USC has no talent this year?  They don't have top 20 talent?  4 froshmen starting?  No one wants to play at USC they are losing the top talent elsewhere.

k i live in la and i cud see this coming a mile away, but it wont happen. i think sanchez leaving a year early really caused problems for the program. pete wasnt prepared for that, which explains why he was so angry at the press conference. truth is they dont have the top talent anymore, pete used to be able to walk into a house and sign whoever he wanted to. now those talents are getting split up all over the country and west coast. theyll be back in no time, except theyll have company with oregon for a while 

Pete's worse mistake was hyping barkley to the media. That was shocking to hear from him. Its ok for the fans to hype, but he should have toned that down. He went down hill once he started praising him as the best USC QB ever.

No team can win with QB play USC has gotten, I don't care if he is a freshman, He is way overrated coming out of high school.

i dont believe pete is out but i know a booster from another big time school and he telss me the most rediculous things. i feel like this guy just fell victum to one of those rediculous things. pete isnt going anywhere

I still love Barkley and believe when its all said and done, he'll be the best to come out of there. Take a look at Claussen's freshmen stats. They were hideous, way worse then Barkleys. How did a couple of years under his belt help him? Tremendously.

The offensive line was the biggest disappointment of the season. They came in as the #1 or #2 best line, but they have not performed. Absolutely horrible, and you combine that with a freshmen QB who loves to hold onto the ball, you have an 8-4 season.

This season was a mess from the get go. Not sure it gets better next season. They lose the entire secondary, most of the starters on the o-line, possibly Damian Williams, and probably Eversen.

The linebackers were atrocious too. One one guy, Gallippo, is deserving of being a starter in the pac-10. The rest suck.

They do have some sick guys coming in, especially at the wr position. But who knows if they stick around.

Hopefully Pete learned some things this year. I know Barkley will. it would have been terrible if he came in and just played well. He needed some reality.

because he needed a dose of reality. I dont believe in things always being easy, which is what this kid is use to. Nothing would have been worse than for barkley to come into college and just explode. His head would have blown up. This is a good learning experience for him. dude's immature, and I'm not talking football related.

The kid didnt play ok. he's been horrific. I was one of his big supporters and still will be. I'd be shocked if he didnt win the Heisman in 2 years. He's a 3 years a done guy, unles he gets hurt.

I'm in no way bashing him. I'm just putting things in perspective. If you think he's been ok, than you dont watch the games. He's been AWFUL. Cant even make the easy throws. Alot of it has to do with the play calling, actually. With what they call, they shouldnt have named him the starter.

Blame Mark Sanchez for USC's lousy year.  Pete Carroll advised Sanchez NOT to go Pro last year, but Sanchez did it anyway.

Sanchez would've been drafted a lot higher this year, then last year.

first off....   meant no harm.  Things did come easy for him.  He "won" the starting position when everyone knew that Pete was on him.  The praise that Pete showered him with was laughable.  I have watched just about every game, because I live here as I said and it's easy.  When I say OK...it factors in many things.  yes...he's missed some unbelievably easy passes and yes, he's made some strange decision's , But I believe he has a corp of receivers that have dropped some damn easy catch's, he's had an offensive coor. that has made some stooooopid play calling and put them in precarious situations and despite being a true frosh, he has made some really good passes that have surprised the hell out of me. Passes that give you a glimpse of the future QB he will be (Ohio ST. game)  ALL this being said...he led a team with a ton of turnover to a respectful 8-4 season...possibly an 9-3 if he had played in the WASH game.....    all of that adds up to ...well a fairly OK performance.    did we expect 12-0?  they lost to a hot ORE team and a Stanford team that rolled over the D like they were the F'n Saint's and STILL, USC was in the game for 3 quarters (sort of) .....  I put today's loss to AZ on their D, and some questionable play calling.    I was  with AZ as I knew that was wayyyy too many points to give USC         to you WCTrojan.  we share the same thoughts more often than not....  I'm no USC hater....just the local hype/expectation hater.  I'm sure you hear how the radio chodes expect them to win every game.  pac 10 champ 7 years in a row (?) will do that I suppose.      

as far as Heisman in a couple of years....we shall see.

Pete hired two new offense and deffense D-Cords. OBV made the wrong choice on both of them. Don't say this much but he flat out made mistakes. He needs to clean house and hire a new offense and deffense d-cords. No question about it

It was amazing to see the trojans get gashed on Deffense weak in and weak out. Add to the fact that their offense was at times painful to watch.

Heisman winners?  You had great perspective till you mentioned that worthless award.

@Corvalis is no fun and @Tuscon is looking tougher all the time.  But getting Washington, Oregon, ASU and Cal at home is BIG.

I've learned not to listen too much to the old, crusty SC boosters.  They love to complain about EVERYTHING.  Play calling, Stanford's band, other stadium's facilities, etc.  Anyone that tells you Carroll is in trouble is INSANE. 

I'll bet Nick Holt is complaining...  he made another horrible move (first Idaho, now UW).  Anyone that says SC's stuggles involve Chow being gone need look no further than Westwood and that excuse for an offense. 

I take that back.  National Championships?  There is no such thing until a playoff system is instituted.  He has done a great job at USC, but your reasoning was awful.   

You can count on two hands coaches who will stay as long as they want and will hardly ever get fired. Off the top of my head at nearly 3am, I would say Carroll, Saban, Meyer, Stoops and still JoePa. If JoePa starts losing again then you can take his name off, but I see him stepping down rather than being forced out. It would take a Bobby Knight type of situation for these guys to be fired.

Sanchez was drafted fifth overall. My guess is he doesn't have any hindsight at all.

OK..... so give the guy a little slack here..... I am a very friendly guy and I don't know if I am well liked on here or not.... I am not a basher, but love to read a lot of bashes... This guy may have gotten some bad and miscued info.... And that is exactly what it is!!! My cousin plays for USC and I have an Uncle of USC staff... There is no talk of anything of the sort and to even think it is crazy.... To start a thread of the sort is just silly.... I forgive you Pipe for the inside info, unless it is made up!!! Carroll is a gift for any program and USC knows this.... They did a lot with what they had, and they will only get better from here... It is sometimes thrown out there as "a rebuilding year" a little to much, but look at what they lost and where they are now..... There is only one way for this ship to sail and that is forward and you don't want to get in their way.... Carroll stays...the team progresses.... and he will leave no doubts....
