Have any of you Guys ever gone to Armarillo and tried the 72 oz. Steak at The Big Texan ?  I was watching the Travel channel the Other day and saw the Program.. It looks Pretty Good...

Speaking of Texas- not barbeque.. but BLUE BELL ice cream is tasty..and pies from the Texas Heritage pie company are good..
 
Is the Piccadilly Cafe still in Austin ?

I tried it once a few years ago... Its not just steak though--- you have to eat all the fixins too... You get full b4 the steak ever comes out...  I finished everything and about half the steak... I thought I was going to die...  I don't see how people can do it...

Love Blue Bell but Im a Ben and Jerry's guy.. Strawberry Cheesecake.... Damn its good...

Only Piccadilly's I know of are in Houston

Here's a secret, found out by accident, HEB ice cream is Blue Bell. Love their Strawberry. Only a few to pick from but it's 1/2 the price of Blue Bell.

I only want to eat the Steak, I don't like to eat the Dinner rolls, Baked potato, and Salad...Maybe If I take the Challenge with Drew and Frank I could give them my fixins without anybody seeing and I'll just eat the Steak.

I live right outside of Houston, and we have a few good BBQ joints, but when i was visiting Austin i tried Rudy's BBQ and i came away very impressed.  I know its a chain now since they have 1 outside of Houston in the Woodlands area, but the brisket had good flavor and the sauce had a nice kick to it.

Yes Sir, Rudy's is great and we have 2,I think, in Houston now.

If your in the Dallas - Ft.Worth area drop by Springcreek Barbeque. The ribs are fantastic as well as their other smoked meats. For sides .... they have potato salad, green beans. corn on the cob, and pinto beans.What I really love about this place is they make fresh yeast rolls, which are baked on the premises throughout the day. An employee with a large basket brings the piping hot rolls to your table .... don't forget the butter! If you have room for desert they offer chocolate, peanut butter chocolate, and coconut cream pie slices - ( I've had them all !). They also have several kinds of  cobblers with Blue Bell ice cream. The restaurant is family owned and has been operating for almost 30 years .... you don't survive that long unless your doing something right! Springcreek isn't to bad but it's almost like a fast food bbq joint. They've been around for a while and I will eat there... Them and Dickey's are in the same category..

 

If you want a good rib joint in Dallas, go to Baker's... The other food sucks there but the ribs are famous.. Im not a big rib man but I will eat ribs there....

Best in Dallas categtory for many years when it comes to ribs.. This is no lie because the ribs fall off the bone and are amazing...

Love me some Cooper's. I usually go through Llano 6 or 8 times a year on my way to west Texas, and I always hit up Cooper's. I like anything from there, but my favorite is the sirloin steak. I don't know how they can make a sirloin steak so moist and tender when cooking it in a smoker, but they got it figured out.
 
Another couple of good central texas spots:
(the original is downtown, and now goes by another name after a family feud)
 
 
City Maket in Luling is always solid.
 
 
I've been meaning to get out to Lexington and try Snow's. It's been getting a lot of press as being one of the best. https://www.snowsbbq.com/

I don''t really like mesquite smoke that much so Coopers isn't one of my top spots.  Sirloin is one of my go-to meats on the smoke.  I also do really thin pork chops that cook up fast to serve while we're waiting for the 10 hr long brisket to cook.

I like main street BBQ in Euless, hard 8 in stephenville and new zion as well...

Fuschak's in San marcos is pretty much garbage, not sure how they made he list.

I ate at that dump once after boozing it up all day at the river.....shit was still tasted like garbage. Can't believe they're on a list. I think that joint is now out of business.

Rudy's - top notch...

Luling City - top notch (though the one in Houston by the Galleria SUCKS big time and is a rip off!)

Goode Co. - one of the BEST in Houston

Thomas BBQ (only the one off 45 north in Houston)

Mikeska's - gotta hit it on the way to the river or Austin from Houston

Burn's and Pierson's (both in the Acres in Houston) - excellent

DAMN there's a place south of Houston in Wharton on highway 59 and i can't remember the name!!!
