SEC is 5-3 in bowl games.  This is good, but not what we typically expect from the SEC.   LSU lost to Clemson, but Clemson did over achieve for an ACC team this year, Mississippi State lost to Northwestern, and I all you FL backers who thought they were gonna blow out Louisville probably got burried when they got their arse handed to them by Louisville.  This, to me is a hard game to handicap.  I know that it's cliche' but dare I day the wword "destiny?"  Alabama, if they have a weakness is their secondary and as far as their wideouts go, I'd say they are mediocre at best.  I expect a ground and pound game on both sides of the ball here in a defensive exhibition.  I think the moneyline is worth a shot here, so I am taking NotreDame moneyline on a parle' with the total.  Still haven't decided over or under yet, so I am going to have to think this one out but i like getting 5 to 1 odds on what I think will be a close game.

Listen to u....most of the posters here are clueless and lose big over the long haul. HAAAAAAA! Dude, I faded u on your last 3 story book write ups and WON. I'll be more then happy to shut u up next year. Only loser is you, u sit there and talk about your "score predictor" and Johnny public is pickin this, this just shows me you know nothing of sports and who really has the better QB, better O line, and just flat out "better team".

Only one who can pick "losers" is you, hence the comments after everyone of your write ups.

Only loser is you, u sit there and talk about your "score predictor" and Johnny public is pickin this, this just shows me you know nothing of sports and who really has the better QB, better O line, and just flat out "better team".

Only one who can pick "losers" is you, hence the comments after everyone of your write ups.

Finally we get to gameday, man do we need a playoff to keep these teams sharp and have them earn their way in.  44 days since NDs last game, 37 since Alabama's.  Lot of wasted time.

Let's put this schedule nonsense in perspective: ND has not faced the tough gauntlet the media would have you believe, let's look at the facts:  Navy, who got wiped out by Az State in their bowl and beat no one significant, Purdue, who got wiped out by Ok State in their bowl, USC who not only lost 5 games, but got beat by Ga. Tech, who not opnly beat no one but gave up aver 50 points to Middle TN, Michigan who got wiped out by Alabama in the opener, Mich St, who has zero offense and had to come from behind to beat TCU by a point in the bowl, Pitt who got stomped by Ole Miss in the bowl on Saturday and who only needed a chip shot FG to have eliminated ND, Wake Forest who was not compeitive against anyone in the lowly ACC, and then Stanford, a decent team who, like ND has no offense, lost to ND in overtime thanks to a bad call.  Did ND have a good season?  Sure, for ND that was excellent but it doesn't make them a top quality football team.  They have a top 10 defense and an offense that couldn't move the ball against weak teams, much less a defense the quality of Alabama.

I am not saying Bama will definitely cover because their offense is not that great, but Alabama will win this game so any ML plays on ND is suicide.  I think the Tide will cover because the ND offense will not be able to move the ball enough to give their defense any rest.  Wearing ND down with the continual pounding, and working with a short field is why Alabama will likely cover and is why you can afford to lay the 9+ points.  The Bama OL will open holes for the power RBs and make the play action passes work.  I think Alabama wins a game they will control all night, it is a mismatch.  We deserve better, a playoff would have weeded ND out, they are just a Big 10 team that sets their own schedule.

Alabama      30         ND    10        5 unit play    (Hate to see CFB end!)

But occasionally arrogance leads to blindness, or at least severe myopia. And for all the SEC elitists guaranteeing a blowout by whoever wins its league against Notre Dame in the BCS championship game, I'm here to offer an eye test.
Look at the facts, get over the regional bias and acknowledge that someone outside of Dixie might actually be good at football.
My friend Clay Travis, who runs the excellent SEC blog, "Outkick the Coverage," was the voice of SEC arrogance Sunday morning on Twitter. Quoth Clay: "Notre Dame will be destroyed by either Alabama or Georgia. Seventh best team in SEC. At best."
Let me repeat that I'm a fan of Clay's and enjoy his work, but this is ridiculous. Notre Dame may indeed lose the national title game, but I don't foresee a blowout and an Irish victory would not be an outlandish outcome (especially if the opponent is Georgia).
And anyone who believes Notre Dame would be the seventh-best team in the SEC needs to get out more.
[Related: Irish complete rise to prominence]
The gist of this argument is that the Irish could not have played anywhere near the schedule of an SEC team. Unfortunately, it's completely false. Here's the reality, stacking all 12 games on the Irish ledger alongside Alabama's and Georgia's and using the Sagarin Ratings as a measuring stick:
Best opponent played: Notre Dame hosted Stanford (eighth in Sagarin), Alabama hosted Texas A&M (seventh), Georgia played Florida (fourth) at a neutral site. The Irish and Bulldogs both won close games. The Crimson Tide lost at home. Most impressive of the three: Georgia.
Second-best opponent: Notre Dame visited Oklahoma (ninth). Alabama visited LSU (11th). Georgia visited South Carolina (10th). The Irish won by 17 points, the Tide won by four in the final minute, the Bulldogs lost by four touchdowns. Most impressive of the three: Notre Dame.
Third-best opponent: Notre Dame played USC (16th) on the road, never trailed and won by nine. Alabama played Michigan (20th) at a neutral site, never trailed and won by 27. Georgia hosted Vanderbilt (29th) and won by 45. Most impressive of the three: Alabama.
Fourth-best opponent: Notre Dame played Michigan (20th) at home and won by a touchdown. Alabama played Mississippi (33rd) on the road and won by 19. Georgia hosted Mississippi (33rd) and won by 27. All three won. Most impressive of the three: Notre Dame.
Fifth-best opponent: Notre Dame hosted BYU (37th) and won by three. Alabama hosted Mississippi State (36th) and won by 31. Georgia visited Missouri (43rd) and won by 21. All three won. Most impressive of the three: Alabama.
[Watch: Highlights from Notre Dame's victory over USC]
Sixth-best opponent: Notre Dame visited Michigan State (39th) and won by 17. Alabama visited Missouri (43rd) and won by 32. Georgia visited Tennessee (54th) and won by seven. Most impressive of the three: Notre Dame.
Seventh-best opponent: Notre Dame played Miami (52nd) on a neutral field and won by 38. Alabama visited Tennessee (54th) and won by 31. Georgia hosted Georgia Tech (63rd) and won by 32. Most impressive of the three: Notre Dame.
Alabama coach Nick Saban has won two of the SEC's six straight national titles.
Eighth-best opponent: Notre Dame hosted Purdue (62nd) and won by three. Alabama visited Arkansas (65th) and won by 49. Georgia visited Auburn (84th) and won by 38. Most impressive of the three: Alabama.
Ninth-best opponent: Notre Dame hosted Pittsburgh (66th) and won by three in triple overtime. Alabama hosted Western Kentucky (82nd) and won by 35. Georgia visited Kentucky (92nd) and won by five. Most impressive of the three: Notre Dame.
Tenth-best opponent: Notre Dame played Navy (73rd) at a neutral site and won by 40. Alabama hosted Auburn (84th) and won by 49. Georgia hosted Georgia Southern (99th) and won by 31. Most impressive of the three: Notre Dame.
Eleventh-best opponent: Notre Dame hosted Wake Forest (113th) and won by 38. Alabama hosted Florida Atlantic (127th) and won by 33. Georgia hosted Florida Atlantic (127th) and won by 36. Most impressive of the three: Notre Dame.
Worst opponent: Notre Dame visited Boston College (121st) and won by 15. Alabama hosted Western Carolina (204th) and won by 49. Georgia hosted Buffalo (135th) and won by 22. Most impressive of the three: Notre Dame.
Eight times out of 12, the Irish have had the most impressive performance when assessing comparable opponents. Notre Dame is 2-0 against the Sagarin top 10, whereas Alabama is 0-1 and Georgia is 1-1. Notre Dame is 4-0 against the Sagarin top 20, whereas Alabama is 2-1 and Georgia is 1-1.
So don't say the Irish haven't been seasoned by a schedule every bit as difficult – no, more difficult – than the SEC top dogs. And they've had far fewer games where they just had to show up to win. Irish have a better defense as most teams bama played good put up many points... Brian Kelly is a better coach.Google him and you will agree....The Irish are at the beging of many years of being good as the seniors go (most from x-coach recruiting ) we currently have the 4th ranked incoming class again look it up. Hate the Irish fine but dont continue to quote incorrect facts or correct facts based on one game like pitt...we won period..12-0

Notre Dame is getting many accolades for their defense BUT can we look at the resume before we compare their defense with Bama.
    1. USC..No Barkley and G'tech basically shut them down and G'Tech has no defense so not impressive.
    2.Wake Forrest...Garbage
    3. Boston College Absolute Garbage
    4. Pitt..Maybe the worst College QB in the nation and took a miracle to win.
    5. Oklahoma: Finess Team throws short passes no real running game good win on the road but oklahoma was exposed numerous times.
    6. BYU Great Defense but NO OFFENSE I mean ZERO.
    7. Stanford..Power football team built on Defense and running the ball.
    8. Miami..Their a complete mess this year we all can agree.
    9. Michigan: They were not as explosive all year ND did dominate them on the defense side but alabama played the same team and TOTALLY Smoked the same TEAM...Please make note.
    10. Mich St..Very good defense No pass threat no real team speed on offense.
    11. Purdue..LOL
    12. Navy..Played them before the stud freshmen was moved to qb and navy is not a powerhouse.
#2 Alabama in my mind is an entirely different animal than anything ND has faced all year on both sides of the ball. The ten mite look like a gift but just take a step back i would have like to see ND vs an LSU or Georgia or a spread attack to see if they are as good as people say. We will see Good Luck..

Beginning on the first full week of college FB season ( say 2nd week of Sept ), everyone makes 5 picks on the Covers contest.   5 picks every week until the week before the Army Navy game.  That is a big enough sample size to see who knows what.  I would like find out how much all you squares on Covers really know and if you can back up your big talk with picks.  So far, all i see and hear is tailers and posers and squares talking big after they know the final score or a few losers getting on a short term lucky streak.

If you think you can beat me in a straight up way, then bring it on.  I am tired of the cheap talk BS around here.

What will make Saban get off his game plan?  Hurry up offense and down the field pass plays by ND.  9.5 is a gift.  ND will control the clock against a weaker secondary.

FACT - 3 ND coaches have won National Championships in their 3rd year.  What year is Kelly in?  Go Irish.

I agree with you 100%.  That is way a lot of good cappers stopped posting their comments.  Right now, there is a lot of trash talk.  I hope COVERS could screen comments & bar unnecessary ones.

Lots of luck to all & happy capping.

Hey posters.....new to covers today...long time NCAA football better and working on learning NFL....not well I may add...lol
Record for year 106-82-4. So here's my take for what it's worth.

I got Bama in this game. ND just don't have the athletes to match with them yet. I think the game will be controlled in the lines. I can see this getting away from ND. The sec has controlled college football for years because of this. I've painfully been made aware of this in years past....ND has been slipping by all year and needs to be commended for it but I fear it ends now.... Just not enough nfl talent on that team. I hope best for all!
    Bama -9.5 and over

Notre Dame just simply don't belong here they are in way over their head and this game has blowout written all over it...
Look at the common opponent Michigan, Bama wins 41 to 14 (giving up 7 at garbage time) then ND squeaks it out 13 to 6 after Michigan turns the ball over 6 times ( 5 int and a fumble) then Stanford 3 to's, USC 3 three turn overs and the worst goal line play calling in the history of college football by that tool Lane Kiffen.. ND went to overtime with Pitt yes Pitt and had that kicker who now should be opening a restaurant with Sam Ficken that serves only lamb and call it "shanks" hit that chip shot we would have a much better game to watch on the 7th..
Q: what does ND and a bag of pot have in common??
A: they both get smoked in a bowl...
I have more also Irish but my battery on the laptop is dying..
I guess all those turnovers the Irish "created" don't much matter against those big bad boys from "Bama" huh? I'm amazed that ND is even mentioned in the same breath with Alabama, even though the Irish were winning championships when Alabama was still using a divining rod to find running water. I can't wait to see the post-game from $aban when the Irish hoist that trophy!
