Colt McCoy is a 2A quarterback. Just so you know what that means in Texas High Schools are positioned by districts with enrollment, and class size.

Colt McCoy went to a 2A High School, but he put up a lot of points on far...far inferior talent. They have bulked him up and made him decent, but he is not good/great.
OU has major faults in loosing to this caliber of an athlete. I would not be surprised if Florida wins by 3 or 4 TDs.
While I think Florida will win by 10-14 pts, I think you're calling out McCoy as not good/great is assinine. No, he only lead the team in rushing and rushing YPG - both figures better than Tebow and Bradford - all while having the best passing efficiency in the country.
Not to mention Texas was not expected to be in the Top-5, let alone not even be mentioned anywhere near the CG, at the beginning of the year (they were ranked #9 and #10 in the first polls). Tells you how much this kid has matured.

Moyhead I already talked about D earlier in this thread. As the Big 12 was loaded with offense what do you expect defensive numbers to be. On the other side SEC offenses were absolutely horrible this year giving way to UF being "9th" defensively in total yards.
1)There are 6 Big 12 offenses that rank in the top 20
2)UF is the only one in the SEC "18th", and only 3 rank in the top 50
3)On defense Bama ranks 3rd, Tenn 4th... Both above UF... South Car 11th, Miss 14th... Means nothing
When you face top offenses your defensive numbers will be a little off, the only way you can truly know a defense is by watching them. Now penalties on the other hand, doesn't matter who you're playing they're penalties. Here's a stat:
OU gave up an avg of 24 ppg in a conference where only 4 out of 12 teams avg under 30 ppg.
UF gave up only 12.85 ppg(commendable), but 7 SEC teams avg under 23ppg 5 of which UF played.
It is clear that numbers don't tell the whole truth my friend and the only way 2 know a d is by watching it. And please know that if you call me out I'll be able to back up my points! By the way where did you get your numbers? BOL to you still...

And I'm not basing my bet off Big game Bob i just threw that out there. I must say I feel disrespected by your comments when I listed plenty of good reasons in this thread I'm backing OU... Also TCU is probably the best D OU saw.

Yeah, if I go by this I would have to take the over. I'm leaning more towards betting on OU than I am the over. I thought this SB with the pats and Giants would be high scoring, but it wasn't. Maybe FLorida's D makes this a chess match with a lower than expected point total. Plus OU's D isn't shabby either. I see alot of trash talking by SEC fans about the Big 12's D. NEWSFLASH: don't be a moron. teams like Ttech and Mizzou may be lacking on D compared to the SEC. Get a clue SEC homers. OU isn't Ttech or Mizzou. OU isn't even OSU or Texas. yeah, I'm calling out Texas too. OU is another level compared to all of their big 12 counterparts, so the theory of "you don't play against good D" can kinda be overated at best. Ex. look at the 90's Nebraska Cornhuskers. I remember people saying back then...."Oh those Big 12 teams can't compete with the SEC or Big 10 (yeah, Big 10, specifically Penn State with Kerry Collins". Plus Nebraska plays a weak Non Conf schedule and Big 8. Educated fans know what happened with that logic. Nebraska whipped up on a SEC Florida in a Natl title game and became probably the best college team of the 90s. My point? you might want to do your research when you handicap this game and actually confer with people who have actually seen OU play. Ovearll, it's very misleading to use the Tebow logic of "I wish I could play against Big 12 Defenses..." How many times has this been disproven of Conference A is so much better than Conf B? Look at the NBA. The East conf was trash, but Detroit didn't know that when they beat LA in 2004. Hint: you might want to handicap Team A v Team B....rather than SEC blah blah blah is so much better than ......than the Big 12.

You're getting it now my friend... Sometimes the best way to become a good capper is by turning off sportscenter! I do hate that Bradford won the heisman becuz the winner has lost their bowl games as of recent. That was bcuz the winners were sometimes undeserving in my opinion. However I think that curse will be broken this year, Sam Bradford is the truth. If I were Stoops I'd take it from him and hide it until after the game...

Yes since Troy Smith winning was one of the biggest landslides in heisman history, however he was clearly undeserving

It would be nice to see 100 pts in the championship game, and finally, the odds are with us. It would also be nice to see the SEC take it again for the third year in a row, But OK Defense is too much for Florida and the BIG 12 is the stronger of the two this year. Once OK gets a couple three and outs from Tebow, its over. Florida, very impressive finish to the year, and probably the hottest team in the nation, but I dont see OK's offense ever being stopped.
GL to ALL - this will be a great game to watch until OK puts up 21 in a row and runs away with it. Jump on that
Ok, I'm a diehard OU fan. and this point prediction of OU whipping up on Florida is just wel....ridiculous. How long have you been watching football....this year? I'm being serious. I love OU. I've been watching every OU game since 95 (except for those on pay per view or when I was high out of my mind, but in general). wait, you must be under the influence with this prediction. I'm torn. I'm happy with either team winning. I picked Florida in preseason to win it all, and I would like to see my prediction juice true. But OU....well, it's OU nuff said. Florida isn't like these Big 12 teams that just roll over by the 3rd quarter. remember OU v OSU when OSU actually put a scare into OU? Florida is about 40% better than a team like OSU and has a much better Defense. people here in Oklahoma are running scared thinking about the Tebow Tubesteak special being rammmed down their throats. I've never seen two evenly matched teams in my life.
I wouldn't be surprised to see an upset. this game kinda reminds me of the 2005 game with Texas and USC. I remember USC being touted pretty highly then and thinking.....USC might be better...but not 7 points better.
I agree with the 1st poster. take the over and hope for the best.
not a big 12 defense not going to score 62 either

Agreed, n Tebow, no one with 3 regular season losses should ever win Heisman I don't care how good he is( if you're not going to include winning should have just gave it to Mcfadden who set SEC rushing records as a "RUNNING BACK"). N Jason White way back for the 2003 sooners I believe, who played 2 letdown games in a row.

Granted, there are a TON of angles to manufacture in for this game, but heres a tid bit of info.
Florida played Top 25 Teams 4 times this year: #6 Georgia #25 South Carolina #20 Florida State #1 Alabama Florida averaged 45.3 points against these teams.
Oklahoma played Top 25 Teams #5 Texas #16 Kansas #2 Texas Tech #12 Oklahoma State #20 Mizzou Oklahoma averaged 53.6 points against these teams
I would look at the defenses here, but really, Florida didnt play anybody with that great of offenses. Oklahoma did. IMO, Oklahoma has the edge in big games because they played a lot tougher teams in the big games. The SEC was down this year. The BIG 12 was and IS on the rise. I'm a huge SEC fan, but I can tell the difference between a weak conference and a tough conference, and the BIG 12 is a much better conference THIS YEAR. Oklahoma has the edge, I think they win, and they win comfortably.
You can criticize all you want or play Devil's advocate, I dont care. I am just putting my opinion about the game, not the opinion about how I think Im right and You're wrong.
GL Sir.
offense is only one side of the game. what were the averages of the defensive totals.Florida rolls. Like i said in the SEC championship game RILEY COOPER COMES THROUGH HUGE. I'd like to see him do the same in this game.
Harvin is back Okla will study him more than Fla. underrated receivers such as RILEY COOPER.
Florida wins by 13

This game will be won in the trenches, which makes my pick an easy one here. The Sooners offensive front is massive, they will beat on that gator defensive front throughout this contest.
On the flip side you have 2 elite DT's on the Sooner front line,
McCoy and Granger, throw in sack man DE English and this has the makings of a Big 12 upset over the SEC. The dog will be barking in the BCS Championship tilt.
OKLAHOMA - 31 FLORIDA - 24
SOONERS +3 UNDER 71.5
GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE CAPPERS, WISH EVERYONE A HEALTHY AND HAPPY NEW YEAR. HOPEFULLY ALL THE HATCHETS HAVE BEEN BURIED AND WE ARE ALL BACK FOR ANOTHER PROFITABLE 2009 SEASON.

Oklahoma was #1 in the country and piling on the points well before they played Texas on a neutral field and LOST by 10 points, so I wouldn't be buying into the Oklahoma hype, either. Oklahoma's defense is good, but definitely not great. Their offense is monstrous just as long as they don't play against someone with a decent defense, like Texas and TCU. TxTech, OSU, and Mizzou are NOT great defenses.
But even ignoring all those things, the one issue that looms is Stoops' post-season woes of late. His teams are 0-4 in the last four, including several (all?) in which they were favored to win. This tells me the coaching staff may not be doing what it takes to get the troops ready to play in January.

But even ignoring all those things, the one issue that looms is Stoops' post-season woes of late. His teams are 0-4 in the last four, including several (all?) in which they were favored to win. This tells me the coaching staff may not be doing what it takes to get the troops ready to play in January.
Arkansas had either 3 or 4 losses last year, so there goes your argument against Tebow

Good point, regarding OU being 0-4 their last 4 BCS bowls. But you want to review why and how.
1) Look at who they played. When the streak started in 2004 with LSU....it was LSU in Louisiana. Very few teams would have beat LSU that day with LSU's stout D. Also, Jason white and Co were expecting a certain kind of D based on Tape of LSU, but instead (according to Jason White and Bob SToops) encountered something totally different.
2) USC in 2005: I had OU winning this big time, but USC was just a great team. OU had a player muff a punt early and then the shenanigans began. it didn't help with Larry Burdine giving bulletin board material with calling Matt Leinart overated (which was true in the NFL, but apparently not that day)
3) Oregon in 2006: (non BCS game) OU won this game. But you wouldn't know it with all of the OU detractors
4) : Boise State in 2007: if you remember, OU wasn't even supposed to be in a BCS game anyway. I remember a friend betting on OU to win the Big 12, but then Rhett Bomar got kicked off the team before the season even started. Paul Thompson wasn't even a qb in the fall, but was put back as qb. Paul Thompson did good enough to get OU into the Big 12 title game and win...let alone a BCS bowl game.
5) West Virginia in 2008: this was just some shameful shyt. no excuses here, but bad coaching all the way around
For those that don't watch OU regularly be careful about using OU's past 5 bowl games as an excuse or the 0-4 theory. OU did win 1 of those last 5 bowl games. oh, and yes I know Demarco Murray won't be playing....but that won't slow down the Sooner Expresss. Demarco isn't Adrian Peterson so it's not like OU can't sub in Kris Brown and Moses Madu. I know I've got more excuses for OU than Barry Switzer did with their late 80's scandal, but I'm just laying out what happend.
