Texas is playing every remaining game for Strong's job.  They love the man.   And we have one of the best RB's in the country named D. Freeman.   Strong's impact on the D is evident.   WV is a good team.   I think Texas has a chance to win this game, and even as a homer, its one of my picks this week.   This could be anything from a DD win for Texas to a DD win for WV.     IF you don't have a good feel, then you should no play...

Scal  - your Memphis advocacy was spot on.    and you could be right here...if Strong's job were not on the line, I would agree with you.  But, the fact remains you were going against a team at home, with superior talent, a decent O, and an improving D.   Yes, I know there will be a lot of money Texas because its a public team.    Strong has to go 3-0 to save his job, and his players love him and have not quit.  You are betting against that vibe.  We'll see how that works out for you...GL on your other picks...

Woah, woah, woah, Texas DOES NOT have superior talent. They have it at RB and that's it. And their RB is better than 125 teams in the nation so it's not saying much.

I know I am betting against "Save Charlie" vibe.

But that vibe can only take you so far. You know damn well that won't take you to an 8-3 season.

So when is that loss coming? Now or later? I say now.

WVU has manhandled the Big 12 against Tech and TCU. They dominated those game. Slow it down with K-State? They won that too.

They have proven themselves too many times vs. the Big 12 to think Texas is a threat here.

Did you see last week? Let's talk about mistakes on the Longhorns side of the ball.

Did you see that incredible run by Foreman in the first half that should have put Texas up? He was moving SIX guys.

How did it end? a 99 yard strip that resulted in a 14 point swing.

THIS IS WHAT TEXAS DOES!

They find creative ways to lose!

They dropped touchdowns against K-State.

They didn't immediately pick up idiotic fumbles against Cal.

They let OK State carve up their secondary.

And the loss against Cal was to avenge last year's dumb mistake of a missed extra point! And they made MORE dumb mistakes.

They fumbled late vs. Tech up two scores to get them back in the game. Turned into a TD for Tech. They had a short kick off the upright that bounced through.

This team FINDS WAYS TO LOSE more than any team I can remember in recent memory.

Allergic to leads too.

I'll bet against that getting points with this WV team.

one final clarification: the people did not reward the GOP for 8 years of doing nothing but stonewall our government...they rewarded Donald Trump because thats what we DO  here in USA award MORE to people who have TOO MUCH  ...ie  sports    music  hollywood  business etc etc etc

I follow Big 12 very closely. Personally I like:
1H West Virginia + .5
1H Under 31.5
Texas has typically been slow out of the gates and factor in WVU's physical attacking defense vs a freshman QB who WILL make mistakes. Both teams will run the ball a ton and should limit the deep plays. I think 2nd half is where you see both of these teams scoring more points.
I may put small wager on WVU full game but for some odd reason the full game scares me.

I started looking into this game. Leaning Texas myself. 

Are you concerned about the fact this is only West Virginia's third road game? The first they beat up a bad Texas Tech team. The second (two weeks ago) they got seriously outplayed in the second half by an average at best Oklahoma State team. 

Texas has been a lot better at home than on the road. Actually, all of Texas clunkers have come outside of Austin.

Charlie Strong is not a good coach. He had the most talent in the conference with Louisville a top QB in the nation and still managed to lose games. He's suppose to be a defensive minded coach yet his defenses have been horrific. Great he held craptastic Iowa State to 6 points and a bad KState team to 21.

Lets look at teams with a half decent pulse on offense. 50, 50, 49, 45, 35, 37. What is one thing we see here? Give me a break with the Charlie is now calling plays on defense. It has been his defense his entire tenure! People act like he isn't fully invested in the breakdown of his defense in practice, like he's not aware of what his DC is doing, and how he doesn't have final authority over everything on his defense. Same situation with Miami and Al Golden, People blamed the DC but it was Al Golden's defense.

WVU has a good defense. The best they will face so far. Texas QB has played decent enough however eventually he's going to hit a wall like they all do unless you're an extreme gifted player like Winston/Manziel. 

Texas special teams is horrific and that is just another indication of how poor the HC is. Football is 3 parts. Texas is horrific in two parts of the game. 

I understand there are trap games at times but I never feel you should be thinking oh the line is 2 and WVU is ranked so now Texas should cover. Worst kind of way to bet and sure way to lose more than win.

And for the person who asked if WVU would be up for this game. It is Texas. There are few programs in the NCAA that other teams WANT to beat. Texas is one of them along with Notre Dame. Holgerson is a SAVAGE. You don't think they were looking at TExas while they were walking through Kansas. Anytime you play another big time school and you've been historically below them you will want to murder them

They beat the same Texas team (dominated them in fact) that has created this line. Texas fans are fawning over the fact they held Tech UNDER FIVE HUNDRED yards. I've read the article and local talking heads. They are so proud of this win. It is not much to boast about at all and that is in part a reason why this line is set this way (a ballsy +2 for WVU).

Listen, if people here are worried about lack of road play for WVU then they should be RUNNING to the window to play Iowa +21.5 at home. Michigan had the more favorable early home schedule I've ever seen.

MSU and Rutgers have been their only away games (Two AWFUL teams that play each other today). You don't see anyone running for Iowa tickets. WVU although only their third road game, has had a worse schedule to say the least.

Byu imo is the team u can compare Texas too with wvu....they ran the ball at will against wvu and turned it over 4 times.  I personally feel this is just a bad match up for wvu.  couple hours and we will see

Morning Scal,  agreed Texas finds ways to lose,  they also are a different animal at home and find ways to hang in there till the last second.  Another concern is your subconscious predilection toward Texas as a loser (your OU/Texas selection) as you have Purdue as a cover.  Like an old girlfriend that comes back around most times its better let go.  I think this may be a better live bet or halftime bet game. Either way best of luck.

The OK game was BACKDOORED. Let's not make that out to be a great Texas cover. Every Texas backer got extremely lucky they covered with under two minutes.
