On SVP today (yes ESPN), Ryen Russilo participated in a mock committee for the 2008 season.  It's very interesting how it ended up and the discussions that took place but my issue is with the question at the end.

When it was finished, they asked the committee if it ends up that they feel the best 4 teams in the nation include 2 SEC teams and 2 Big 12 teams, would they really make that the FIRST playoff??  They stood by the answer of "if those are the best 4 teams, they will be in the playoff."  

That conversation disgusts me and I think it would be a travesty. 

I'm not completely against 2 teams making it to the playoff, but I do not want to see any rematches.  Maybe it's because my team was on the losing end of one, but rematches have been the worst National Championship games.  It also leaves too many unanswered questions.

i want to go big on michigan state.  how big is it a play for you?   i know indiana has a freshman qb starting this weekend because their starter is out.

I have a buddy ( South Carolina grad ) and he complains about this. He says, this is the most embarrassing thing in his mind. He says, why should I pull for Georgia? I know us, Clemson grads/fans/whatever...Hate FSU and Georgia Tech for ALL the right reasons. Why? They are rivals to us. We take pride in beating them....and watching them lose games at times they shouldn't......it gives us something to rag them on.



I have made the statement and I stand by it..... Today's college football fan is misguided and uniformed. 10 Years ago there was NO talk about this conference pride nonsense. It makes the fans look silly and it has hurt the overall integrity of the sport. At no time should I ever pull for Georgia tech in any thing.....Why? That's why it makes the sport great. The Real rivalries and traditions...

When Texas A&M left the Big 12 it was bad for college football in general. It hurt a national rivalry. It hurt the GAME!

When I look around at the typical fan now, it's IMO a fan who is all the things I said ( misguided and uninformed )..... I remember in the 90's when FSU was just destroying teams. WE/US Clemson, were sitting at the TV begging for them to go down. I remember when Virginia finally beat them on that Thursday night when Warrick Dunn fell just short of the goal line. It was great for college football.

Football was different 20 years ago from the Fan/Grad stand point. The greatest team ever IMO ( 95 Nebraska ) was beating down Florida in the NC game and I know for a fact that fans of Georgia, S.C and LSU were loving every minute of it. No Conference pride, just college football at it's purist.


THE worst thing that has happened to this sport is ESPN...                                              Thought it was funny how Fat Trevor BYU alum said " That just 4 out of 5 conference Champions should go to playoffs.. Agree,with the conference pride.Its really a juvenile argument.I don't think I've ever seen a season where there are so many good teams literally without a GREAT team.Maybe its too early to tell.Its wasted energy to say if team A could beat team B especially if they aren't playing..I'm surprised how much respect Auburn is getting.I guess they saw the same game I saw.If that was the 1st and 6th best team.in the country...well,never mind.Still don't think State is that could.I'm taking weekend of betting...just burnt and sick of it.I'm sure I will change my mind by Friday afternoon..

Boom,.......... just a thought but I would like to see a Pac 12 team in the playoff but I don't see any team besides maybe Oregon making it through the conference with 1 loss...If Oregon can beat Stanford and that's a big if especially with their history......maybe they make it but that's it....UCLA had their chance and failed miserably....and if Oregon loses to Stanford.....they are out....appreciate your thoughts....

I would hate to see the playoff expand any more than four.  Never have we finished the season wondering if the 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th team in the BCS was actually the best team in the nation.  The large majority of the time, the BCS got it right.  Hopefully, this all plays itself out and people can mostly agree on the top 4 teams, but the way ESPN is pushing their SEC Network agenda, it's tough to believe other schools will get their fair shot.  I wish we moved to a 4 team playoff and kept the BCS system.

Paul Finebaum is calling for an indefinite suspension of Winston today and it's all they are talking about.  How can you call a man guilty based on rumors?  Even if he was guilty, Manziel got 0.5 a game and I don't remember the outcry of the SEC homers then.

ESPIN is a joke. It's one thing for Finebaum to be on the SECN, fine, but when he is a guest on a regular ESPN show as an "unbiased" analyst, that is a red flag. The guy's recent book is entitled, "My Conference Can Beat Your Conference. Why the SEC Still Rules College Football." Having his opinion on ANYTHING outside the SEC is ludicrous. And still, people believe he is unbiased.

6. I use to always pull for Vandy. But ever since that behind-s Mason showed up I have actually enjoyed watching these clowns lose. Did you seriously only beat Charleston Southern 21-20? The team I called for to shut the program down ( UMASS ) is on o par with you. You know how I know that? Cause it took a missed FG for them to lose to you. I like most of your picks. I am curious of why you think Northwestern covers? I will be big on Nebraska as I think they expose the Northwestern run defense. 

I hear you on the SEC bias and how you bash on the SEC homers but I have made comments before and never seen you answer them. I would love to see Miss. St. or Ole Miss make it to the National Championship game. I always root for the SEC teams to do well in the bowl games strictly because of recruiting. Do you not think it helps recruits when they see the SEC do well in bowl games year after year? I hate Alabama and never root for them but the rest of the teams in the SEC could do well and I wouldn't have a problem with it. If you don't think that helps recruiting then you are just mistaken. I could give a rats azz about bragging rights but if it is easier to sell recruits on your team by telling them how good the SEC is then why would you have a problem with it? (unless of course the team you root for plays in another conference)

As far as ESPN and media bias with the SEC- don't you think if the ACC, PAC 12 or anyone else won 6 NC's in a row that the media wouldn't be all over their nutsack? It's nothing more than the flavor of the month and sooner or later it will be some other conference getting all the love and bias from the media and bandwagon fans.

Hopefully Clemson covers this week. I don't see how they don't but I don't know much about their back up QB. Good luck this week.

I think it's safe to say Brian Kelly will always have good teams at Notre Dame.

Maybe not championship quality but really good competitive teams.

How did I cost people money?  I posted my plays last week and went 5-2... 

Auburn lost on the road to the current #1 team in the country... and that game doesn't have ANYTHING to do with Florida St or what will happen to them if they make it to a playoff...

Stop putting the cart before the horse and let the season play out... you can celebrate mid-season all you want, but it means nothing!
