16 team league. Over a grand to the winner. 6 Pts for passing TD's and 1 point for every 20 Passing Yards. Rest is standard scoring. I drafted 9th and this is who I ended up with.
QB Freeman
RB Mendenhall
RB Moreno
WR R. White
WR. Manningham
TE Gronkowski
K. Matt Bryant
D/ST Tampa
Bench
Malcom Floyd
Micheal Bush
Mike Williams(SEA)
Delone Carter
Lance Moore
Thomas Jones
Any thoughts on it? Suggestions? Ideas for trades? I thought I did pretty good. Everyone panicked and went QB early as soon as Rodgers came off the board at 8th overall. Something like 7 QB's went in the first two rounds. I was loving it. I got Freeman in round 5.

Not much advice but damn 16 team league is massive...BOL
Oh, Freeman at QB would have me a little worried
Freeman was the 9th ranked QB in most formats last year, so personally I wouldn't be too worried about that (especially with 16 teams in the league).
I've never played in such a deep league (12 teams the most) so my feedback might not mean as much.
Mendenhall and White picking 9th... like both of those (I would like that in a 12 team league). I would've liked a better 2nd RB (someone like Bradshaw or Blount) but I'm sure those guys were gone so Moreno will have to do and Manningham could have a huge year so like that for 2nd WR.
Like I already stated, I am high on Freeman (won a league that I drafted for a friend last year and we played Freeman most of the year). I would've liked to get a better backup RB (Jackson, Greene, Tolbert, Lynch) but again those guys could've been gone at this point so Bush and Jones will have to do. Floyd, Moore, and Williams could be decent fill ins also in such a deep league.
Overall I would say that's a pretty good team in a 16 team league.

It's pretty crazy. It was a 3+ hour long draft. I've never done it either but I was really happy with it. I game planned my first 6 rounds and wrote down a few guys I thought would be there for me in each round. That's what led me to Freemon in the 5th. He was really the best value on the board at that point.
I was soooooo close to getting Bradshaw. He actually went 1 or 2 spots ahead of me. So bummed about that one.
One thing I do need is a back up QB. Then only two starters left in FA are TJax and Hasselback. I may just pick up Hasselback for Freemon's bye week. I honestly recommend 16 team leagues though. It's a big thought process for drafting, strategy, trades(since you don't really want to trade within your division). It's just like real football. 4 divisions, each div winner gets in the playoffs regardless of record. I'm excited.
Thanks for the insight guys.

By no means is Freeman a bad qb but for some strange reason he is just one of those guys that I for unknown reasons am afraid to pull the trigger on...But yeah for a 16 team league your team looks fairly solid. I too, am only familiar with 12 team leagues and draft strategies so my advice may mean nothing. Had Moreno last year and he is definitely an injury threat so keep that in mind!

I know Moreno is a risk but I like his potential because John Fox can barely spell "Passing Game". With that being said John Fox is an idiot and shouldn't be a coach except maybe at the h.s. level. Moreno was the best back on the board at the time though. He was my 4th pick which makes him like the 54th player taken(somewhere in that area, my math is bad).
I'm trying to look for a trade for another RB to replace him and Marshawn Lynch's owner has put him on the trade block. I don't think I would want to trade any other starter for him though so I don't think I will be seeking him.

That bench is suspect as hell. Those 16 man leagues must be some cut throat shit.
It's nuts. It's a must to go RB early. Everyone went QB early and you should see some guys starting RB's. I'm telling you, Moreno and Mendenhall might be the second or third best starting backfield in the league. The bench is always a crapshoot in leagues this deep. I was able to land Mike Williams in the last round before K and D/ST. I'm curious to see how he does and I'm anxious to see what happens with Delone Carter. He is one injury to Joseph Addai away from potentially being the sleeper of the year. Then again, a few guys fit that description.

Ktrain, I posted questions about Darren McFadden and Michael Turner in another thread...what are your thoughts on these players and where would you draft them? What kind of numbers do you see coming from these 2? Obviously both are very solid backs but just not sure how to rank them in the RB category...I am in a 12 man NON PPR league.

For a league that size his bench is far from terrible. Overall he did a pretty solid job.
Would've liked to see a little better 3rd RB but things get tough in a 16 team league. Did you not take a 2nd QB? That's something you have to do in a league this size, especially without an elite starter. Not too sure about that Tampa D thing but it's a defense so who the hell knows.

I would refer to blstuart's top 25 list(he updated RB I believe). I actually printed off his Top 25's for WR, QB, and RB and used them as a reference guide as the draft went on(Thanks!!!! btw blstuart). He is way more knowledgeable about this stuff than I am. I'm an action junky.
However since you asked I wouldn't take either of them until Mendenhall and McCoy were off the board. I'm not huge on either. Late first round/early second round but quite honestly I would pass on either unless they fell to me in the late teens. There is some decent talent at RB if you pass them up. Blount and Bradshaw would be examples. You could probably get them in the 3rd round of standard 12 team leagues.
You have to remember that human nature plays a part of drafts as well. It's like Mike Tyson said "everyone has a game plan until they get punched in the mouth"(I think that was Tyson).
Everyone has a game plan but once people see Vick or Rodgers come off the board they panic and reach for a QB. It happened in my league last night. Vick went 4th, Rodgers 8th, and before you knew it 6 or 7 QB's were gone by the start of the 3rd round.
Personally I loved it. Once I saw that I knew I could wait even longer on guys like Stafford, Freemon, even Big Ben went later than he should have.
Sorry I'm rambling now. I just find the draft such an interesting process now. The deeper the league the more interesting.

Yes I agree I do need a second QB. Hasselback and TJax are still there. Tebow is off the board. Was thinking about getting Hasselback. What do you think? Maybe even Vince Young? Not really sure about that one though. Next question is who do I drop?
I would love to land a 3rd running back but RB is so shallow in a 16 team league that I wouldn't be able to get anyone without giving up a starter. I'm not sure how that would benefit me. Maybe I could move Manningham but I don't think I would get enough in return to justify it.
I think this league will be stagnant til the first injuries happen. When needs develope people will become desperate and agree to bad deals. I just hope i'm on the right side of the injury bug. I think Floyd and Moore will become more valuable if a few WR's go down or aren't productive enough.

Oh yeah and Defense is a crap shoot in my book. I trade out D's and K's like baseball cards throughout the year. I still never understand why people draft or hold two D's or K's or even TE's for that matter.

I'd pick up Hasselbeck. He's a pretty safe bet to start all season in Tennessee as long as he stays healthy.

So who would you suggest I drop? I guess the obvious choice would be Carter. I'm just scared that Addai gets hurt getting out of bed one morning and I lose out on him in FA. This league is no joke. People watch games with the FA window open and as soon as someone goes down his back up is snatched up.
Last year I grabbed Brandon Jackson before they had Ryan Grant carted off the field and I barely beat out another guy to get him.
Carter it is though.

16 Teams is VERY deep. I feel like this is a very solid squad going that deep into rosters. Freeman is obviously not an Elite QB, but he should end up in the top 10-12 without question, but no backup QB???
