3* Iowa St +2 to Iowa @ Jack Trice Stadium 

Cyclone Center Newell is ? with a sprained knee. HC Matt Campbell was in hopes he could practice today. 
All purpose RB Nwangwu (shoulder) is probable. MC says he practiced last week.
If neither plays, so be it, I'm not worried about. I believe they will both play, this is the Cy-Hawk Rivalry after all. Anyway, in the interests of full disclosure you have been warned.
I'm not waiting to see how these injuries play out because I wanted the +2 even though I believe the Cyclones upset the #18 Hawkeyes regardless of who plays or who doesn't.

Weather at game time? I could care less. All I know is the atmospheric pressure surrounding this game has building here for the last few years. A Cyclone warning is now in effect for Ames, IA Saturday afternoon.

The struggle with N Iowa plays to our favor imo. They are off a bye and have had two weeks to get ready for this game. Helk, they've been getting ready for this one all summer.

Campbell now has the athleticism, physicality in the trenches, and depth to go toe to toe against "big brother". Brock Purdy is special. The Cyclone D is top shelf and nasty. 

Live dog? Cyclone Nation will be rabid and Jack Trice Stadium will be off the hook.

Interesting how the Clones opened around -2, then all the "smart" bettors jumped all over the Eyes.  Agree - love this one in Ames.  BOL Funk!

Continued:
I listed the ISU injury situation above. Center Colin Newell remains questionable though I think he starts and goes for as long as he can. Otherwise the Clones are healthy.

The same cannot be said for the Hawkeyes. Iowa is going to be thin on the back line of their Defense. They have a cluster of injuries in their secondary.

Starting FS Kaveon Merriweather missed the New Jersey U game with a sprained foot and will remain on the sideline for this game.

Backup CB Julius Brent's left the Miami OH game with a leg injury and remains out.

Backup CB Riley Moss has a sprained knee and is out 4-6 weeks.

Jr Starting CB Matt Hankins pulled a hamstring vs Rutgers and did not return to action. HC Kirk Ferentz was noncommittal when questioned about Hankins availability for Saturday, saying he will see how he does the remainder of the week and go from there.

Jr SS Geno Stone left the RU game early but is expected to play Sat.

The backup CBs for this game will be 2 freshman.

DC Phil Parker's base Defense is a 4-3 with 3 LBs and 4 DBs. Last year they added a 4-2-5 alignment they called their "Cash" D with 5 DBs. (Nickel package) The "Cash" DB was unknown Amani Hooker who went on to be the Big 10 DB of the year. His versatility (nickel back-hybrid linebacker) was key to the success the Hawkeyes D had last year. Hooker now plays for the Tennessee Titans. 
If Iowa uses their Cash alignment any they will be using some green personnel. 

After facing Miami OH and Rutgers the Iowa secondary will challenged by the dynamic duel-threat of Brock Purdy who takes the Cyclones O to a level Iowa has yet to see in their first 2 games.The Iowa D has had good success against stationary QBs in the past. Purdy is far from just being a pocket passer and his ability to scramble and throw on the run make him unpredictable and dangerous. He is the Wild Card in this matchup. Keep in mind he did not play in this rivalry last year. 

The Hawkeyes lost 4 starters from their dominant DL last year. But I must note that DE AJ Epeneza was All Big 10 though he came off the bench. Obviously he played a lot. Must admit he is a beast. Some "experts" argue he is the best DL in the league this year.
Iowa also lost hard-nosed MLB Jack Hockaday.
The Hawkeyes return 4 starters from last years D.

On offense Iowa will be without starting LT Alaric Jackson (knee). RG Cole Banwart missed the first two games and Ferentz is hopeful he can rotate him into the game some though that is not a definite yet.

The Cyclones 2 deep lineup on both sides is a veteran bunch.

I'm on all three games with you BIG! I got Iowa State at +3 -120, I see it's dropping as we speak. Sharp dough coming in on ISU I think. I REALLY like Charlotte -20 vs. UMASS. My high school offense from the 70's could score 50 on that defense. Umass D is the worst in college football.

Good luck this week Rufus!

Will be on the Cyclones this week as well...I had to wait and see if it ever touched +3 once it started trending that way.  Should've taken it at 2.5 though b/c knew it wouldn't get to 3 and now it's back to 1.5.  Hopefully can catch +2 still, but that ship may have sailed.

Out of curiosity, is there a site you go to for depth charts?  Ourlads seems to be pretty good at keeping up to date, but if they've updated for someone being out it looks like they just remove that guy and you can't always tell if he was a starter, backup or what.

Good to hear you are on the same sides of my early plays. You've won more games than anyone I know of the last 1+ sasons. And that's saying something since I stay in touch with a lot of cappers records in other forums, including touts newsletters, other so called "professional" prognosticators late plays, and hold some play too. I wouldn't mind handling the action of most all of these "pros", but I damn sure wouldn't want to hold your action.
