Good stuff. Totally agree about the UC effort. That’s a team which appears to be totally bought-in.
The proliferation of televised games means we have a lot of announcers who would otherwise be calling D2 games or Single A baseball getting shots. Half grew up on Long Island and went to Syracuse, so there’s an annoying similarity to much of it; and, as someone above noted, many don’t know how to let silence do a little of the work. Very few have what I would call “presence.” They are basically interchangeable, and mediocre.
I hate the whole targeting thing, well intended as it may be.
Most of you have heard my thoughts on replay 1,000 times, but that 12-man review thing in the AM game was one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen. It really did feel like the call was really “screw you Aggies; Clemson is going back to the title game.” Keep your eyes out for “just in case,” um, “flags” in Bama games too.
Tennessee reminds me of the Mike London UVa teams - often quite bad; sometimes pretty good, but never as good the stats would have led one to believe; and, always their own worst enemies.

Welcome to the College Football Playoffs Clem. That's right, play 1 ranked team and you win the golden ticket. Will there be another ranked team on their schedule the rest of the season? Don't get me wrong, they are good, defending champions but to play one competitive game and that's it is a little ridiculous.
It's not Clemson's fault that Georgia won't play the Tigers. And what makes you think Clemson would lose if Clemson played more ranked teams?
This year and the four years that Clemson made the playoff, Clemson was 2-2 against Alabama and 17-0 against other ranked teams. The stupid narrative about Clemson's schedule needs to stop.

Never mentioned Georgia nor any other school, in fact I said Clemson was good, defending champions. BUT to honestly think the schedule difference is "stupid narrative", well that is totally wearing blinders. Did you watch the physicality of the Texas/LSU game? Imagine having to play 5 or more of those type games a year. The toil on the body is tremendous. The mental aspect to get up for those type games is totally different than playing a team you know does not present a challenge. As good as Clemson is, if they had to play an LSU, Alabama, Ohio St. or name another major contender their season would not turn out the same.
So, if Clemson loses one game and say an LSU only has one loss to Bama, who do you think will get the nod? Everyone has been quoted as saying if Clemson was to slip up and lose, they would probably have a difficult time making the playoffs. Strength of schedule means a hell of a lot in college football. The problem is not Clemson as so much that the ACC is worse than the MWC.
Those Who do not learn from History, are doomed to repeat it

Speaking of the "Analytics".... I kept hearing about it during the Army/Michigan game. When Army had 4th & 2 near midfield in the 2nd half they punted. When Army had 4th & 1 at their own 15 against Rice they went for it. Does any of that make sense?
One game, you're playing Michigan....
Another, you're playing Rice...........
Seem to be different circumstance to me..l.

Shea Patterson is not protecting the ball. Not in the pocket, not when he runs. Careless and unaware of his surroundings. I’d love to see Joe Milton get worked into the offense. McCaffery getting some reps, but Milton I think is going to be very good. 6’5” 245, BIG arm. With the big 10 schedule starting, I don’t expect loads of or any playing time, but I’d love to see him get some snaps.

Late to the party......again. Weird night.........a lightning delay? In Seattle? Then it made it up to my neighborhood......it was like a scene out of "War of the Worlds" (the remake). We just don't see that a lot around here.
So I was up til 2am watching a live game that didn't involve Hawaii........weird. Cal pulling the upset isn't that surprising. Justin Wilcox knows CP very well..........& Wilcox won't be at Cal much longer. He is the hottest young coach out there right now. (did I just write that? wow )
I heard a lot about Texas & LSU arguing this week about who is really "DBU". After watching both qb's throw for over 400 yds. I think the definitive answer is "neither".
I read an article about a post-New Mexico St. game interview with Nick Saban yesterday in which he claimed that "we're playing the best teams that will play us"...........they must've left out the part about "either in our stadium or a neutral site within driving distance".
I think it's safe call Chip Kelly a fraud. He was in the right place at the right time a few years ago & he has milked it for all it was worth.
Kudos to Mel Tucker @ Colorado. I wasn't sure the Buffs would win 3-4 games all season, yet here they are sitting 2-0 with both wins of the "good" variety.

Would make sense... but the announcers made a point of saying the analytics and numbers were just that, and didn't matter when it came to opponent or game situation

I say it does. But, Rice is playing Rice opponents, and Michigan is playing Michigan opponents. I say, mileage varies..........

I mentioned Georgia because Clemson wants to play Georgia every year, and then the Dawgs are the ones crying about being left out when they could just settle it on the field in September. As for the physicality aspect, it was the Aggies dropping like flies yesterday, and Clemson routinely beats your other major contenders, so, yeah, the narrative is silly. And the notion that the ACC is worse than the MWC is idiotic.

Army was 3-3 on 4th downs at that point in the game, so that doesn't seem to be a factor. I just think it's strange any way you look at it and none of us are going to figure it out

The ACC is really bad this year. The Coastal division is probably the worst of all the power 5.
GT, Duke, Pitt all really bad.
Miami, UNC and VT all mediocre at best.
Virginia is the only solid team there.
SEC East is worse.....by far. Teams in the east have lost to the following: Wyoming, Georgia State, BYU, Purdue, UNC......and we are in week 2 lol. You would think after 2 weeks those bad losses would be a joke, but unfortunately they are not. Georgia is good, everyone else is not

Clemson and UGA fans would love the yearly matchup. Logistically it makes perfect sense; hardly any further than GaTech.
I'm not so sure the schools do; sure there is some window dressing around it but at the present point in time, Clemson needs UGA on their schedule much more so than UGA needs Clemson. Certainly not Clemson's fault the ACC completely imploded either.
There's been talk that strength of schedule is important in CFB, but I would suggest that it's really not. Clemson and Bama are prime examples (and maybe OSU, UGA, and OU as well) that if your "brand" is strong enough, your SOS is going to get overlooked a little bit. A 1-loss LSU would be a prime example this year. Let's say the Tigers only lose to Bama but Clemson is undefeated; in my opinion, LSU would have proved more on the field but we all know Clemson is getting the nod. As long as that holds true, why would Clemson bother putting more than 1 decent, non-conference, power 5 opponent on the schedule? And as long as Clemson is playing USCjr every year, UGA will definitely not be a yearly rivalry... just a home and home every now and then.

1) MARYLAND has decided that scoring points looks fun and maybe they should try it.... And they are damn good at it apparently.
2) I already knew this but maybe the rest of the country is catching on.... CAL coach Wilcox will not be there much longer... if USC is smart, they would grab this guy ASAP. Just unbelieveable what he’s done in attitude change for Bears. And he’s a USC guy.
3) Texas stood toe-to-toe with LSU and didnt get clobbered. That defense will be GREAT with another year under Orlando. They are really young too. Those goal line stands by LSU were where you saw the difference. The Oline just couldnt push LSU but Cmon.... How many Olines CAN?!

That'll be the test for LSU this year. Can their DL hold up against an OL like Bama? And if they win there, they'll have to face (most likely) Georgia who has the heaviest OL in the country. If so, I like LSU to go a long way this year...

If they played right now, I would give the edge to LSU. However, LSU has Florida, @ Miss St, Auburn, and @ Bama. The USED to get that bye week before Bama, which made it competitive for the most part. But Bama gets Arkansas and Tennessee both at home before. Ouch

Shhhhhh!! Brian Kelly is approaching the standard 10-12 year exit window at ND. Would LOVE to snag this guy for the Irish.....but yeah, he won't last past this year. Imagine if he had much talent? Chris Peterson is no dummy, but the stuff Wilcox was running with his front 7 on D was awesome late on Sat.

Is Swann's resignation a BIG step in that direction?

I'll say Wisconsin -3, it'll be bet up immediately imo. There are never many good spots to bet Michigan bc they're such a public team.... but this is the perfect spot. They've look terrible for 2 weeks, Wisconsin great for 2 weeks. Both teams off byes.. tough place to play, but I think it's more a game Michigan wants to play (unlike Army) and UM will win by a couple scores. Will be a big bet for me!

Here's an interesting one... I was looking at the UCF box score to update the Brandon Wimbush Completion % tracker, but he did not play. But that's not the weird part..
UCF won 48-14 with 574 total yards.
The weird part... they were only 3-12 on 3rd down conversions and 1-2 on 4th down. Meaning they basically did all the damage on 1st and 2nd down. FAU's defense is atrocious

I like game day, no it’s not the best but it’s a tradition for me. Also I respect the hell outta Corso and will put up with whatever he puts out there until he can’t put it out any longer. He’s earned the right IMO.. These local networks are fukin awful, BIG, SEC, all of em..
LSU is making a Title run. I have them beating my beloved Tide in T-town this year and Georgia in the SECCG.. Bama losing both ILB will hurt bad in games with a good QB with a quick offense. Only thing hurting LSU is their slobbering coach.. I really like Coach O, as a coordinator, but as a HC? Nope! That team will lay down their lives for him which is awesome. Can he scheme and gameplay, and handle the pressure of being the hunted though? We will see.
Not buying tOSU or Oklahoma.. every year we see both of those teams look great and put up 5000 yds a game until they play a defense with a pulse.
How long is Michigan gonna put up with Harbaugh? Wasn’t Michigan supposed to be Natty champs by now? Wasn’t JH the next Nick Saban? I’m not saying he should be fired, but WTF? Michigan fans, help me understand this please? I see the game as a flaming Dbag.. Am I wrong?
