I was looking into his carreer. Why he is getting so much attention. Is he really that great? Has he proved himself to be the guy to lead them past a top notch defense like Ohio St. I beg to differ, I would like to hear from some who know a little more about him.
But here is what I found: (games he actually played long enough to look at stats)
His best game last year was against Notre Dame, come on I could have played well against Notre Dame last year.
he played Arizona in October = 54.5 QB Rating
he played oregeon in November = 79 Qb Rating
Both games he threw two ints. and a total of three td's combined.
this year he played Virginia which sucks donkey balls.
QB Rating 121 = much improved but yet he threw 3 td's and 1 intereception
Do people really think he steps up in national spot light against a secondary like Ohio St. and performs well?
This reminds me of the Texas, Ohio St game. Colt McCoy could not handle the pressure and the outcome OHIO ST big underdog winner. But yet he was getting all the attention.
Please let me know if I am missing something here.
Sanchez has not been tested in regular season game but even worse a BIG NATIONAL " GAME OF THE CENTURY" atmosphere???

OSU, I am from Ohio and all. I am not too worried about their performance against Ohio, chalk it up to them looking ahead to USC, and Ohio playing as hard as possible against what they probably perceived as the "Evil Empire".
The defense played well, Ohio's only scores came on a fumble in the endzone, and a drive by Ohio with some circus 3rd down conversions. Their offense was definitely ugly, especially not running the ball well. Even without Beanie, they have enough good running backs they still should have rolled over Ohio.
Everyone has a bad day against inferior competition sometimes, just look at USC-Stanford last year. Hoping the line continues to move up which I think it will, given what OSU did in that last game and what USC did to Virginia two weeks ago.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DRINKING?GIVE UP THE PIPE,MAN.So.Cal is gonna beat Ohio States ass the same way it beats up on the rest of the big ten's ass and the same way it kicked arkansas ass, auburn ,V.Tech and the beat stays the same against this slow footed defense and slow footed offense. The speed and the size that SC is gonna bring is gonna give the buckeyes Florida and LSU flashbacks. The trojans aint gonna lose in they're house and once they get going and wearing down the buckeyes, the score.......name it!!!

I have to say I thought the line would be lower. I think people are making too big of a deal about the Ohio game. How often do teams look ahead? That seems to be what happened to the Buckeyes. They were clearly overconfident, and why wouldn't they be?
Does anyone know the actual status on Beanie Wells? Tressel is clearly playing the injury pretty close to his vest. It is a big factor in the game, because Wells can pound the ball, burn some clock and keep USC's offense off the field.
I can't say I'm sold on Sanchez either. He looked good against a questionable VA team, but didn't look so hot against a well-coached Stanford team last year. Ohio St is talented on defense and with a good game plan may be able to get a couple stops.
The main question is whether or not SC can get out to an early lead. OSU doesn't seem to be built to come from behind and they don't have the QB/receivers to make explosive plays.
As much as I want to take those points with a good team like Ohio St, all I can think about is some of the drubbings SC has put on visiting, non-conference, highly regarded foes in the colliseum in recent years. As of now, this one has to be a no-bet for me, but I know this game is going to show up in my weekly pool this afternoon, and I am going to have to pick a side.
I'm hoping for a good game, and I would like to see Sanchez be as good as some of you guys are saying. I'm not a big SC or Pac 10 fan, but there is nothing better than watching Pete Carrol coach one of those well-oiled machines he brings in.
Believe in the Ohio game chief.I have espn 360 and I have replayed that game over and over.Ohio State is really trying to win ,thats they're team in all its glory.Thats all they bring to the table.Do the work on SC and you'll come up with the winner and the winner is So Cal.Dont waste your money on those overhype turtles which are the buckeyes, because when its all said and done, thats all they'll be is buckedeyed when they get a look at all that SC speed.

The more I think about this game, the more appetizing 10.5 sounds. Yeah, I remember LSU and I remember Florida. I bet OSU against Florida and I talked myself out of betting LSU. USC is USC, and I understand that, but they aren't the SEC. This USC team at this point in the season is not as good as the LSU team that beat OSU. This OSU team is improved. That defense has another year together under the belt and Boeckman... well, Boeckman is what he is. I am going to wait to hear reports on Beanie Wells, take them with a grain of salt, and hope that line doesn't move down to 10, or even 9.5, which I think it may. I hope enough people are in agreement with you all to keep my line from moving down. Good Luck.
WHAT!!!Hey man you should not bet on anything!!!

This is the easiest game on the board.ITS RECRUITING!!Pete Carroll is a very smart coach and he sets up these kind of games for that reason only.Thats why he tunes with a decent opponent in they're house, get a bye, prepare for the slaughter of a conference he knows he's gonna slam.In this case its the slow footed big ten conference. What better team than the overhyped lose to speed everytime,Ohio State buckeyes. It will not be close, trust me gentlemen and ladies,it will not be close.Climb on board the gravy train folks.Easy money So.Cal-10.

two things about the ohio state/texas game you bring up..
1. it was colt mccoy's freshman year.. sanchez is a junior..
2. ohio state was only a 3 point underdog
sanchez has game experience against one of the best teams in the Pac-10 last year, oregon.. and i'm pretty sure that game had a "big game atmosphere".. it was in the middle of the Pac-10 season, with conference title implications.. don't forget his game against virgina was on the road.. like so many people like to say, including myself, west coast teams going to the east coast generally don't do well.. if you need an example, look at cal going to tennessee two years ago..

i'll be honest... i was almost crying while i watched the OSU - Ohio game last week... i came into that game wanting to see what they were made of, and pretty sure i was going to bet on USC after seeing what they did to Virginia...
with every pathetic looking play, with every Ohio run for 12 yards, with every Ohio St misqueue, i felt like money was flying out the window... basically, i saw the line moving and moving and moving until there was no value in it anymore... i didn't think there was anyway anyone could watch that game and not see what i was seeing... plain as the nose on their face...
luckily, i was wrong...
still happy with my (-9.5)!

My guess is that if Ohio played Virginia it would be a fairly close game. I'm not saying you're wrong, but just because you watched USC-VA twice doesn't mean they played two games. Consider the fact that Virginia only returned a total of 11 starters from last year, one of the fewest in the nation. Their other game was a 16-0 win over Richmond. Take away a pick-six and it would be 9-0. (For some perspective, Richmond plays Towson this weekend, and before UVA they played Elon. Ever heard or either school?)
Latest reports out of Columbus say Wells has been practicing, and seems to be at about 75% right now.
There's also a lot of quotes from USC with the old cliche of how this is 'just another game." This ain't no JAG, and you can bet those quotes are all over the OSU locker room.
I still am agnostic here, just think that someone needs to play devil's advocate since everyone is all over a USC romp. It's rarely that easy.

All summer I told myself that I would bet a load on Ohio State if the line in this game was more than 7. But after watching OSU last week, and now knowing Wells is either not going to play, or will be limited, I just cannot pull the trigger.
My original thinking was OSU would be great defensively and could hold anyone to a low scoring game. We all knew OSU players and fans had been ridiculed for two years, and would be tired of hearing how they couldn't win the big one. After seeing OSU for two games, I now don't think they are athletic enough to play with power schools outside the Big 10/11.
The only thing that keeps me from recommending a strong play on USC is the intensity OSU will bring to this game. Lose it, and they are out of the Orange Bowl. No way polls or fans will allow them into the BCS finale with a loss in their only OOC test. Everyone has seen enough of that. A one loss Big 12 or SEC team would definitely get the nod over OSU with a loss Saturday, plus, who would want a rematch if USC makes it into the top 2 (and you have to think they will given their schedule after OSU.)
USC has still only beaten a VERY weak Virginia team, so they aren't a lock to go unbeaten in the PAC 10 as ASU, ORE, and Cal could give them a loss. My bet is USC wins this one, and willl cover. I will make a one unit play on USC just to make it more interesting to watch. I still think OSU will give a greater effort, they just don't have the best team. If they get down, it could be a romp, but I am saying USC by 10-17 points.

Looks like Wells is not really 75% at all, and in fact may not play. That -10.5 is looking pretty good right now, and in fact has already moved to -11.5. It'll probly go higher.

Beanie is out... so therefore I am too. I respect OSU's defense, but how long can it hold up. Without Beanie pounding the ball it is going to be tough to keep Sanchez, McKnight and company off the field.
Bigdaddy, what are you laying in the first half? I think OSU may be able to run with them for a little while. It is the second half that I am worried about. And we have all seen Tressel's half time adjustments (OR LACK THEREOF) in the past. If Sanchez gets into a comfort zone going into the second half, or SC has momentum on their side, watch out. Todd Boeckman, well he doesn't appear to have a comfort zone.
I am expecting huge huge huge things from Mr. McKnight this Saturday a la the Rose Bowl.
It is a scary thought to wonder who will beat SC if Sanchez reaches his potential this weekend.

Anyone hear Brent Mussburger's take on the injury? He said that Tressel told media before the buckeyes departed to L.A. that Beanie would be "doubtful, If the game were to be played today." Meaning Thursday. He also said that the only clear advantage to Southern Cal is their passing game, and to expecta tight game to the wire.
