I'll stick with the MAC , the POWER 5 or whatever BS they're merging to is dead to me ..

Here's what will happen...
SEC and BIG10 are headed to 24 team conferences. SEC will target Clemson, Miami, FSU, VT, possibly the NC schools, OKState, or Georgia Tech. BIG10 will look to add the rest of the West Coast in Wash, Oregon, Stanford, Utah and they'll look at basketball with Kansas, UNC, and Duke. All of that effort will lead to their big pitch to Notre Dame. There will basically be a "Power 2" and the remnants of the ACC, PAC12, and BIG12 will be just middle tier schools.
Once they approach 48 teams, they will create their own 8-12 team football playoff, independent of the NCAA, with the large majority coming from the SEC/BIG and maybe a couple at large bids to the outsiders. That will be part of the BIG's selling point to Notre Dame as well because the Irish aren't going to be left out of the "premier" CFP and they don't want to risk being left out while vying for 1 of the "at-large" CFP bids.
Yes, we will get some really premium matchups every year with this set up. The super conferences will generate so much money that the gap will grow even further between those in the league and those outside of it. They'll need to keep 1-2 "pay for play" games each year for the power houses to keep some of the smaller programs from shutting down. What we know now as the Group of 5 conferences plus what's left of the ACC/PAC/BIG12 would be better served to create their own playoff or 99.9% of those schools won't ever have an opportunity to win a national title regardless of success.

Buffalo is in big trouble..The spring game was embarrassing to watch ....
The offense should have major trouble staying on the field , defense is decent but won't get much of a break....

More good stuff from Neuheisel/Childers today... Fox Sports/TV owns 60% of the Big Ten Network. With the current deals in place, each Big10 team is worth about $100 million in media rights. Unless they value Oregon/Washington etc at $101 million, they won't take them. There is a very high up person at Fox that is a huge USC guy and his fingerprints are all over this. Hence having Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart on Fox studio shows and the likely push for Urban Meyer to USC rumors last year.

Really curious now to see what happens to Oregon. The most viewed Pac-12 game about every week was whatever game Oregon was playing in. Not one USC game (against another Pac-12 team) rated better than any Oregon game. I'm not sure LA really cares much about college football as they did 20 years ago. Of course USC football has sucked for the past 15+ years. Maybe Riley can get the fans back on the bandwagon. But the market size isn't as relevant as it used to be. These days it's more about how many eyeballs can they actually bring. It's all about the brand name.

SI says;
UCLA was looking at the possibility of cutting almost half its sports programs, according to a new report from the Los Angeles Times.
UCLA was running out of money hand over fist — until the Big Ten came along.
"Given its perilous athletic department finances, UCLA faced the prospect of cutting sports had the school not greed to bolt for the Big Ten," the report said.
It continued, "The timing isn't certain and the number of teams that would have been affected isn't known, but the Bruins were headed toward an Olympic sports Armageddon without the infusion of cash that will accompany its departure from the Pac-12 Conference in 2024."

@UNIMAN
I've heard that UCLA plays a few sports that don't exist in the Big 10. I wonder how they are going to work that out. Keep their secondary sports in the Pac-12? Or discontinue them..

@HockeyNight11
Agree 100%. I used to get pissed at players not playing their bowls, then you realize the effin coaches don’t hang around long enough to coach their bowls. EVERYONE just looking out for themselves and maximizing THEIR bottom line. The schools started the whoring, then the coaches followed with their whoring..how can anyone blame the players for their me-first attitudes
