this was basically a blueprint for winning bets before the rules started favoring the offense, look at the old Ravens team that won a SB & those gangster Bama defenses that won natties

you still occasionally see great defense beat great offense such as Cowboys beating Saints the other night

there is a reason why Saban changed his coaching strategy & adapted to explosive offense instead running smash mouth football, he can kind of do both now though I suppose which is what makes Bama a tough opponent
