Why Georgia HAS to be in over LSU and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot...

I thought it was based on the computers idea.  I know voters half one half, but that bigger half goes to an f'n Hewlett Packard somewhere making picks based on schedules and when you lost last.

First of all, I am anything but an LSU fan. Check out collegefootballmadcapper.blogspot.com, which I write for a bunch of my buddies, and you'll be able to see that. Les Miles is borderline retarded, they've been overrated all year, and I'm absolutely sic of ESPN wishcasting them to the #1 spot all year. They are probably my least favorite team in the country. If Georgia does go ahead of them, I'll take a measure of pleasure from it knowing that they got shut out, but I'll still disagree with it.

Second, I can't remember the last time I've been called an idiot, but you've managed to pull the trick twice within the same thread. By the way, even though you disagree with me, I'm not about to call you an idiot. The fundamental difference between the opinions is that you think winning the conference is meaningless, and I think it means quite a lot. How can LSU be the champion of the SEC while Georgia, who did not even win the SEC East because of their play, has the chance to win the National Title? It doesn't make logical sense. Just like Kansas shouldn't be in the MNC game. That's the root of my contention, as well as the fact that Georgia was soundly thrashed in one of their losses while LSU lost their games in triple overtime. In my opinion, you have two teams with similar resumes, but one's the champ of the conference and one isn't. If you think it means something you're on LSU's side, if you think it means nothing, you're on Georgia's side. That's the difference. You, as well as ACC have a different view, and there's nothing idiotic about your view. I think you should see it my way, but hey, that's your opinion.

Tennessee +7 1/2 v LSU: Ok, can someone please explain to me why I keep hearing people on the radio say variations of the following: "I realize that LSU has lost two games, but in my opinion, if they had a playoff, they would walk right through it." Must we continue to listen to people continue to say that LSU is he best team in the country? Based on what? The Virginia Tech game? After that game, we assumed that this was what we could expect from LSU. Then the Tulane game happened, where they trailed at halftime. We all figured that was an anomaly. Then the should have lost to Florida. Then they definitely should have lost at home to a decent Auburn team. Then they should really definitely have lost to a .500 Alabama squad. Another anomaly. Then they gav up 465 yards and got outgained by 100 against Ole Miss with their backup QB in there. Fluke. Then they lost at home to a ho hum Arkansas team(lost to Kentucky at home, hammered by Tennessee, etc) when they were playing for the right to go to the National Championship as a 2 TD favorite. So what game was the anomaly? Yeah, the Va Tech game. Conclusion: As much as we all want LSU to be the best team in the country, they just aren't, ok? They're coached by a moron, and they just arent the best team in the country. Deal with it America, and move on. ok.....so now they get Tennessee. They've been carved up by just about everyone in their last 8 games, and you can make a case that this is the best offense they have faced since Florida. Very balanced. LSU does do a couple things well: put pressure on the QB, and get turnovers. However, Erik Ainge does a great job of holding on to the ball, and he's only been sacked 4 times ALL SEASON. LSU is bummed out because their chances to play for the MNC are gone. I think it shapes up for a good opportunity for UT. Their defense is not good, but LSU has not exactly lit it up on offense lately either

If LSU jumps everyone, it's a function of voters looking at the situation, deciphering who they think has the best argument for playing in the MNC game, and then voting as such. It doesn't have anything to do with how impressive they think LSU was yesterday.

I'd disagree that there's some sort of media bias against UGA...do you really believe that?

Ohio St. would beat UGA by 40. If you're an UGA fan, be glad they're not going. At least UH is a team they could beat......

Didn't mean to infer there was a media bias against UGA.  Just saying that those teams mentioned above would get the benefit of the doubt as they are prone to be the media "darlings".  Didn't we just have this debate about Michigan last year and pretty much all of the media was hyping the Wolverines to get a re-match vs. OSU.    I just think if you go by the system and where OSU and UGA were ranked before this week......those teams should move up.

If you want serious, then UGA simply doesn't deserve to go ahead of the champions in their own conference. Pretty simple. Kansas actually has a better case, because they have one loss fewer that the champion in their conference, a claim UGA can't make.

Finally, to justify your argument that a poll is invalid by referencing the previous week's edition of the same poll isn't very convincing. Who's to say last weeks poll wasn't wrong if this week's is so messed up? Well, me. Last week's poll was the joke. No way UGA should have been ahead of LSU in the first place. Makes about as much sense as putting VaTech ahead of LSU.

I agree OU is better than both.  But no 2 loss team should play for the title.
