that is wearing glasses with blinders on, kind of like those southern types who claim the south has the best high school football every year, I live in Texas, trust me I hear it from all these rednecks, let me give you a breakdown of NFL players by state as of 2013
1. California (225)
2. Florida (186)
3. Texas (184)
this is relevant because you said the Noles have more speed than a Pac12 all star squad would, the west coast teams have lots of speed, hence the reason
California has the most high school talent and the most NFL playersalso when comparing Oregon to Florida St and speed, I'll just toss out 2 skill position players, Marcus Mariota and DA Thomas, find me skill position players from Florida St with more speed than those two and then you have a conversation, I'm not talking about a player that gets 3 touches per game, I'm talking about skill position players of relevance like the 2 that I mentioned from Oregon
if you want to say Bama is better than I'll agree, Bama is the top program in college and its not close, they have won 2 in a row and still unbeaten this year, I have them ranked 1 in my personal poll on page 1 of this thread but Florida St has done nothing this year or in recent years for me to think they are the best team in the country, winning at Clemson is nice but comparing the Clemson & Maryland offenses to the Oregon offense is a huge reach (which I think you did in the post above the one I quoted if I'm not mistaken)
this isn't 1990 anymore, FSU has a nice squad and it's great to see them be relevant again but to say they would beat Oregon 8 out of 10 times is just being too much of a homer, if we somehow get that matchup for the title then your Noles will 100% certain be the underdog, not the favorite, Oregon would be a minimum of -3 and probably closer to -6
this is fun conversation and hopefully we see the game between these two (very doubtful) but I would look forward to that game
I like Florida St being good again, I really do, it's just better for college football but let them accomplish more than a win at Clemson before we start thinking they are in the elite
I don't mean elite by winning a National Title (Oregon hasn't done that either & may never do it) but they have played in a title game and many more BCS bowls in recent years than the Noles have, rise above the rest of those from the south that see things with blinders, recognize the west coast has great talent (as I've shown above) and let's see how things play out
hope you guys smash Miami this weekend and continue on the quest to playing for the title
