This is the fall off year. Tigers lost a lot on defense and their offense simply isnt tough enough to line up week after week in the SEC.

Could possible open up the season at 4-0, but I think they lose week 3 at Indy and Toledo and Ark St wont be push overs. After that, I see maybe a win vs Kentucky or Vandy (outside shot vs A&M to end the season). So complete miracle best case would have them at 7-5, but I see a 4-8 or another 5-7 season coming, with 3-9 or 2-10 on the realm of possibility.

As a tiger alum, i am not looking forward to this year. Until the Florida game anyway. Huge fan of them since i was a lil kid. But aside from that, it's gonna be a long year.

They are not out yet at my book which is making me go crazy but i'm seeing 5.5 at other places online. I think phil steele has them on most improved list. Sounds like D is the big ?

Give me the low down on Clemson/Dawgs. You don't have to go into grave detail, but I was kinda leaning Georgia. Is there some mismatches you like? What am I missing? I REALLY like Georgia's run game. What is it about Clemson's D that you like so much? Murray and that offense are battle tested imo. It would appear to me (from an outsider) that Clemson seems to struggle in the Big Games, starting with the bowl game against WVU. They only played 3 REALLY good teams last year, getting beat by both FSU & USC (and it's not as if they DOMINATED LSU).

If you detailed this match up in another thread, let me know and I will check it out. If not, could you give me a brief synopsis. I may stay away from this game altogether, but again, I was thinking Georgia.

Also. I was leaning LSU. I think the hire of Cam Cameron is undervalued, and will help Mettenberger a ton. I've always liked Patterson, and have always loved TCU's defense. That said, it seems to me that when their offense goes up against a stout defense (like an MSU in the bowl game) they really struggle. They gained 84 yards of total offense in that bowl game in the 2H (granted, they didn't have Pachall). I'm surprised you're putting that much stock in a team with a QB fresh out of rehab. Imo, LSU is another battled tested team. I understand that they lost some talent to the NFL on defense, but I'm betting that the replacement players are just as good as MSU's defense was last year.

I guess I find it hard to put a lot of stock in an offense with QB who hasn't taken a snap in a year, with only 5 returning starters on offense. I don't know if that gets it done vs a team like LSU who will have a pretty good offense, with a fresh talented defense; and a team with a lot of swagger who has been there before (the big game atmosphere won't affect them at all).

Lastly, what are your thoughts on TTech v SMU? Small line that I think Kingsberry can cover just by the influx of his new style. Plus, they have 8 starters back on defense. Not sold on Gilbert at QB, who is shaky at best. I find it hard to see SMU knocking them off, and the value seems to be there with a small line.

RLP -

I respect Georgia unlike other people do when talking about there opposition. Georgia is a good football team, especially offensively. Only problem with them is defensively. Georgia coming into death Valley @ night on opening weekend with " gameday " onsite.... is not a idea place for young inexperienced defensive players to " cut their teeth "....

As a handicapper and a fan in general I think we have to learn some things every year. I learned here in recent years that this type of a game...." Big game "...comes down to a few things.....

1) Both offenses are really good. So I call it a wash to be fare.

2) Clemson defensively is much better and experienced and they are AT HOME.

3) So this is what history has taught me.... If both sides of the ball equal...and I believe they are. Who has the upper hand on the other side? And that's Clemson IMO and by a large margin at this point. Plus, I like Boyd at home here.

2nd Part of your post..... (and it's not as if they DOMINATED LSU).

Well, they kind of did. Here are some facts from that game......

Clemson 32 first downs LSU 9

Clemson 445 total yds LSU 219

Clemson TOP 36:21 LSU 23:39

Clemson shot themselves in the foot over in over in that game...IMO, The score should have been in a Clemson double digit win

I think Clemson wins something like 34 - 20

As far as the TCU game.... I'm really high on TCU this season. I think Patterson has a team good enough to win the big 12

I will be on Texas Tech more then likely.... I think they take care of SMU in a impressive fashion in opening the Kingsburry era

Boom - gr8 takes on ur team ... another factor you may/may not have considered is the effect of Rodney Garner leaving after 14 seasons with the Dawgs - a prolific line coach and recruiter with many kids in the NFL, not only does UGA have a lot of questions on the defensive side of the ball, they have change/adjustment in their line coach (i.e., the new guy can only hope to match, he will not exceed) which, for a team like Georgia who by their style of play depends on winning up front, is a big issue.

I'm curious as to your reasoning on TCU and why you like them so much this year - love Gary Petterson - I have not kept up w/ the toads much since the Rose Bowl ....

Georgia runs one play on defense every snap, and only got away with it because they had all NFL players on their roster last year. Their defense lost everything and their staff will be hopeless stopping Clemsons defense, and Murray is as overrated as it gets. His record against top 25 teams is laughable.. Clemson will f*** them up with Boyd Week 1, count on it.

No respect for the dawgs, we'll see... Will be a shootout for sure, UGA rushes for 200+ and throws for 300+ (can they stop Clemson from doing the same?). It's all about turnovers, crazy punt returns/blocks and going on fourth down in this game. Can't wait!
