TopDaddy, yeah Big plays decide games, OSU should have whipped illinois and they didn't. That doesn't mean they wouldn't beat illinois 9 out of 10 times, and it doesn't mean they can't beat a good team in a bowl game. Squares just don't understand that there are upsets which is what makes them squares.

Anothere problem. Why should OSU* have whipped Illinois? Illinois had the control the ENTIRE game and in crunch time, they held on to the ball for 8 minutes to run out the clock. Maybe, maybe the second time I have ever seen a team so dominant that they needed and were able to do that. OSU* didn't beat themselves, they lost to the better team. ILLI god damn NOIS. This is a clear sign your team is AVERAGE. Top Daddy had it right, the other contenders lost games that anybody could. OSU* lost to WVU's little brother. A team that is not even thought of as a team capable of beating a #1. Until fraud OSU* comes along.

canes, OSU threw 3 picks and Illinois had zero turnovers. that right there is the game. ill also scored a TD where the clearly lost a fumble and the play wasn't reviewed. OSU was driving to tie the game and threw a pick in the end zone. It is a game they could have won, and if they aren;t looking ahead to Michigan game then they blow out Illinois. Oh, and what Bowl are the Canes going to this year?

Canes, all of the top teams have lost games to teams that they shouldn't have. There are upsets every week, you don't understand this, which is why you will always be a losing gambler. Sometimes the dog does rise up and win.

why don't you guys play Youngstown St. in a bowl or The mighty ZIPS. they are good enough for you in the regular season, they say they play them to keep money in Ohio...So Play them again and you guys could spead more money around the state of Ohio...

We only scored 14 against a Michigan team that gave up at least 3 TDs to 5 different teams.

My Buckeyes looked horrible for most of that second half and with the conservative and suspect playcalling in the 4th qtr against Michigan. That won't cut it against more aggressive teams .

Like Menace said, were a good team, but I'd be afraid to play about a half dozen teams in whatever bowl.

Dennis, OSU scored 14 points vs Mich, but you saw the weather was really bad, Mich couldn't catch a pass, and OSU gave up on the pass and just ran out the clock. That win was as dominating as could be, and OSU could have scored another TD at the end. Guys come in here saying OSU will get killed in the bowl, and they have no facts or reasoning to back it up. I give facts like OSU has the best D #'s in the country, then you guys say these facts make me a retard.

Not being a Buckeye fan I don't know much about the history and fan culture surrounding your program which leads me to this question.
 
Why do many of the OSU fans always call the school THE Ohio State Univ.?  I am not bashing or whatever, rather I am actually curious how it got started and why you do it.

Why are we called ""THE" Ohio State University"?


In 1986, a new University logo was introduced in the hopes of moving away from the "OSU" symbol, which had been used since 1977.  The change from simply "OSU" was said to "reflect the national stature of the institution."  University officials wanted the institution to be known as "The Ohio State University," again, since OSU could also mean Oregon State and Oklahoma State University.

However, the "The" was actually part of the state legislation when the university was renamed in 1878. The following excerpt is from the Board of Trustee minutes:

"...the educational institution heretofore known as the 'Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College,' shall be known and designated hereafter as 'The Ohio State University.'"

Those who wanted the name change thought the original name was too narrow in scope, and that it was inadequate for the institution that was the only beneficiary of the land grant act. President Edward Orton was insistent that a new name would separate the institution from other colleges in Ohio.

Legend also has it that "The" was used to show the other colleges which institution was supposed to be the leader in the state - both in size and in financial support from the legislature.

That's basically where it came from...

I still find it interesting that people say WVU will run all over OSU. They just say WVU has "speed". Like no other teams have any speed. WVU has beaten up on a lot of bad defenses this year. They only scored 13 points vs S flor, and people say it's because QB White was hurt, well he played most of the first half and they put up only 3 points. The backup scored more points in the second half. WVU scored 28 points in Cincy. These are the toughest games WVU had this year, and were hardly impressive. Remember this before your clock gets cleaned by the Buckeyes again: Almost every player on this defense will be a top pick in the NFL at some point. The NFL must see something in these guys.

Dude, from one Buckeye to another, you need to at least look into some other teams and give them the respect they deserve as being most likely better teams.

West Virginia scoring 28 points at Cinci wasn't a shit thing. Cinci is for real.

West Virginia is NO ONE that us Buckeyes want to play, although it could happen. I'll hope for the best.

Did you actually go to school at the same college OSU that I did, or are you otherwise from my home state?

 I am not disrespecting WVU. I think they are in a weak conf, with only 4 winning teams, half of the conf there.
 
       there are a lot of assholes disrespecting OSU for various reasons, and you know it i wrong. I haven't said that OSU will blow out whoever in the bowl. I have said they have a helluva chance to win no matter who it is. You know they will be prepared and motivated after last year, right?
 
    It is funny to see guys saying WVU will "kill" OSU, on a neutral field, with no facts to back it up. Guys don't realize that OSU has the best defense in the nation, by far, giving up about 10 PPG, and only 13 in conf games, when most Big 11 teams are scoring about 30 + PPG. Big 11 was very high scoring this year. And WVU struggled in their only 2 road games vs winning teams.
 
       If OSU plays WVU, trust me, don't worry, OSU will be favored in the game and the talent will show up.

it is a good thing they will play WVU for the national Championship, they actually have a chance to beat them. 
 
It is a good thing becasue, if they were to play USC in the Rose Bowl it would be a killing like last year against FLA!
