The Ole Miss offense only put 3 points on Vandy Saturday. they had a kick-off return and intercetion return for the other two TDs.
Except for the Va Tech play, I like the other games. I've sen nothing out of VT to make me think they can score 10 or more points against a decent defense.

Shepherd, when the lines first came out and I saw Bama getting 7, I jumped on it immediately. I then was looking for to put Bama in a parlay, and the +24, +24 jumped out at me for Mississippi & Mississippi State, so I put in a 3-teamer with Bama +7, and the Mississippi schools +24. Of those three, I think the Bulldogs playing at LSU I think is the shakiest pick simply because of their inability to score. LSU, however, is still a little green at the QB position, and Croom always does a great job of getting after the QB.
I made the Mississippi picks strictly on historical probabilty. DD dogs in SEC conference play wins at a rate of about 75% of the time. Last year Florida was -24 against a dreadful Ole Miss team, and narrowly escaped with a 30-24 victory. Ole Miss is a much improved team this year, and have a much better coach. I would take those points all day!!!
On the other hand, LSU is giving 19 to Mississippi State and destroyed them 45-0. It's hard to see how the Bulldogs will put any points on the board this year either. Thus, even though laying the points in a game like this has historically inauspicious results, I don't think LSU would be a bad play at all.
BOL Shepherd!!!

I think you've hit the nail on the head. The outcome of this game will largely be decided by what happens in the trenches, and I think Bama has a big advantage at d-line versus Georgia's o-line, and a slight advantage with their o-line versus Georgia's d-line. But as you correctly pointed out, Georgia's linebackers are outstanding. Be that as it may, I still believe Bama will have success with their power running game. They ran the ball very well against Georgia last year, and I think they will do it again this year.
Georgia is not Clemson however. The Bulldogs have one of the most talented rosters in the country. Georgia's last 5 recruiting classes are ranked 9, 7, 9, 4 & 10 respectively, and they are well coached. So this won't be a Clemson style blow-out for Bama. This will be a very, very close game, but I feel strongly, for the resons stated above, that Bama will win the game straight up.

nice... just hopped on here and see both DY and Nos like both of my favorite dogs this week: Bama and Va Tech...
i was a little worried about my VT pick at first... seems like everyone likes Nebraska... but if "everyone" likes NU, except for me, nos and DY... i like our chances...

Im not sure where all these people are at that like Neb--havent seen that many ppl on them--unless I am looking in the wrong places. Dont underestimate the power of Red in Memorial Stadium...one of the biggest home field advantages in college fb. VT was getting handled last wk at NC until their backup qb let VT back in that game and eventually they pulled it out. Just not sure where all of this VT offense is going to come from.
