schedule the last two seasons. The worst thing that could happen to the Buckeyes is that Braxton decides to come back for next year.

Buckeyes with a (protected) Miller were shaky as 17'+ favorites IMO...
  *NOW at 13'....OSU with a huge wake up / all hands on deck alert
   are worth a hard look here

Only reason I don't hit it now is to wait and see if it drops further....
  *I also got the Irish at 20'......after those injuries were announced

Handicapping angle  >   PLAY ON.....the team with the injured player(s) the FIRST week.....FADE the next week
  *situation dependent of course   

why?.....'down' team picks up their game......other relaxes a bit....'knowing' the other won't be as tough..........................
  *here a (perhaps) hungrier Buckeyes are more dangerous....

Really awesome post totally agree.

Assuming Barnett isn't Kent Grahams kid this is a good thing for OSU.  That game is a lock now.

This is laughable.   A RS Freshman who has never thrown a pass and is going to be working with an brand new offensive line is going to do better than what Braxton did?

I am still persistent that the angle here inst OSU offense vs Navy defense, but the other way around. OSU has far too much talent, plus a coach in Urban that likes to beat down inferior teams. If OSU can stop they Navy offense from running wild and hold them somewhere between 7-14 pts, then I believe that OSU should cover this game easily. Also I read somewhere that Barnett has taken most of the 1st team snaps in spring and fall camps while Braxton was recovering from surgery. I could be wrong tho.

For the eleventy-billionth time, fade gimmick offenses when a good defense have extra time to prepare.  That means fade Oregon and Navy in week 1.  Both gimmick offenses will struggle to score the first week.  I think Oregon will lose straight up.

As for this game, I don't think the absence of Braxton Miller will have much of an effect on the ultimate outcome.  I look for the Buckeyes to win by a final score of something like 37-14.

I am sure Jimmy was talking about the game between Oregon and Mich. St. in week 2. MSU plays Jacksonville St. so they will have lots of extra time preparing for the Oregon attack

I was leaning somewhat to Navy but I am going to jump all over Ohio St. now. I think they will be paying attention now and will eventually wear the much smaller Navy team down and will run away in the second half. I see them winning by at least 17 possibly much more.

With this news, I JUMPED on Navy+17 in the opening at M&T Bank

Navy was 8-2 ATS the last 10gms of the yr, including, PITT, ND..
OSU was 0-5 ATS down the stretch last yr, losing SU as fav's to MSU and CLEMSON… 

In there last meeting in '09, the 22pt dog Midshipmen lost by 4 at the Horseshoe…

Navy's option attack tends to give DC's problems, although Urban Meyer did have time on his side to prep a game-plan, the time to prep the  RS Freshmen QB isn't quite as plentiful… I don't except OSU to lose the game but i do except the line to drop from -17… Taking Navy+17 is a great value play.

Yeah, you're correct.  I know Oregon is playing Michigan State in week two, but I keep confusing it with week one games.  Same principle applies though as both teams are playing glorified scrimmage games in week one.  Oregon is getting all of Sparty's off-season attention.

A good point sure.....but not really that simple
  *change 'gimmick'....to one 'dimensional' maybe better
like  Navy.....Georgia Tech.....Wazzu maybe.....

So far it's true with the Ducks....
  *but their opponents were just better at THAT time

Ohio St?.....yep
Boise?....CK's 1st game .....at Boise yep
LSU?......he l l yes
Auburn....not a great D but too physical regardless
TEXAS?.....no but Ducks in a bad way....
  *but sure they would have done better if just a week's prep 

How bout BAMA last year?
all summer (yes they worked all F'n summer you bet) + bye before Aggies .......got embarrassed again (628 yds / 31 FD / 8.8/play

vs Auburn?.....had 2 weeks to prep....(maybe 30 min spent on Tenn-Chat) ......had trouble getting lined up wtf..........
  decent job but still 5.8/play......5.7/rush

vs OU?.....again 5.8/play....no run but 350 passing.....decent but gave up too much

Key is still strength in the trenches........
  *Navy's OL can't block OSU's DL.....no matter the wait

Up-tempo O's like the Ducks.....DO have a huge advantage if the D has only a week .....because 2-3 days vs 2 scout teams trying to simulate that just ain't enough
  *this time we will see.....this is their best OL and best QB......so (should) match up well vs Michigan St...........I kinda like the Ducks here.........I think..........
