Southern Miss might be able to cover the big number; however winning the game outright will prove more difficult due to this little tidbit.
IF Houston wins, Conference USA will gain a lot more money and exposure with a BCS Bowl berth. This additional funding greatly helps with bringing higher level recruits.
IF Southern Miss wins, that all goes out the window, even though Southern Miss might be able to recruit better players, the rest of the conference will not benefit from this result.
I am not saying a fix will be in per se; however, he Cougars will most likely receive the benefit of some close calls that can affect the outcome of the SU winner.
Maybe put Houston in a 7 or 10 pt teaser to play it safe

If Southern Miss wins, the conference will lose out on approx 26 million dollars.

I hope SO MISS rushes 3, 1 spy on Keenum and then drops 7 into coverage! IMO that's the only way I can see them getting beat. We had a similar highschool here, who passed a lot like UH and we did that to them. We still lost lol, but we slowed them down quite a bit! ( I know I'm a measly assistant High School football/wrestling coach) but it kinda worker for us...... You never know!?!?!?!? BOL everyone
Coogs aint afraid to run and the RB is good enough to carve up a team dropping 7. I guess what makes this line so puzzling is how did S. Miss get beat by UAB and Marshall? Yes they were both away games. Well guess what? This game is away for S. Miss as well.

I've never liked looking at how a game might go, because of teams past wins or losses. Yes, SO MISS lost to UAB and Marshall. Houston Barely squeaked by UCLA. UCLA lost 50-0 to a team that almost lost to Minnesota..... Like I mentioned before, EVERY game is different. Teams rise to the occasion sometimes, and fold other times. I feel Like we have to focus in the Matchup between The Coogs and SO MISS!!! BOL to all :) !!!

I was fortunate enough to meet a man named Chip Reese. World series of Poker bracelet winner, AND sportsbetting legend here in Vegas. He passed away a couple years back, but I got to know him as I was friends Witt his son, who also passed away. RIP to both. Anyways Ill never something he told me about capping games. One day I had 8-9 picks that I liked for the upcoming weekend And I wanted to show them to Chip and see what he thought, I saw him at a sporting event that night and pulled out my napkin with my picks!! He said, " to many favorites" I believe I had all fav's, they all made since to me because they played well last week, and had impressive records. I thought they would easily cover these spreads! Then he dropped some knowledge on me, that I have held onto, he said, " if we bet off of what teams records are, or past performance, then we would NEVER take the underdog" I said " yeah, I understand that" he said, " in poker, or in capping YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE ODDS, 49 % of the time the dog covers NFL included. So your card every week should be somewhat balanced with fav

Orites and dogs. Also never Parlay bets, thats the biggest sucker bet out there. You hit 7 out of 8 games and lose? Not gonna happen" .... Words from the deceased Chip Reese!
That story wasn't meant to swade people away from Houston or towards SO Miss. Just wanted to share that with y'all, and maybe it can help you guys like it's helped me! It's not like I'm making a ton of money and doing it for a living like Chip was, but it makes it more fun when I'm winning more often!!! BOL everyone

Chip was making money playing poker, not betting on sports. That I am pretty sure of. He was truly a legend.
The one thing I believe gets most amateur bettors like myself is playing "connect the dots". Its kind of like what Chip and GoGoplata123 were saying earlier. Just because team X beats Team Y and Team Y beat Team Z doesn't mean Team X will beat Team Z.
Im coming to Vegas tomorrow. Going to run Vegas marathon on Sunday and then chill for a few days on the strip. I plan on making some sick sports bets to pass the time.

Regaurdless, he was right! :) have fun this weekend be safe, if your making any large bets. Put them in at casino's OFF the strip, you won't lose as much off the juice!! Hope you like our Cold weather!!!

Also look for Baylor to pound the Texas Longhorns tomorrow in Waco. A good showing by RGIII and the heismann is his. Texas blew their wad against ATM last week. As long as I have been watching Baylor vs Texas games the Horns never get up for Baylor. Win or lose they just don't get up for the game. I think Baylor pulls away late and wins by 14+

Here's something you might want to consider when capping this game. USM might get down big to Houston but they won't quit playing. They don't have much talent defensively but the offense can move the ball with Austin Davis at QB, who has broken most of Favre's records. The coach ain't no dummy either; they're familiar with Houston and Keenum.
I'm probably biased being a USM alum, but no team has covered more spreads in the last twenty years than the Golden Eagles. Don't know if I'm gonna bet this game but it will be fun to watch. Maybe wait till the public bets it up to 14 and go with Southern Miss. The way Houston has played the last month or so, the public is gonna be all over the Cougers after the way they pummeled Tulsa.
Just my thoughts...good luck if you bet it!

The referees used in the C-USA championship game are NOT from C-USA but other conferences.

here is a quote from this article...basically..if So Miss wins.. they get nothing ($) wise, if the lose and Houston gets a bowl paycheck....So Miss will get a little over a Million.... this article does not paint the whole picture...but it is interesting .... here is the link to this article: (quote directly after in blue) https://www.bettorsworld.com/2011/southern-miss-houston-football-pick.htmFor you conspiracy theory buffs out there, consider this. If Houston wins the game and earns a BCS bowl game, the conference gets 17 million dollars. 17 million dollars that the lowly Conference-USA could surely use. Think a few calls may go against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles Saturday? Hmmmm.
