Where will Petrino go next? Who will Arkansas consider?

John L Smith, Alex's uncle.  10 month contract.  That's definitely thinking outside the box.

 For a team primed to start the season in the Top 10 and hoping to have a program elevating type of season, to hire John L. as their HC is a laughable proposition in nearly every scenario. But I think it works in this case. I really don't see Smith doing much coaching at all. Petrino will likely have complete control of the offense and Haynes the defense. Players and coaches don't miss a beat and nobody feels threatened by new coaching schemes/philosophy. With Smith signing a 10 month contract it shouldn't even hurt recruiting as I'm sure that prospects will told of the 'Hogs plans to land a "big name" HC for the 2013 season.

 No matter what happens this year I can't see Smith being the HC in Fayetteville in 2013 and I think that he and everyone involved realize that. As for Bobby Petrino he should head to Ogden and lobby to take John L's place at Weber State.

Gary Patterson is the ultimate answer....but he seems to be the best answer to a lot of programs...he'll land somewhere else soon...2 more seasons TOPS at TCU.  He was confirmed at KSU two season back until something weird happened to blow it all up ( now we have Bill Snyder again-boo hoo).

There is almost certainly an asst coach in the SEC that fits the profile of someone that can fill the void at Arky for the next 2-3 yrs....

The next guy won't last...he'll just fill the gap until they can hit next big target.

Smith is a former Ark. assistant AND won't last. Brilliant!

 There's no doubt that the 'Hogs have an abundance of talent but I believe that if they do win the SEC it won't be because of John L. Smith. I thought that it was understood that this was one and done for Smith, but after listening to his press conference it seems as if he may have hopes of hanging around a little longer but I can't see it happening.

 I actually was thinkin' that Weber State might hire an interim HC to work with Smith's newly assembled staff and let John L. return in 2013.

Sadly, some college/university will make excuses for his disgraceful conduct and hire him as their football coach because colleges/universities in America are shameless, greedy hypocrisies.

Petrino ends up as The New Head Football coach at The University of Tennessee 2013

Gary Patterson has himself a great situation, even now with tougher schedules looming. Very much like Frank Beamer, he has built a power program and has some leeway. As Train mentioned, sometimes peace of mnd and security and all that goes with it can make one happy and be the reason to stay.

I could see a school like UTEP giving Petrino a chance. They took a gamble on Price, but he's just going through the motions now. Plus, UTEP doesn;t have any moral code to abide by...it's friggin El Paso.
