Ole Miss @ Bama
I think most of you know that I'm a huge Bama fan, and a season ticket holder. Those who have read my posts know that I practically begged people to bet Bama when they played Clemson & Georgia. This week, however, I will side with Ole Miss. Unfortunately, getting the Rebels +14 is a thing of the past. But I'll play Ole Miss as long as the line is +10.5 or better.
I think Bama will get past Ole Miss, but I don't think it'll be easy. Houston Nutt always plays Bama tough, and this is a huge revenge game for the Rebels. This is something I've not heard anyone mention this week.
You may recall that the replay official overturned a 41-yard completion that would have put Ole Miss in chip-shot field goal range with only a few seconds remaining in the game. The score was 27 to 24 Bama, and a field goal would have obviously sent the game into overtime. There also was enough time for the Rebels to take 2 or 3 shots at the end zone for a chance to win the game in regulation. I had Ole Miss +7 in that game BTW.
The replay official, however, ruled that Ole Miss receiver Shay Hodge had stepped out of bounds and then was the first person to touch the ball, which of course is a penalty. Even though that is what actually happened (later photographs proved it), that was not evident from the replays the replay official had available to him. Therefore, by rule, the play should have stood. Ole Piss (and fans) were "PISSED!!!" In fact Bama's then OC Major Applewhite was assaulted by Rebel fans after the game.
Ole Miss will not come to T-town this week and lay down. I don't think they'll get the victory, but I do think they'll cover. Expect Bama to be in a dogfight this week, and take the points provided you can get more than 10.
FREAK OUT!!!
