I don't get it. say the mountain west is the best conference or the sec and im an ohio state fan, what does that get them? say the big ten was the best conference where does that get ohio state? all this just to have the claim you played in the best conf.?y

Great article in the NY times sports section today about the SEC being too good for its own overall health. All the title contenders must play each other in a brutal schedule that fills the remaining 2/3 of the season. It is quite possible that there will be no undefeated teams left in the SEC and Oklahoma or Texas will be playing USC for all the marbles due to the fact that the PAC is so weak this year.

Why do people brag about a conference? If your team does well, great, gloat about it a little (but have a little class also). Who the fuck gives a shit how well the rest of the conference does? If you cheer for the Giants do you cheer for the entire NFC East? No, you hope they lose every single game that you don't have money on. If you cheer for the Yankees do you cheer for the entire AL East? No, you hope they lose every single game that you don't have money on. So if you cheer for Miss St, LSU or Florida should you cheer for the rest of the SEC? No, you should hope UF, Tennessee, Auburn etc. lose every game that you don't have money on.

People do it because for so many years, nobody respected the conferance. every year we definatly had some of the best teams in the nation but it was always teams like OU, USC, OSU, and miami playing for a title... auburn went undefeated in '04 to get shut out of the game, and nobody realized what it took for them to do that untill now
