Question - Which D1Teams do you Avoid ATS Side???

Question

Season over season (NOT JUST 2014), which D1 College Football Teams do you avoid backing because either they have burned you in the past, you don't trust the coach, they are overvalued or whatever reason, you absolutely will not touch a side for that team, or you try to avoid that team at all cost, even if the spread seems reasonable...

There are several teams that either I won't play or I have severe reservations..

WILL NOT PLAY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

Georgia Tech - I will post why in a follow up below...

ArkSt,Troy,UAB,SoMiss,Vanderbilt,Nwestern,VaTech,Man GaTech always gives me the Vaseline.I lost every time I played on or against GaTech on Thurs night plus I lost 8 straight Ga-Tech games is 90 s.lol

ArkSt,Troy,UAB,SoMiss,Vanderbilt,Nwestern,VaTech,Man GaTech always gives me the Vaseline.I lost every time I played on or against GaTech on Thurs night plus I lost 8 straight Ga-GaTech games is 90 s.Tech has always gave me a hard time.Chan Bailey and Paul Johnson teams along with O&#x27; Leary teams just killed me.I took a winner with Troy versus Okla St then I bet  I won 10% of the time I played them in 2000 s.I always think I have this advantage with Troy and UAB because they are close.Man, they have put it to me.I almost sobbed after a Ga-GaTech 1999 they hurt me so bad.I did in on Ole Miss over GaTech in Music City Bowl.Always have a good bowl season.

agreed warcameagle - you can&#x27;t play for against Ga Tech.  They will fk you either way.  impossible to predict.  I feel your pain.   Maybe you also got fkd in 2011 at that Ga Tech NC State game.   I will post about that later...

If you have gambled for long enough there will always be a team that will make you the most money and a team that will have f*cked you the most.

It could be a conference, a team or even a player. Bet on him and he'll throw four red zone interceptions. Bet against him vs one of the nation's top defenses and he'll turn into Jesus Christ on Adderal.

It's not a coincidence it's a simple game of numbers.

No I try and take responsibility as a gambler for my picks. If I play a game where the team I bet shits the bed I am more mad at myself than that team and I usually want to get good value so if a team I have a high opinion of loses Im likely to bet them again in an upcoming game when the spreads of their games are more in my favor and better values.

What I do have are teams that I can't win betting against. I think they suck and for whatever reason they always cover. Often times they cover despite looking like garbage. These are the ones who mindfuck me.

But again I blame myself more than the stiffs when I bet on a pile of garbage.

As underdogs I disagree and think they are pretty easy to bet or fade when they are getting points.The ACC is filled with teams that play down to their competition.  As a Syracuse fan its wonderful the NC State team we see is a friggin pathetic shell of themselves when they play FSU on Thursday night.  Its like they don&#x27;t want to be there.  You got to know these ACC nuances when you bet GT they are a typical ACC jeckyl and hyde team like North Carolina but like the Heels they can be predicted.  Just are funky when laying chalk.The ACC sucks balls against the SEC but dominates the Big Ten.  Never bet Big Ten against the ACC.

warcameagle - you reference S. Miss on your list above.   I am thinking about backing Miss St. in week 1.   Was that when you have backed S Miss, that they have not come through for you?    Thanks in advance!

Southern Miss used to be knocking on the door to having a good program in the past, but look what happens when u have High Freeze &amp; Dan Mullin in the same state=1-23 Straight up and 6-18 ATS LY.Larry Fedora had USM 12-2 CUSA Champs in top 25 in 2011 then he left for North Carolina and now def Coordat @Auburn Ellis Johnson took over and they went 0-12  in 2012 showed him the door bringing in Todd Monken who goes 1-11 his first year.I took them the last 2 years vs Nebraska.Its just a team that I haven&#x27;t had much winning with lately.I don&#x27;t think I&#x27;ve ever seen a team go 12-2:to 0-12 the next year..I looked up Ellis head coach track record...letavhtc

Your list is pretty good:Ga Tech, Georgia, LSU, Ohio St and Notre Dame are all teams that I avoid in almost all situations... a couple might get my money once in a blue moon, but for the most part, they are untouchable!

I used to like certain teams and dislike others, but now all the teams are the same to me (being a Cal alumni will do this to you), and I will bet on or against any team if I get the right number.

But I do have one fade - unfortunately no one will hire him for a FBS job, but John L Smith is someone I will bet against if he gets hired again.

granted, in my evaluation of current selections, other than Ga Tech, I consider all teams....I think that is a must to facilitate objectivity and opportunity. Just because a team has disappointed in the past, does not mean they will in the future. Its just the teams that I have listed above, at least when I have backed them or bet against them, are inconsistent with expectations. In essence its 50 50 when you involve them in a game. That's just acceptable to me. I think a big part is the coaches, motivation and other factors. Granted there are situations where you do not back teams that I don't have on this list...ie Alabama as a top 5 team as a 40+ point favorite against a traditional non-AQ conference team. Backing Bama would be a poor bet in that situation. Or a Lane Kiffin coached team...etc...

For me, the Arkansas Razorbacks. Not just because I'm an alum, but the hogs have always done fair-to-poorly ATS but not bad enough to simply fade (Grrr...) They always seem to play a team tough or even beat a team they have no business competing with (LSU, Ohio St., Texas, etc...) Difficult team for me to figure out for decades .... that said, if Nick Marshall isn't benched, hard to see how Auburn doesn't blow them out at home week 1 .....

GT without a doubt.....Also, SMU.  Couldn&#x27;t get the right side of them all year, so there OUT for me now.  East Carolina.....only betting on the O/U with them now.

Smith...he&#x27;s one of the biggest fruitcakes to ever coach in the history of college football...its too bad, for obvious reasons, we will never be see him as a HC in D1 again...If he ever does, then that will be an auto-fade for sure...&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Miles, Richt, and Kiffin also come to mind along with The Pirate Mike Leach.     Paul Johnson is a good coach and not a fruitcake, but as we have discussed above, Ga Tech is "untouchable" in my book (back or fade), and should be by everyone who reads this string...
