Is this real? Sluka done bc he is not getting his NIL deal
Going somewhere else to get more money and quitting after three games into of the season. What a POS…
UNLV ranked top 25 and 3-0. Chance to win conference championship and play on a good team.

He signed a CONTRACT.....
Evidently UNLV boosters were not paying him as promised. Would you still show up for work if your company wasn't paying you? Especially if your job was dangerous, and an injury could end your career. NO

I can't blame the kid considering the way the game has changed. This isn't college football of the past. It's probably the most opportune time where he can make the most money in his life, and if he believes that leaving the team is best for him financially, then you can't really blame him.

And he’s only asking for 100k they’re 3-0 vs the spread all someone would have to do is bet it on one game and pay him! Surely someone has thought of that! Then we could say the Vegas casinos paid his NIL!

NO, HE DID NOT SIGN A CONTRACT.
He was though promised at least $100,000 and only received $3000 relocation money. A player cannot sign a contract unitl enrolled and pretty sure one was never signec.
And story is some other University offered more.
Can't say I blame him. He had an agent negotiate at least $100,000 and UNLV agreed. Am sure the agent is due money too. And even though he can redshirt he still loses this year.
Shame on UNLV.

Agents and money destroyed the NFL.
The same will destroy college too.
Trevor Lawrence given a $275 million contract.
He was a bust the moment he stepped on the field.
What does this say about the talent pool if someone of his low caliber can not only make it to the NFL but get paid $275 MILLION.

College football is just looking for a place to die (in a few years). Enjoy it all now (processional and college). It’ll be flag football in 15 years with an internationalist movement infused into the sport.

it’s the enormous price people are paying from parking, concessions, ticket prices and what people are paying for tv apps etc that’s supporting all this nonsense! Gambling is driving it.

One thing I always loved about college football was the team loyalty. That's all changed with NIL and the transfer portal. Now it's just like the NFL. You can call me a homer but I LOVE Spencer Danielson's approach here in Boise. No NIL money was promised to kids coming in. They were told they'd have to EARN it! What a concept! Danielson genuinely loves his kids. Just watch him on the sidelines. And his kids, in turn, would run through a brick wall for this guy. Ashton Jeanty could play for any team in the country and make a ton more than he's getting here, and yet he chose to stay in Boise. What's that tell ya?

Apparently,
All financial commitments for UNLV QB Matthew Sluka were completely met. But after wins against KU and Houston, Sluka’s family hired an agent and they collectively feel that his market value has increased, per source.

<< that is an eye roll technically, given what is going on with NIL although, I agree in them getting them paid. Commitment and rewarding effort + results (3 prong reward system) was how I was raised all the way up to a pro level and by then, if you weren't working for you, you weren't winning that much and therefore would be 'discovered as inferior to the sport or the team' eventually. And when I say working, extra time on you, diet, training, weightroom, agility etc
Now I understand why I could not find Siukla when I searched QB stats on Sunday

His completion percentage was brutal.
Hajj-Malik Williams the transfer from Campbell has played a lot of ball. 6th season in college. Last year completed 70 percent of his passes. He can move. Don't expect much of a drop off at the QB position from UNLV going forward.
Great coaching will get them in the right situations.

@Volplaya8
Show me any G5 team that does! Power conference greed, NIL and the transfer portal has stacked the deck against the little guys. It's a whole new era where the rich (SEC and Big Ten) get richer and the poor get poorer.

@Boisestateand8
Well there will be a non power 4 team in the playoffs every year…all you have to do is be that team…Boise used to be one of those teams…they aren’t anymore
