T-Rev I agree with you 100%. The only reason I see OU being the dog is the fact that stoops has done poorly in BCS games, but other than that I honestly believe OU is on a whole different page. UF came out of the SEC by default, it wasn't a great conference this year!
Also, the fact its played in Florida. Im not saying there will be more Gator Fans at the game, but you better bet that the Gators will feel like its a home game playing in their own state. The atmosphere will be full of Gator fans come January. That could be a little reason why Vegas has given Florida an edge. But its not fooling me, the Sooners are the better team. In some eyes, im calling the upset. Go Bradford and Co. They are going to pick away and disect that defense. After that, its tough keeping up with the defense being worn down so badly.

ok, mattin6, trev, barnstorm, you all have good points. I've been on these threads off an on for about 3 yrs aned I can honestly say this is probably the most informative info that I've seen on a game. Trev, sorry dude for calling you out. I've been called out alot and I was continuing the cycle.
I'm kinda leaning on Trev's logic. Just imagine if Texas was playing against Flordia. Most would pick Florida, but in the same breath they would say "but Texas will give them a good game." Here is the problem...it's OU instead. and most agree (even Texas fans deep down if they think about it) that OU is the better of the 2 as of tod. Let's throw the should or shouldn't they belong over Texas controversey out the window. I admit, Florida didn't really impress me in that Sec title game, but then I haven't really watched Florida that much this year. their body of work is impressive though. and OU's pass rush is good. OU did harras the qbs for Ttech, OSU, and Mizzou with just rushing 4 and 5. A good pass rush is a good pass rush no matter who you play. PLus, it's not like the Big 12 is a weak conf, the Big 12 is mutually called the BEST CONF in college football by most analystys and fans for a reason. I'm still gunshy about betting on a team, but OU really isn't a true underdog. This isn't David v Goliath. It's more like Sampson v Goliath. Unless you really know alot about both teams,(I Don't know much....but I know OU) I would say take the Over/ Under.

I know I'll get flamed for saying it, but Bradford is a more accurate QB. And he will have time as JPW did. See I didn't say BETTER QB because obviously Tebow has the intangibles. But Tebow is not that accurate if there is any pressure at all
forget that. Bradford is the better qb. That's why Bradford is more than likely going to the NFL as a 1st round pick (probably the 1st or 2nd qb taken overall) while Tebow wil be lucky to get drafted in the 4th round (probably 5th) as a backup. Plus, let's not forget about that lil thing called the Heisman this Saturday. I can honestly say that here in Oklahoma the analysts are calling Sam Bradford the best qb in OU history. (and Jason White signed off on it). Story, Josh Huepel grades qbs after every game. After Bradford's 1st game, he gave Sam B a higher grade than he ever gave Paul Thompson. I know Paul Thompson wasn't a great qb.....but Thompson did lead OU to a Big 12 title win and a BCS bowl game. just somethin to think about I would say Bradford v Tebow is like Peyton Manning v Vince Young (at their peak in college).......but on a smaller scale

Yeah Bradford is the better qb hands down, I agree with u Barnstorm, n devin. One thing ppl are not looking at is pocket presence. Getting pressure on Tebow has spelled losses for him since he's been a starter.
UGA, Mich, Aurburn... Although all those losses came last year the fact is if you put pressure on Tebow he gets raddle and often makes bad mistakes. And who better to rattle Tebow than the number one pass rush in the country!
I've watched both teams a lot and honestly UF spreads have been so big bcuz of the type of offense they run. They control the clock and score fast therefore making opposing offense get out of their game plan and often resort to heavy passing resulting in turnovers. Thats one thing OU wont have to worry about. One thing ppl might want to pay attention to is how UF often sputtered in the redzone against BAMA and were relying on third down time after time to score. N the one game they lost against Ole Miss they were 1 for 11 on third down. This OU defense is faster sideline to sideline than the Bama and Ole Miss D, so a lot of those "lucky" third down passes wont happen if you ask me. Bama corners were getting exposed n burned all day. Look at how OU did such a good job on Crabtree and the TTech core, n Macklin n Mizzou core, who I believe are both better recievers than Harvin. And any time you can control the line with 4-5 guys like OU did against teams time after time you'll have success. That TTech O-line was the best in the country, Mizzou was suppose to put up pts on OU too with that weak D lol, so everyone thought! Call me crazy but I can't see UF getting more than 30 pts

Of course all of us that think OU will win, I have followed college football for a while now and one thing I kno is you can never be certain how a team will show up. So lets hope OU does what we kno they will and not make us look like fools!

Granted, there are a TON of angles to manufacture in for this game, but heres a tid bit of info.
Florida played Top 25 Teams 4 times this year: #6 Georgia #25 South Carolina #20 Florida State #1 Alabama Florida averaged 45.3 points against these teams.
Oklahoma played Top 25 Teams #5 Texas #16 Kansas #2 Texas Tech #12 Oklahoma State #20 Mizzou Oklahoma averaged 53.6 points against these teams
I would look at the defenses here, but really, Florida didnt play anybody with that great of offenses. Oklahoma did. IMO, Oklahoma has the edge in big games because they played a lot tougher teams in the big games. The SEC was down this year. The BIG 12 was and IS on the rise. I'm a huge SEC fan, but I can tell the difference between a weak conference and a tough conference, and the BIG 12 is a much better conference THIS YEAR. Oklahoma has the edge, I think they win, and they win comfortably.
You can criticize all you want or play Devil's advocate, I dont care. I am just putting my opinion about the game, not the opinion about how I think Im right and You're wrong.
GL Sir.
Yes and OU didn't play anybody with that great of a defense, maybe this is why they put up such huge numbers on offense. Florida played SC when they were ranked inside the top ten in total defense and after saturdays game against Bama, I don't think anyone can argue they are a top five defense if not 2 or 3 behind Southern Cal

There is not an offense in the SEC that Florida played that comes close to the offenses of OK, Texas, Texas Tech, Okie State, Missouri and even Kansas! Not even Georgia offense is as good as those Big 12 offenses. So this talk about the rank and stats of Florida's defense is nonsense.

And on the same token there is not a defense in the Big 12 that even comes close to the defense of Florida. Also I would put Floridas offense against any offense in the big 12. They are certainly on par with anyone in the big 12 and better than your texas tech, missouri, kansas and OK St offense for damn sure.

I agree that Florida's O is as good as most of the Big 12 Os. That wasn't my point. My point was that the Os that Florida's defense has had to face are not as good as those Big 12 Os.
Florida has never faced an O like Oklahoma's. Has Oklahoma faced a D like Florida's? Texas, TCU are on a par with Florida's D, maybe better and Oklahoma put up 45 on Texas and 35 on TCU. And they hung 52 on a good Cincinnati D.
But my final decision on this game is a no play or a play on the over 71.5.
I honestly think this game could go either way. If you played this game 10 times, they would split ATS. That's a no play in my book. Now if the line goes to 4+, then Oklahoma wins 6 times ATS and it may be worth a play.
But I think it would go over 71.5 7 or 8 times out of 10.

You're right, there are a ton of angles. First, you need to take Texas off the board there. Strength of schedule is predicated on teams beaten and OU did not win that game. Without Texas, OU has beaten one top 10 team and Florida has beaten two. I realize that by doing that OU's avg. ppg goes way up but here's another wrinkle. OU scored 38 points combined in the last half of the last quarter of the OSU and Mizzou game (thanks Pat Forde), clearly after said teams had given up. That's an average of 19 ppg. Where does OU's average go without factoring in those points? I only ask because, IMO, Florida will be able to a)keep the game closer and will therefore b)not be conceding the game late in the fourth quarter.
My point? This game reaks of the 2005 national title game. These two teams are the most evenly matched teams since that Rose Bowl. That game was billed as the best offense in the history of college football vs. a versatile offense led by an explosive playmaking QB and a one of the nations top defenses. Sound familiar? Don't be surprised if the outcome this year is the same as 2005. Defense wins championships, gentlemen, and I think we can all agree that Florida has the better defense.
I'm riding with Florida. Best of luck to all.

Floridas defense facing an offense as good as Oklahoma, I will 100 percent agree with. They havent all year, Oklahomas offense is as good as anyones in the country.
As far as your next point, you are off, Texas was the one who put up 45 on OU, and OU lost by ten. They put up 35 on both teams, all be it impressive to put up 35 on each, Texas hasnt proved themselves to be an excellent defense, and although TCU has, they play in the MWC, lets not go overboard on that. And if you seriously think that Texas has a better defense then Florida, shouldn't they be playing for the title instead of OU? After all, they did beat up on OU on a neutral field. However, this game is a tossup, I agree with you on that. But I do believe Florida will take it in the end. But if you do bet on this game either take Florida minus the points or take OU money line, this wont be decided by less than ten

And to be honest, Georgia's offense is better than the majority of offenses in the country. With the eventual #1 quarterback taken in the draft along with one of the top running backs that will be taken, I would put them up against anyone except possibly florida, OU, and Texas as one of the best offenses in the country

That's good stuff bro!
It's going to come down to turnovers. Both teams have the playmakers on defense...Oklahoma has more playmakers on offense, mostly due to their big TE Gresham, other skill players are a push. Not gonna touch this line!

I guess when it comes down to it the reason I'll pick OU is because:
This is the best team to ever be an underdog, at least in my lifetime. I don't even think 05 Texas is comparable as USC clearly had defensive problems the whole year and Texas was just the first team with enough offense to fully expose it. And u honestly can't convince me that UF is one of the best teams u've ever seen! Maybe one of the fastest but certainly not one of the best...

You need to look at one key factor here. FLA defense vs OU offense. OU has not played a D like this all year and will be woken up when they do. This game will come down to D and I will take FLA defense over OU´s any given day. Be smart. Yes its true OU puts up an avg of 55 points per game, but they also give up an average of 21 pts. OU will NOT score 55 against a goof UF D and by the same token you have to beleive FLA will score over the 21 pts OU have given up all year.
FLA 56
OU 28
The over is a lock and while UF is the smarter bet

It's funny how everyone was duped by the Big 12 this year! The best defense in the Big 12 is Texas and it ranks 65th nationally. 3 quarterbacks who racked it up on weak; very weak defenses.
Let's just sit back and let the game be played. If the SEC wins it's 3rd straight national championship will all of you SEC haters please stop and learn how to recruit athletes!
Thanks!

Colt McCoy is a 2A quarterback. Just so you know what that means in Texas High Schools are positioned by districts with enrollment, and class size.

5A Football and it has 2 divisions in 5A
Colt McCoy went to a 2A High School, but he put up a lot of points on far...far inferior talent. They have bulked him up and made him decent, but he is not good/great.
OU has major faults in loosing to this caliber of an athlete. I would not be surprised if Florida wins by 3 or 4 TDs.

4A Football
5A Football and it has 2 divisions in 5A
Colt McCoy went to a 2A High School, but he put up a lot of points on far...far inferior talent. They have bulked him up and made him decent, but he is not good/great.
OU has major faults in loosing to this caliber of an athlete. I would not be surprised if Florida wins by 3 or 4 TDs.
In a game like this discipline is half the battle!
I'm giving you guys good info, yet I still see ppl absolutely disrespecting OU
"Big game Bob" is back this year. Let's not forget WV ran the 3-3-5 defense last year, something OU never saw and Boise had to pull every trick out the bag. So UF better come up with a new playbook to win this one!

UF something like 116th...
OU something like 7th...

Ok so you want to talk rankings then lets talk about some that actually matter...
Defensive ranks in the nation: Okahoma = 57th
Florida = 5th
The best defense Oklahoma has seen all year is Texas who is 21st in the nation this year and lost at a neutral site by 10 points. Oklahoma has yet to meet a defense with the speed and coaching of Florida's and Bradford has yet to be pressured like he will in this game.
Offensive Ranks: Oklahoma = 1st
Florida = 3rd
Oh and im pretty sure Tebow was taken out of the game in the 4th quarter or earlier in every game this season except Ole Miss and Alabama and Bradford played until the end running up the score and his stats so that might even it out a little.
So we can base our bets on BIG BOB and Penalty rankings or on things that actually show which team is better. Ill take Florida over Oklahoma every time.
