18 - 12
4-4 this past week. With the biggest moose of the season coming off the over in the Illinois / Washington game. That stuff just makes you sick.
Ten Things We Learned
1. This is why we love college football. You can't write scripts like these, you just can't! What we watched yesterday is just a teaser of things to come for the season. I have never seen so much parity over the college football landscape like we have had over the past couple of seasons. Why? 18-22 year old kids, that's why. Lou Holtz once said you will never have the same team twice. Trust me when I say we still don't have enough information on these teams to make a educated decision on who the top 10 or top 5 is for that matter. 3 more weeks and I think teams true identities will show.
2. The dumbest coaching staff in the country is and has been for a decade now is the Georgia Bulldogs. At times Bobo and Richt can dial up the right plays, but at times they look like coaching is far from what they do for a living. Why challenge that spot? You know it's indisputable! You know that! Why throw the ball on first down when you have those running backs? Run the football until the wheels come off! Look, South Carolina was the beneficiary of a lot of questionable calls in that game. But Georgia still had chances to win yet the coaching did them in AGAIN! Any Georgia fan or SEC fan will tell you the same things im telling you....Mark Richt is a IDIOT!
3. I didn't see it but people are saying Texas messed the coin toss up and gave UCLA the ball to start both half's. I said it last week and I will say it again, WTF is going on with the Texas football program? I like Charlie Strong and I think he is the best man for the job, but this is going to take some time cause the program is broken right now. The coin toss?? Really??
4. Do really need to talk about the Florida Program? I know some on here get pissed when I talk about Florida but let's be honest here. This is poorly and I mean poorly coached football team. Kentucky came to the swamp and probably should have won that football game. Probably is being kind. If not for a miracle in OT then they do. What will it take for you Florida fans to get on board with this Muschamp is idiot campaign I been running for 3 years now? This guy is a COORDINATOR. He is not a head coach. What will it take? Losing to Georgia Southern or Vanderbilt? Oh wait!
5. Iowa? Really? It was Iowa st.....
6. Arkansas is good football team. I talked about them last week as I thought this was a team that was flying under the radar. They did lose to Auburn but guess what people? Just about everybody is gonna lose to Auburn, especially @ Auburn. I think they are about 2 years away from being pretty special, but with that being said...I do think Bret is sort of a dullard at times. He looks like a lost puppy. The only reason Wisconsin never reached the top of the mountain IMO was Bret. But at this point I really like where this team is headed.
7. As soon as I took USC last week I kind of knew it was a bad play. Give B.C some credit. How in the world did that team ( who has looked bad ) beat that talented group from Southern Cal? College football is great for these reasons. NO way NO how does B.C match up with them. It's not even possible, but it is possible when what? I say this all the time and it happened several times yesterday. Anybody remember?? It's called playing @ HOME. People can choose to believe this or not but it's the biggest truth about college football. The Game is decided most of the time simply by where it's played. Louisville, Georgia and USC found out.
8. Bob Stoops is a funny guy. I really think he takes alot of pride in beating the SEC. You can tell too! This guy likes to talk a little smack and for the most part backs it up. But come on it was just Tennessee, Bob. I did find it funny however when ESPN was spinning that propaganda machine yesterday morning when they said.... Oklahoma has no excuse, they better deliver against Tennessee. But then in the next segment said....Can Missouri " get up for Central Florida " laying down the excuse wagon just in case! Oh my...... SMH
9. Lines are about to get tight from this point on out. If you thought they were tight this past week, you haven't seen anything yet. Usually about week 4 every year Vegas gets it right. So I say this, be careful from here on out and stay with the 3 truths for college football betting. 1)Thursday night home dogs. 2) Always consider where the game is played no matter the match up. 3) If the line looks funny, there is probably a reason for it.
10. This past week marked the 13th anniversary of 9/11. 9/11 means alot in this country and I hope that never changes. I spent some time watching shows on firefighters, EMS, and just common individuals talk about their stories. I remember where I was that morning, drinking coffee at work, nothing unusual, just another day. Then the reports broke. I watched the 2nd plane hit an was still confused about what was going on. Most of us were all confused. As the hours moved on watching the innocent people jump from the buildings taking their own lives is for ever etched in my mind. I was completely heart broken and man enough to say I cried as I watched. College football is a avenue for all of us to go to, it helps us separate our lives and minds from real world day to day activities. But I know it's just a game and the things that matter in this world aren't played between lines. It's family, faith and life. Saturday's are great in the fall but don't ignore the things that really matter in this world just to consume your time with a game. At the end of the day our picks, opinions and thoughts about this game are really meaningless. Family, faith and life are the real things an I encourage you not to miss out on those things, cause they only come once, football comes every fall. Spend more time with the things that matter in this world and I guarantee you.....the best is yet to come.
