U Mass playing pretty good ball of late...keeping most of their games close this year...not bad for a team that was everyone's doormat last year..Akron looked ugly vs Buffalo last week...Umass might pull the upset here...gimme UMASS whatever the line might be

Got UMASS at +7

They're W/L record might not look too good but they've been covering spreads very well. Also watched that Akron game last week, and UMASS looked a lot better against a better team. Wouldn't be surprised by a UMASS upset here.

UMass did it last week and is now 8-2 ats.  They actually looked pretty dominating.  I will gladly take the 7 here.

UMass + 7.5 Over Akron!    

Agree with all above on UMass...and key statement about UMass able to "keep games close". Five out of six UMass losses were by 7 points or less!  And Akron now 2-8 vs. spread in their last 10 games!

Minutemen 8-2 "straight up"....and those two losses were against much bigger guns of Penn State and BC!  Will look for QB Blake with no less than 23 TDs and 3,345 YDs to put up enough points to keep this one within a touchdown!

UMass + 7.5 (must buy 1/2 point in case Akron wins by a TD) Over Akron!   3 Units!

UMass have been covering 6 games straight, on the opposite Akron have not in the last 6!
Statistically UMass are better in all departments.
Why Akron are -7 better?   Trap?
I'll bite the bullet and go with UMass!

Umass QB Blake Frohnapfel is DOUBTFUL for this game.  Coach says he is a game-time decision.  If he cannot go, red-shirt Frosh Austin Whipple, son of Umass coach Mark Whipple, will get the nod.

Blake Fronhnapel being out is a serious issue. Hes their best player. UMASS will annouce his availability before the game, but after watching his injury, it was bad enough for him to be carted off
Shadrach Abrokwah, starting RB,  is also Doubtful
Dont know why COVERS isnt showing these crucial injuries
Maybe they want people to unknowingly bet on UMASS

according to the local media in the area the red shirt is about a 90% go for tonight. was on umass with the over but with true freshman at the helm and a bleak weather report calling for strong winds and snow.gotta lean akron and under now. would like to hear from the covers resident weatherman in thailand, that guy is always on point with his weather LOL.

Make no mistake, however; Frohnapfel is the key to the Minutemen offense, coming into the game with a whopping 3,345 passing yards - good for fourth in the nation - and 23 touchdowns through the air. But a right leg injury may keep him out against the Zips, who were torched 55-24 by the Buffalo Bulls last week and have allowed 140 points over the course of their losing skid. It's the final home game of the season for Akron, which is 3-2 at InfoCision Stadium.

Akron has absolutely quit for Bowden. I watched them against buffalo defensively they had no interest in tackling. They allowed Buffalo yes Buffalo to march up and down on them. UMASS QB not playing is huge. He had that offensive moving on all MAC teams. Horrible game to handicap an Akron team that looks like they have quit on their coach vs a team without the QB who has played all snaps this year. If Fronhnapel was playing line would probably have UMass favorite but I'm gonna  lay the 6.5 small and hope Akron decides to put one last game together. BoL

so I have been waiting to see where this moves to now that its at 7.5 pretty clear indication that some people know that someone is not playing should drop back to 7 briefly will try to get it there if not will buy the half point gl going with under as well but will wait still think you could get under 47 closer to game time.

This was posted on the Umass website yesterday in regards to QB status

On progress after Blake Frohnapfel's injury:
"I saw him this morning and he's a little better. Every day he's gotten a little better and moving around. We'll see what he's like tomorrow, but we don't want to risk any further damage with his leg, but it's not bothering him anywhere near as much."

Well with all the reports of UMASS having no 1st string QB or RB...its looking like an ugly low scoring game. I see more punts in this game than pts, lol. With that being said gimme UMASS w/Coach's son as QB and the under.

So if it's cold, snowy and windy, both teams would need more of a ground game no? That actually would help UMass then I would think, as neither quarterback would be too effective thru the air.

cold and snow  do not hinder a QB actually help as the patterns will be short and fast. Has a downside for defense as now they have to anticipate and re-act instead of act. will also make for a good ground game for both teams.
again tuesday night prime time TV, guys will be going balls to the wall

OVER 47 all day......snow, sleet, hail, rain cold bring it on.

there will be no snow and jjjams is correct cold is irrelevant I should of just said the wind gusts which are still pretty strong. with one qb who is not too good to begin with and another making his first start with limited playbook hoping it leads to lots of runs and missed field goals.
