This is a nice conversation and worthy of lucid well thought out positions... not a name calling thread....  I think my SEC position is defensible, but I would never revert to name calling to defend the undefendable...... there are many out there with SEC fatigue, I understand that.....  but seriously, would you want YOUR team to schedule an SEC team in NOV... no freaking way...  we are fans, but coaches are not standing in line to fall on their swords...

I stand by my statement: NOBODY wants to play an SEC out of conference game in NOV...... so dont let your hate of the SEC blur the facts.....

Id give my left nut to see an 8 or 16 team playoff.  If all or the majority of teams r SEC teams then so be it, although as u point out i dont think the politically correct ncaa would allow it.  As long as they allow multiple entries from conference it would still be far superior to existing system

It's so funny because the BCS is set up for the SEC. It's not even debatable. Where were all of the National Championships from the SEC before the BCS was created? I counted 2 in the past 30 years. Alabama and Florida. They couldn't even get a team in the game, let alone win it.

With this billion dollar TV deal, the analysts are told to hype up the SEC. They have to. As soon as it looked like Alabama was about to be taken down last week, Verne Lundquist gets on his knees, wondering how they can get Georgia into the title game now.

The SEC plays nobody out of conference, and I mean no one. Of course the defenses are gonna be great, when the quarterbacks in the mighty SEC have been pathetic over the years. The two best they have seen are Cam Newton and Matthew Stafford. Give me a break. The bottom half of that league have been so bad it's not even funny.

I'd like to hear some reasoning as to why the ESPN, other networks, NCAA or anybody else has motivation to promote & try to uphold the dominance of the SEC like some conspiracy theorists in this thread have stated? Is it because they have those major markets like Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge & Knoxville or is it because of the tradition & national following that schools like Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ohio St., USC & Florida St. don't have? Seriously, I'm not an SEC guy, but it's ridiculous to say they're overrated or the other teams besides LSU & Bama suck. They've won 6 straight NC & all leagues have shit teams at the bottom. The only conference this year that could even stake a claim to possibly being better is the Pac 12. Big 10 is in a shambles this year, ACC is definitely top heavy with FSU & Clemson, B12 has only 2 teams that play any defense at all & don't even mention the Big East, Mt. West or Conf USA. Until another conference at least wins back to back titles or beats the SEC's best head to head there's really no legitimate discussion. If I was an SEC basher I'd be pissed that Bama lost last week. This finally could have been the year a team (Oregon) beat them in the title game.

You guys do realize that A&Ms offense is better than Oregons right? A&M has a GIGANTIC OL with good RB's and the much better QB. Oregons offense is a run based option with small OL, RB's and that has been shut down in 3 BCS bowls already. Every year people fall for this same shit because of what they see teams do against horrible defense.

Bama lost AT HOME last week to a team that was ranked 15th.  Now, they play a high school team and don't stand a chance at getting any respect back.  Western Carolina isn't just non-conference, it's a 1 game winner in a lower conference.

This is why the nation laughs at the cowards in the SEC.

If there is a team they should laugh at, it is Georgia. They have the worst schedule in the SEC.

Every conference has a maximum of two alpha male teams that fight each other for supremacy. All the others are equal to and therefore very beatable by any team of equal stature and similar record on an ygiven weekend.

The fact is that the bottom feeders in the SEC try to puff themselves up by the successes of the two top programs and their mega-coaches in Bama and LSU. But what conference should NOT try do the same? The fact other conferences don't puff themselves is just poor confidence and a lack of salesmanship.  Who can blame them? No, they are not top to bottom dominant. Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Tenn, Miss, are just doormats like any other program out there. ESPN however is the variable that contributes to the fluffing every 5 minutes of broadcast. WHY? Because they have inked deals with the SEC. They have televised SEC vs "any shit fodder Big 12 or Big 10 school" so the SEC can still look dominant every Dec-Jan.

It's called POLITICS. It's part of life.

SEC has two great programs (QBs are mediocre and the Bama offense is conservative, while the LSU play calling is WHACKY).

Oregon > Bama or LSU--and I am not trying to inject anything about the PAC 12. Fuck the PAC 12. I'm just saying Oregon football is better.

Leave the conference comparisons to ESPN talking heads who are PAID to say SEC fluffing non-sequitors.

Or do you think Auburn can beat Oregon today?

Does Boise St clobbering "almighty Georgia" leave an aftertaste?

How about the Utah Utes going undefeated against His Royal Highness Saban and "Roll Tide Roll"?

    No consistency.
