It has been an interesting group play stage in the World Cup, so who do you pick to win the whole thing?
I like Belgium to win it all. They were able to give players a rest today and still beat England that in fairness rested some of their key players. i think they have the best D left in tournament and Lukaku is a big game changer. They are solid everywhere.
I agree that it is extremely tough to even pick a game. I just don't think Brazil or Argentina have the game to win it all. Neymar hurt and playing at a level well below his best and Argentina probably shouldn't have made it through and have never looked like the Argentina of old. One thought though is if Messi still has a couple gears and plays like Messi they are dangerous. Uruguay has a very tough match to start the knock out stage with Portugal. I think that side of the bracket is the side of death.
On the other side of the bracket I think it will be Spain to the Finals beating a Sweden team or a surprise England suad that always seems to under achieve.
So I have Belgium vs Spain in the Finals. We shall see.
On paper, Belgium is as strong as anybody, I have backed them in my thread from day 1.. And their results have been impressive... Good! but what have we really seen? They havent faced any competition (England exhibition doesnt count) and the path to the finals is far easier on the other side of the bracket. 5-6 teams have realistic chance and another 4 must truly believe on their day they can get the results. I do have Belgium in the same class as the very top teams and IMHO they do have enough to match Brazil. Buttt they have to defeat brazil, then france then croatia or Spain - pass on predicting that parlay
