Good read as always Carter...but lets be real here.. Have you ever thought that the reason Bama doesn't get flagged for holding, as much as the other teams, is because they are better coached? Bama under Saban has been pretty disciplined in not only getting holding calls, but personal fouls, offsides, and false starts, as well... Good coaching bro and if you don't believe that, just go back and look at penalty totals under Mike Shula
Good luck this week

ALABAMA wasn't any good under Schula . Let's face it. the country wants Alabama in the playoffs . They don't want ole miss or Ms state or S Carolina or a Georgia or any other team that doesn't have a big football name. They will settle with a Auburn a Florida or an LSU because they have won national championships lately .
Answer this question If it is all coaching then explain how LSU under Les Miles won a national championship. I don't call him a great coach and I don't think you do either. Listen if you don't believe Alabama get favoritism that's your not paying attention when you watch their games.
One more thing. Why do NFL offensive lines have 15 times more holding calls than Alabama has' called? Are not they coached by great coaches and better coaches than Saban since he couldn't make it in the pros. Believe what you want but I know what I see when Alabama plays the other teams in the S.E.C. and they are shown favoritism 95% of the time when they need it.

Yeah, Alabama is coached to hold in a way that the refs will not call it on them. But they WILL call it on a Miss. St. or Arkansas or Ole Miss or Kentucky, etc. I see it every time I watch Bama play.

The reason that Bama, Florida, LSU and Auburn won National Championships is not because the country and refs wanted them to win, its because they had good football teams.... Sure a good team in the list above may get a benefit of the doubt called every once in awhile against one of the two Mississippi schools who haven't been relevant in the SEC in the last, well never actually...but to say whoever Bama plays, has to also play against the officials is silly....

Penalty Yards
West Virg 6-55 Bama 7-49
FAU 3-23 Bama 6-60
So Miss 6-50 Bama 3-25
Florida 5-36 Bama 11-80
So what are you basing your opinions on?

In the past SEC refs have been the best (all conferences do this) about protecting the teams that should be the best from getting upset so they can have multiple teams near the top of the rankings at the end of the year... not just Alabama.

These games weren't close. The bad officiating comes when games Alabama goes down to the wire in. And far as the number of penalties, pay attention to when Alabama starts getting called for a penalty. They have the majority of their penalties called on them when they have gotten the game under control. In other words the official's start evening the penalties on Alabama after the outcome had been decided. This the honest truth cause I have watched it for many years. If the game is close Saturday I guarantee you there will be a major call in Alabama's favor.
Yes I bet against Alabama sometimes but it is when their line is really inflated, I think it is inflated some this weekend.

Wow Carter, that's quite a burr you put under the Bama saddle. But you are dead on, Bama is coached better in holding techniques than most and don't get it called for it as much. Tideman, how many of those penalties were for holding?
Anyway, since you like Ole Miss, wait as the line rises, then bet it. I think you may end up with at least 7. It was an average play for me at -5.5 on the other side. We just put our emphasis on different aspects of each team and came up with different answers. Some people need to grow up and realize their can be different opinions. I appreciate your insight and consider it in making my decisions. I give you mine as well, and you can do whatever you want with it.
Starting to like South Carolina more as the week wears on.

BY all means comment Atlanta . I like your input .
I also liked Ole miss at 4 /1/2 but knew it was going up so why take it at 4 1/2. It is already at 7 and I don't see it going any higher because to many people will try to middle the game. I will definitely be on Ole miss when it is all said and done. But my thoughts on the officiating will keep me from having Ole Miss being a really large play.

First Making it or not in the PRO's doesn't tell if a coach is GREAT or not. He(saban) just doesn't have what it takes to coddle millionaires... Some guys want to teach, and grow humans. In his case, making a 5M a year D-back is not in the cards..
The SEC is NOW full of talented Coaches, but Miles won on the back of Saban prospects. Miles is OK, not great... he gets the talent out of Lousiana it is a gift to coach in that state.
Gonna tell ya too, when Urban Meyer seen Saban was going to ALabama, he had that heart attack... He wanted nothing to do with coaching against other good coaches in the SEC. He ran away once it looked like he may go 8-5
Too bad the SEC will have so many 2 loss teams. Most are really good and the Talnet from Texas, ala, lou, flor, georiga, and miss, is untouchable. I am from the north, but the talent is here in florida...

Yes Alabama does get the benefit of the doubt still. Because they won so much. Don't see the officiating, etc... As long as LSU has iles they will never win a championship again. Have talent, not great overall coaching. I think Mullen is really good and freeze is OK.
Sumlin, we'll see, great already, but have a feeling he will slowly lose the team like to lack of attention. I think a lot of black coaches get stuck having to be a buddy to many kids. Maybe they are not as tough as needed.I hate to say that, because most of the time all is equal. I just think that when things are going great it can be easy to make a mistake, a stupid mistake like forgetting what to do on a blocked FG, or personal fouls for taunting. A player may go to a guy like Sumlin and say... Comon cuz....take it easy on me, were family... I have to wonder what he responds with... No doubt, he is well educated and a great coach.
This happens with all coaches at one time or another. How you respond is what matters... People can say color doesn't or shouldn't matter. At times it does, of course everyone denies it, and can't mention it. But it happens...
Reminds me of Georgia... Year in and year out they do the same stupid stuff...
FSU has a problem now with it.. D-backs leaving their man to try and make a highlite reel interception..

Ole Miss is good but if the line is 4.5 by gametime which I doubt it will be I'll be forced to lay the short #. Like Ole Miss as they are much improved, just doubt Wallace has what it takes to lose by less than 7. Will probably pay to see it. GL Carter

Trey you don't have to wait till game time to get Alabama -4 1/2 It went from 7 to 4 1/2 in 3 hours this afternoon. And Wallace is a better qb than you are giving him credit for.

I wouldn't go that extreme onthemound#5 , but if someone that really watches college football especially Alabama football and says they don't get favoritism is not being honest with you. Probably the premier team in all the major conference get the same favoritism, don't know much about them though because I watch 95% S.E.C. football.
