The analysis on this thread stinks so far. While Utah has the better defense they have had games this year where they gave up huge yards and points. Last game at UC, they gave up 400+ yards and 34 points. This is not the same traditional Utah defense that has dominated in years past.
I see both teams offenses playing well enough to get the over, and this could be a shoot out.

CSU defense has major holes as well as there Offensive line has trouble in pass protection. Utahs dline is a major strength and can be living in the back field all day. Utah playing in Pac 12 has seen all top tier offenses and has played well and in my opinion if they flipped schedules Utah mite be undefeated and CSU barely bowl eligible. I just hope Utah is motivated enough but Utah 27 CSU 17

Agreed that CSU has holes on D but too much credit is going to the UTAH defense. This is a defense that gives up 400+ yards per game and, as I stated before, allowed Colorado to put up 34 points. I certainly think that a team with a QB that has almost 4,000 yards passing, a 1200 yard rusher and a receiver with 1600 yards/17 TD's/18.7 yards per catch will be able to points on the board.
Their schedule is not a juggernaut but they did go in to BC and put up 430 yards and 24 points. I think it's a folly to say that CSU is going to be manhandled on offense in this game. Their are too many weapons on this CSU to ignore

there is an argument to be made that Utah's defense has been overrated I do agree with that as evident in their last 2 games against colorodo and Arizona. I've watched a lot of CSUs games this year and was profitable betting on them. They have played a pitiful schedule as the MW was awful this year plus a big letdown loss to Air Force and now the loss of the head coach. In my opinion its a lot to ask to go and beat a well rested Utah team with a coach that might not be great in the x's and o's but he will have them ready to play. BoL

Looks pretty clear cut Colorda State is the better team, i understand Utah plays in the sack 12 but they have been out gained almost every game this year and its not even close,
Colorado State ML Bank on it

Agree watched smallish AF with little depth manhandled. Obvious loss of the HC but a championship and a better bowl bid was at stake IMO doubtful they care more about this game.

"Keys to this Utah team are its burly nature, defensive toughness, and outstanding special teams. Redshirt juco RB Devontae Booker banged for 1350 yards. Whittingham’s ultra-aggressive 4-3 defense rotates 8-10 players up front with great effectiveness, leading the nation in sacks with 52. Nate Orchard had 17½ and received the Ted Hendricks Award as the country’s top DE. Jr. Tom Hackett won the Ray Guy Award as the top punter, dropping 19 inside the 10 yard-line. PK Andy Phillips has a powerful leg and converted 22 of 26 FGs. (CSU kicker Jared Roberts hit only 11 of 18). Electric frosh WR Kaelin Clay returned 3 kickoffs and one punt for TD.
Although not necessarily a margin team this year (the Utes won five games by 6 points or fewer), they hold a massive OPR edge in this game, playing a list of foes an average of 13.3 points tougher than those faced by the Rams. Utah, 13-4 all-time in bowls, has been one of the premier postseason performers in recent years, going 10-1 its last 11 bowl games!(Whittingham 7-1 SU; 6-2 vs. the spread)"

Normally I look for the underdogs during the early bowl games. But this game I won't even look at the stat sheet. I think the last place team from the PAC 12 could beat the champ from the WAC, I mean the Mountain West.
Utah
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL

That Bc game says a lot! This team went cross country and beat a team that smacked USC.They are familiar with each other, because they both played in the Mountain West for years.I look for Colorado to get on the map with a key wins vs Bc and this one for future recruiting recognition. They will be prepared+Utah could be disapointed in this particular bowl and not a bigger one.

I've made alot of money on the Utes this year. they are not a sexy public team, but they cover every week. Colorado st. lost there head coach to Florida, that does matter. Utah has played Real football teams in the Pac12. Colorado st. schedule says it all. And, Utah has one of the best D-lines in the country, and one of the best running games too. This one may be close for 2 qtrs. but Utah will wear them down.
Rule of thumb when betting on bowl games. Pick the team that comes from the better conference.
If CSU thinks Utah is here to pick daisies and read poetry its gonna be a long day for the Rams.
my pick: Utah Utes -2.5
risk: $110
win:$100

If MW conference UNR is any indication on how these teams are in their conference, then CSU should get smoked by Utah. Any kind of Defense should stop Colo St. UNR only scored 3 points against ULL. Really ?

CSU only scored 16 against a good Utah St D. They may be lucky to score 10 against a better Utah Utes team. Under the play.
