Expensive or Cheap Vodka?

Question

Not sure I can really tell the difference.  Especially when put some lemon in there.&#xD;&#xA;What&#x27;s wrong with this $7 McCormick?&#xD;&#xA;If ask me, it tastes like a fresh lemon.

All I can go off is how my actual drunk evenings have felt and how my hangovers have been.

Hands down Grey Goose and Belvedere give me the best drunk and have the easiest hangovers to deal with.

I drink very hard when I do (once or twice on the weekends) and have tried many Vodkas over time and these two keep ending up in my glass.

Is it true about taking cheap vodka and putting it thru a brita filter 6 or 7 times and it comes out with the quality of a belvedere or goose? Anyone try it?

yeah that&#x27;s what i heard regarding the filtering of the cheap vodka through brita.  fact of the matter is do we really need to filter it?  I guess the brita filter would be needed if you were drinking it straight as opposed to mixing it with something else.  I might be able to see that drinking popov alcohol straight would taste like rubbing alcohol, lol

Just recently started drinking Ciroc, and when chilled, it is absolutely amazing. I haven't really shot that much vodka since college, and back then, it was always Grey Goose. A few months ago, my future uncle gave me a shot of chilled Ciroc, and I loved it. Need to shoot some chilled Goose again just to see if it's as good. But, as to mixing it with something, it doesn't really matter to me... all you taste is the mixer anyways. But if you want to shoot it, I'm telling you chilled Ciroc is awesome.

The best way to compare them is at room temp.............chilling any alcohol will lessen the bite. Some bars I&#x27;ve been to are now chilling their "top shelf" tequilas............I don&#x27;t trust them.  I got introduced to a brand named "Pinnacle" &amp; find it a good all-around vodka. It&#x27;s only about $15/5th &amp; is very shootable, even when warm. If pressed I prefer Ketel 1.

The best vodka I&#x27;ve ever had is Russian Standard. When cold, that is the smoothest thing out there.

The only difference in &quot;bad&quot; and &quot;good&quot; vodka, to me, is the level of hangover. If possible to get in your area, give Dripping Springs a try. It is a small company, so more care is taken to ensure a quality product. I choose it over Goose, Ciroc or Belvedere AND it is priced along the lines of Absolut or Stoli.

smirnoff vodka is a very good vodka for the price. the problem with really cheap vodka is two fold. first,  more of the foreshots and aftershots during distillation are left in the final product which will lead to worse hangover. Secondly, cheap vodka is not as highly filtered through distillation grade charcoal. tihs results in more off flavors. More expensive vodkas typically have less fore and aftershot and less off flavors
