Memphis entered Mississippi State territory four times in the first
half. They missed field goals on two trips, had a holding call wipe
away a first-and-10 at the Bulldogs 15 and lost another chance on Ryan
Williams' first interception. They also failed to convert eight
third-down tries.
my question now is, was Miss. St's D even that good to begin with? No doubt these failed opportunities change with the versatility of a Cam Newton? A better team may have converted here and there and we may be a looking at a result very similar (points allowed wise) to Auburn's result against Arkansas State?
