Want to have a civil discussion here bout SEC vs. Everybody else...

In all honesty I have No bias towards any conference in college football nor do I follow any team seriously. I live in Las Vegas and cheer for yet Rebels lol.
*Again Trying to be civil here... interested in both sides of spectrum. Not trying to push one side or the other, just my opinion. Im open to new ideas or a different outlook.

Question: Do SEC teams subconsciously let down in these bowl games, because they play so many "Huge" "Emotional" "Primetime" games during the Year? Therefore making these bowl games an afterthought to a rugged season? Do you think Mississippi St put as much effort, time, or energy into their preparation and play into the match up with Georgia Tech as they did with Auburn, Bama, LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss??

Has Georgia Tech played a game of this most personal importance? ACC Title game maybe?

Nobody would refute the SEC has the overall best players... I mean, ask the NFL, year in year out SEC has highest # of players drafted. Therefore, Is the NFL biased?

We aren't in 2011 anymore, times have changed & the gap is officially closed

I think they have several huge games every week in conference play. its hard to prepare for the triple option if your not used to seeing it much. for years the sec has been dominate & I just wonder if they are trying to get it evened out, so people will continue to watch. im not saying all games are " fixed" but I do think some are, I have been betting on games for over 23 years & seen some strange stuff. when they set these lines they know which teams will draw the money. motivation is a big part of it, ole miss & miss st I feel like when they lost the games when they was undefeated may have took wind out of their sails. im shocked at how the sec has done in some of these games but hard to get up every week

Ole Piss should have been pumped to play TCU if you ask me and got slaughtered.  I can't think LSU was thrilled about the Music City Bowl all things considered.  Miss. State....not so sure.

Arky did pummel TX and Georgia blasted Louisville.  SC won as an outright dog.

ALl Ohio State has to do is win outright (not just cover) and the debate is over. But of course a few SEC teams will pick up late bowl wins, like Florida, to help out the record, so SEC control will go on. Miss St being ranked #7 was a joke all season long, as well as Ol Miss being in the top 5. The media led by ESPN is pulling a great one over the public for money.

Ohio St covers, but I think the biggest blin the gutters result would be a Wisconsin win over Auburn. Would be huge

After GT abused Miss St, it marked the fifth time this season an ACC team beat a nonconference opponent ranked in the top 10. The rest of the country has just two such wins. For the season so far, the ACC holds a 5-3 record against the mighty SEC.

If any team had an excuse for a letdown, that would be TCU, who dropped from 3 to 6 in the final committee rankings..... For no apparent reason. Did they whine and cry about it and act like they were going through the motions in their "meaningless" bowl?? Nope. Cut the excuse crap about the SEC teams getting their azzez spanked in bowls. They lost because they sucked and were overranked and overhyped. Nothing else.

Coaching explains bowl game results-both Miss teams coaches weren't as good as Patterson in motivating their teams..SEC teams let down like LSU all the time when it's not for big stakes-that's all they hear about year round and TCU had a mission to prove the committee wrong...

I would recommend focusing on specific matchups and not the conferences, but public betting $ probably have (incorrectly) favored SEC teams based on reputation (not matchups) in some cases.

The excuse that " SEC " don't care about bowl games is the biggest lie every told. This is where they like to pump their chests. I hear it time and time again how " they don't want to be there "........Please stop it with the BS.

Perfect example of EsecPN pulling their garbage was yesterday. Does Ole Miss " want " to be there? Stop it! If you believe that you're a moron who doesn't understand much about this game. Let me ask you this...... When was the last time Ole Piss and Miss st been meaningful games like they were yesterday? I'll give you a hint...Most of you weren't even born. The Mississippi are traditionally poor programs. They done a great job this year and deserve to be treated like good teams, but let's not stretch this thing anymore than it is. Both were " SEC OVERRATED " .... Old Piss like I have been telling you guys ALL YEAR is nothing like EsecPN would make them out to be.

Point is, As I have said over and over and over and over.... The SEC IMO is the best overall conference right now.... but not by the margin that you're being led to believe. The proof is in the pudding....

Alabama may well win this thing. I think they may, im not sure about it...but they may. But the point is, what Alabama does isn't a reflection on the other 13 teams in that conference.

Let's not forget that Old Piss beat Bama..... Think about that for a second.

Plus, last time I saw a trevor knight led Oklahoma team that played Bama.....they took them to the woodshed.


What G.T has done or what FSU has done or what Clemson has done in bowl games this year...... has nothing to do with the other.


 

Those games yesterday were meaningless when it comes to a National Champion.

I hope I can provide a little insight as I am a huge sec homer, but I also follow all college football from the Mac to the pac(12). The most important factor in all this sec fandom is simple. Teams like tcu, oregon, and even ohst, could without a doubt beat every  team in the sec in a one game matchup. Here's what all the hoopla is about from the fans. tcu is very good, but when playing for example, Alabama at Tuscaloosa, followed by Arkansas at home, followed by ole miss at Oxford,then play south Carolina at home etc etc etc. The problem is when you play great team after great team that is also fueled by 40,50,60 years of rivalrys and disappointments, and huge emotional wins and losses, it makes each game every week the biggest game of the year. Teams like (this year) fsu, and ohst while having their own rivalry games seem to get a little more time between huge games to prepare. For example if say Arkansas who is a really good team this year, played ohst schedule you could make a strong case that they would be undefeated. Not 100% for a fact but you could argue that they run the table. The 6th or 7th best team in the sec!! Conversely if ohst played Arkansas schedule you can say that they would probably have at least 2 losses if not more. So I don't think that "we" think all of "our" are better than all other teams, it's just that the regular season is so much more of a grind week in and week out. Hope my rambling helps. Just make my take on things. Trying to put in words what most get all bent outta shape about.
